Not really. I deliver empty boxes all the time. Most for version or dish but sometimes to houses , or they feel empty because they are so light. If I had a box I knew was from Apple I might think there is a single cord or adapter in there, no way to know if it's a phone or nor should I worry about it . If it's empty file a claim. My job is to get the box safely to your front door not to know what's inside

Idk but on Iphone launch day he or she should notice that an Iphone box is empty. I mean how many phones is he or she delivering on launch day.

any proof

Well the same driver delivered my replacement iphone the following week. and as he was walking away he said he did not take my phone... after i told him i am not signing for it unless he lets me hold it.
so who knows if it was him or someone at the distribution warehouse. But after filing the claim i never saw that same ups driver again.

He didn't take your phone , your nuts. First of all he wouldn't risk his job over a dumb phone it's a great job. Second, even if he did in theory, iPhones can be tracked by Apple even prior to activation so stealing one is worthless. Third, of the box was empty I would still deliver it. It's not my job to worry about what's in your packages. If it's empty you file a claim, nothing the driver can do at any point of the process

Just open it before the driver leaves.

The drivers are in such a rush, they literally snatch the signature pad from your hand before running out. How would you get one to hang around until you unbox the shipment? And even if it is empty - what will he do? It could be anyone up and down that shipping line that could have pilfered the phone.

It happens every year around the major release.
Most likely it gets opened and stolen along transit.

6 Figure salary to drive a UPS truck? Not
Try around $27 an hour.

Yes, I am told in places like NYC, certain operators own their truck and work very hard on their route. They make 6 figures.

Certain operators own several trucks.

Interesting.
I didn't know UPS hired subcontractors that provided their own transportation.
If you factor in buying your own delivery truck, maintenance, gas, insurance and so on then you might be better off being an hourly employee.

so verizon iPhones are automatically unlocked for GSM? there a bunch of IMEI unlock codes out there now so those can unlock Verizon phone also?
All Verizon phones have to legally come unlocked out of the box. Per the FCC. Only carrier that is required to do that. Any iPhone sold through Apple is also unlocked.

Does it really matter how much money a certain occupation makes? It should be well known by now that there is no longer a generalization you can make for any job.. Different markets and situations call for various compensation packages.
