Epic, with their deals with game devs that make the games exclusive to Epic and not allowed to be offered in any other store?

Spotify, ruining podcasts by making them exclusive to their app?

Tile, where I can’t see my past data unless I pay a subscription fee?

All scum. Why do they think they’re so essential to the world?

I really do wish sites like this one would quit giving these guys a megaphone. Why we continue to incentivize whining with increased exposure is beyond me.

I think it’s fair to post things like this on the site. I’d much rather read about this than the next up-and-coming leaker’s rumors. Something with this many big names behind it is going to get a lot of publicity no matter what. This forum just provides a different method of gathering different facts and opinions of the case to help continue building/developing your own point of view on it.

I think that the 30% tax is their biggest issue. I have always thought it was too much. Surely at even 15%-20% Apple would still make a ton of money.

One thing I like about the App Store is that I know Apple has vetted the apps there, so the risk of running into an App that does something malicious is pretty much zero.
Also, I know that every iOS App that exits is in that store, I don't have to rummage through the interwebs in order to find Apps.

This stuff is kind of amusing. You could maybe argue that 30% is too high, but Apple has their argument for charging this much as well. This feels like a losing battle to me though. Take your app off the App Store and see how well you do.
At the end of the day, it's Apple's platform and they can charge whatever they want. Don't like it? Move on... oh wait, everyone charges 30%.
