Same Elon Musk who would not integrate Apple’s CarPlay in Tesla just because? If Apple starts making brand-based exceptions, soon enough they will have a long line of others demanding the same special treatment, which will then get messy and confusing. The guy must be dreaming…
Maybe Musk turned down Apple's carplay because Apple likes to have exclusivity, as in with it's deal with MLS and it's rumored interest in the UK's EPL.

Just because Musk would not integrate Apple carplay into Tesla does not indicate that there is a problem with the man. There maybe more to it that we actually do not know. It is not right to cast aspersions on the man about things we do not know.

The Elon hate amazes me. It’s like the haters think he checks MR to see what’s being said and gets his feelers hurt over your posts.

Not a huge fan of him, but don’t hate the guy. He’ll probably get nowhere with TC on this issue.

But here’s an idea to all the haters, don’t buy his cars, use X, or even pay attention to the guy. That’ll show him.

What kind of CarPlay exclusivity are we talking about? Most modern cars come with car’s own infotainment systems + CarPlay + Google Auto, so people can actually choose the system they want to use. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Now Elon haters should say thank you for helping creators earn more money.

What kind of mental gymnastics are they going to pull now to justify their hate?

Do they hate on Apple for not allowing sideloading or hate the billionaire space man? Decisions decisions...🤣
Noyt sure if I am classed as an Elon Hater but I cannot stand the man and my opinion of the dishonest buffoon has not changed one iota.

I'm well aware of his compensation. But the assertion was to lower his salary to pay content creators more. This is not possible assuming his salary is $1 for X.

Yes, but the gist of their comment was referencing the significant compensation he's had as CEO of Tesla whether it be through salary, bonuses or whatever.

There's not really grounds for Apple to ban Twitter. Apple has to follow their own rules that they set up so Apple doesn't really deserve credit for driving traffic to Twitter through that reasoning.

Which is why I said "not that they should or would want to." My point, however, was that Apple having multiple active Twitter/X accounts and allowing Twitter/X in the App Store definitely helps to drive traffic to Twitter/X.

It looks like AAPL shareholders here don’t like the idea of giving creators 30%. I’m all for Apple collecting 30% from devs… if it was fair and good 15 years go, it’s fair and good today… but getting a 30% cut from creators is double dipping.

Elon is brilliant, and Cook, for all his faults, is a reasonable man, so hopefully Elon can talk some sense into him.

Elon convinced Cook to keep advertising on Twitter. Seems like he keeps convincing Apple.
Alternate take:
Cook continues to advertise on Twitter because he believes it still makes business sense to do so, not because Elmo "convinced" him.

The reason Apple initially paused advertising there was to prevent their ads from appearing alongside news reports of the shooting at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado, not because they have any qualms about advertising to fascists. 💰

So neither party deserves praise here.

Apple’s fees are well known. They created a platform and expect to make money on that creation using the agency model of distribution. In other words, if you want to have a bookstore that has access to Apple’s platform, then you pay that fee to be there. You are paying for the reach to customers that Apple has created. If you do not think that is of value, you are free to create your own platform and setup your own model on that platform. Musk could always start up his own smart phone company, create an App Store, and offer a better incentive to those who would market that product on that App Store.

Now, mental gymnastics?? Not needed at all. I mean, I am sick of Musk asking for a gross margin on his cars. If he would just get rid of that profit margin, the Tesla tax, more people could afford to buy a Tesla. You see, that’s what you are saying. Every company is in business to make money.

And Musk, the same guy who presents full self driving is around the corner, who has told customers that he’d be surprised if it didn’t release this year, or next year, and has been saying that for eight years now, and charges $15,000 for a product that is still at best at level two. What is the difference between what Musk is currently doing and what Elizabeth Holmes was doing? Zero difference, except she is going to prison for fraud and Musk is still committing that fraud.

If Musk (“I don’t care about the economics at all”) wants to be on the App Store, he can pay the same portion as made clear since the beginning. If he doesn’t like that rule, he’s free to move to Texas…Er a, make his own platform.

And you happen to be talking to someone who believes Apple is one of the most pig-headed companies on the planet, so don’t get me started on the many reasons to hate on Apple. But this is THEIR platform. They created it and you are free to create your own, just like Steam did when they didn’t want to pay Xbox fees. Just like Amazon did when it made the Amazon store instead of using the Google Store on the Fire devices. You are free to make your own platform.

If you want to buy an Adobe app, you can’t. You can only subscribe. If you don’t wish to subscribe, you can leave. It’s their platform. They can do as they wish. You are free to look elsewhere. Oh my God, there is an Adobe tax to use Photoshop. Yes, it’s called business. Should I sell you a slice of pizza I make at cost??? Oh my God, Sasha’s pizza tax… How dare I charge a fee?
