That's why I don't pre-order online. Too risky imo, people at UPS know millions of iPhones are coming thru today, a few frustrated workers are bound to snatch one. Then again, I'm not ordering one until January though.

I've never had a product stolen or broken by ordering online. And if it was, they replace it. How is it risky?

Ill bet you I can do the same thing and have a rabbit appear out of the box.

You have no unbroken chain from the drivers hand to the opening of the box. I work in the legal system, and thats how those in the system work.

Wrong. All you have to do is open the box from the bottom and remove the old tape and tapr it back up, seal the iphone box back with shrink wrap.

Then you roll the camera like you state and make it look like the box is being opened for the first time.

Your killing me. Guess it goes to show the legal system is not made to help the people who were right or deserve/innocent but the rich bullies. Or on the other hand all the scammers who try to abuse it.. Kinda like how Monsanto rules the soybean world unfairly :p

You should watch a DUI trial! The most outlandish theories including that although the person was impaired when tested, he had just chugged a bottle af Jack Daniels and was not impaired when stopped.

Its all about what qualifies as evidence. You show a video of you opening the package and the other side says there is no proof you didnt open it and reseal it prior to the video you made.

Because you're spending $$$ and if it does get stolen before its delivered then you're stuck hoping they believe an unlikely story, what if they think you received it and you're trying to push them into giving you a second one? I'd rather just buy it in the store and walk out with it in my hand. I'm not buying one til January so should be able do that by then.

Same thing happens to me today. UPS sucks...

What does it have to do with the drivers ethnicity? It could've been anybody. I find it hard to believe the driver will risk their job for a phone, especially it's the driver that gets tied to every delivery.

That is horrible. UPS driver or someone along the line stole it.

Let me know if UPS will compensate you

Nope. They will compensate Apple.

This sucks!!! Stupid UPS
Got a empty box delivered today..
Already talked to UPS and APPLE..
Apple Sending new phone but now i gotta wait..

But I am Happy with Apple customer service!!!

Wow tha sucks! I am so sorry! Glad that Apple is taking care of you. UPS sucks. My driver was too lazy to deliver, so he lied and said no one was home. I've been here all day! Called and it was a horrible experience.

Isn't each phone recognizable though? Like wouldn't Apple know which IMEI was sent to that person, and deactivate that device? I imagine they could potentially even track them and press charges if they felt so inclined.

from the other empty box thread:

From UPS website FAQ:

"I've been delivered an empty box, what should I do?"

We've had this issue before, and developed a method for reporting and dealing with the issue. Follow the steps below BEFORE calling customer service.

1. Re-seal the box and write the words "Kladda Burata Nicto" on the SIDE of it with a blue marker. It MUST be blue, or else you risk angering Baal, the demon associated with UPS package delivery.

2. Re-open the box, and place it unto your head, with the words written in blue marker in the BACK, facing behind you. This is an important step, for without it you risk tearing a hole in spacetime.

3. Lift one foot, close your eyes, take the box from your head and then place it FACE DOWN on a table made from the bones of a Catholic Saint. You can find such a table on eBay or other auction website.

4. Wait 17 days, 4 hours, and 32 seconds, not one second more or less, and then lift the box. Do not alter the time or else you risk unleashing a poltergeist upon your family for 17 generations. If done correctly, your missing cargo should appear beneath.

If these steps do not work, then and ONLY then call customer service, at 1-800-PICK-UPS

then for $36 an hour he would realize he is delivering an empty UPS box without it even containing the iPhone box....
Not really. I deliver empty boxes all the time. Most for version or dish but sometimes to houses , or they feel empty because they are so light. If I had a box I knew was from Apple I might think there is a single cord or adapter in there, no way to know if it's a phone or nor should I worry about it . If it's empty file a claim. My job is to get the box safely to your front door not to know what's inside
