You couldn't be more wrong. It isn't your race that's making you do anything. You might find more of an attitude in one race than another, but it is not your race that is doing it.
The people who *care* in this thread are mostly insane, throwing around racist buzzwords like "white privilege".
The rest of us are rightly calling this a joke. We're laughing at how absurd it is and how seriously the usual suspects take this stuff.
lol @ all the white people complaining.
It's amazing.
These people have absolutely NO idea.
"What's the problem? Why would anyone want to show a different skin color? A little black girl should be fine with a white emoticon!"
lol.
You are such a fool. They aren't showing a "different" skin color from what was there before because BRIGHT YELLOW is not a skin color to any human on this planet.
I think it's fine to introduce multi-colored versions of these:
✊✌️✋☝️
The yellow emoticons on the other hand seems pretty race-neutral to me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Exhibit A for why people who want everything to be politically correct are ruining everything.
you think it's cause they feel threatened by this evolution?
lol @ "corrupting" the white emoji set with different skin color.
Right..
I think it's fine to introduce multi-colored versions of these:

The yellow emoticons on the other hand seems pretty race-neutral to me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Some people think it's stupid because they believe only white people should be represented in the world.
We call those people "racist".
The best part is that they don't know it.
I'm disgusted by people who complain about things like this. Does it really hurt you so much for other people in the world feel less marginalized?
Any white person who is educated on social issues understand why this is a good thing, but many who don't see the point can't even seem to take a moment to realize that not every feature needs to be geared directly to *their* ego.
I think it's fine to introduce multi-colored versions of these:
✊✌️✋☝️
The yellow emoticons on the other hand seems pretty race-neutral to me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
And they complain when they think those people should be allowed to be shown in a skin color other than white.
I'm curious to hear how this will ruin your emoji experience. Please elaborate.
I think it's fine to introduce multi-colored versions of these:

So you selectively ignored the FACT that it is NOT white people depicted in emoji?
lol @ all the white people complaining.
Youre misrepresenting the argument; it's a straw man. I dont think anyone here wants to marginalise people with different skin tones. The issue is rather that this new standard drags these emoji into a political sphere that they werent in before. Those smileys depicted by the OP dont have a skin tone presently, but they will have one soon. I am not against this new standard, but I argue that the step is unnecessary. It adds complexity to a set of simple icons meant to convey emotions in instant messaging.
