lol @ sensitive whites defending their racism.

BTW it's not a yellow emoticon. The character color itself isn't defined in the Unicode spec, and is left to interpretation by the creator of the actual emoji.

You'll get over it.

Your comments are a perfect example of the type of combative race-baiting nonsense that holds back minorities like myself.

Do you even realize that emoji come from Japan, and I'm pretty sure the Japanese didn't set the emoji to be like "white people" - you yourself are exibiting the American-centric white thought process, that the world revolves around you and white people. Emoji weren't even created by white people, and were sure as hell never made to represent white people. Get a clue.

And I'm sure you're well aware of the racial issues around Japan...

And it's always a conservative white that complains about race.

To a conservative white, only white people should be represented.

Conservative whites hate it when people identify themselves as non-whites.

OMG, did I just get trolled? This can't be anyone's actual opinion, at least not one that they would admit to in public.

Your comment is pretty inflammatory, so it pains me to come down on your side. Most of these comments are stupid. I'm a conservative white, and I'm having serious trouble understanding why anyone would have a problem with being able to select more colors for something.

I don't know if it's because all the other commenters are racist, or "post racial" or "fighting political correctness", or what, but it's a customization option. You can pick a color to make an emoticon look more like you or someone else. Get a grip, people.

You sound pretty racist, to be honest. Your views belong in the 1800s, not in 2014.

OMG, the person screaming racist, just gave us the textbook example of racism.

People are different and trying to say that race determines things is exactly what racism is. There is more variety within each race than difference between race.

How can you not see that if anyone in this tread is racist it's you.

Races don't have views. People do.

Race affects how people treat other people, how someone is perceived, how a minority racial member lives their life, it affects privilege, it affects dating, it affects what you think someone should sound like, etc. We are all born the same. Toddlers and babies don't have a clue about racial issues. It is when they start to become influenced by their environment, society, family, friends, culture that changes and nurtures the way we think today. If that didn't exist, then what you say would be true.

There's a lot of social constructs affecting race you're missing here.

More choices for an emoticon are awesome, but if that was their idea, they would also be including other colors like red, blue, green, purple, orange, shiny and metallic looking faces etc.

Most of the people who are complaining don't get it. You'll never get it

That's white privilege for you.

You mean the privilege not to be a complete moron, worried about a yellow emoji? I'll GLADLY celebrate that PRIVILEGE.

You couldn't be more wrong. It isn't your race that's making you do anything. You might find more of an attitude in one race than another, but it is not your race that is doing it.

All for more emoji's but we have enough PC stuff going on in the world, do we really need to corrupt yet another thing? Does anyone really care there isn't a light skin, dark skin dancing girl/guy?

I doubt most people even care about this. I doubt it was something people wrote Apple about. All they are doing is offering more choices now. I just don't understand why some people are so against what might make someone else happier. If you don't care about a yellow emoji now being offered in different colors, cool. If it makes someone else happier, let it.

It's better to confront these issues head-on rather than dance around it for generations.

Deal with it.

Right, and the emoji reform act settles centuries of injustice towards every ethnic group that's ever been wronged. Your comments are the reason I posted, you're the biggest "idiot" with an opinion in this thread. I'm sure your "struggle" has been tough. Enjoy being seperate, oh and don't forget to vote it's Election Day....
