I hope this ends up killing epic games. They make crap and they are crap. Should have been kicked off months ago since I’m sure most of the snot nosed kids are using their parents credit cards to buy worthless garbage.
They don't make crap. They have one of the best if not the best video game engines in Unreal 4 and the Unreal Engine 5 looks amazing. Watch the Playstation 5 demo and see for yourself.

It’s truly amazing the crap you guys come up with to defend Apple🙄

Adults as well 🙄

Don’t target children with micro transactions and game subscription. It’s disgusting but expected from predatory organizations that use different arms of its organization to influence public impression.

I’m exactly on this bandwagon too.
I would rather pay, say $13 for GoodNotes 5 from the AppStore instead of $10ish outside and get the security, sync between devices, family sharing, Mac/iOS/iPadOS all in one shot, auto updates, change/upgrade/repair device and it’s still magically there like if it never went away, etc etc etc.... same with ProCreate, Photoshop and others.

However, how could this be resolved? There must be a way to keep everybody happy? Devs and customers and tinkering users alike?
Maybe allowing the use of apps installed from everywhere but shifting accountability in that case? i.e refunds have to be handled on your own, if an user’s bank account gets hacked can’t blame Apple for malware gotten from dubious software, so on and so forth...

Would that make sense?

Can we get app developers to be held accountable for making an app work before we support giving them more? Good Reader 5 is a great example of an app that sells fixes instead of honoring the idea of just getting the app to work.

They charge people to use it commercially. Users should have a choice to buy Unreal games but not have to pay an Unreal tax for developers to license it.

The problem is not the percentage. The problem is that apple acts as sole gatekeeper to 1.5 billion devices. Thye should not be allowed to be in that position
They literally made all of them. They don’t just deserve to be sole gate keeper, they have an obligation to continue being it.

Which is why EPIC is likely seeking change not abandonment. ;)

It's worth noting some key differences in iOS and Android. Apple maintains strict control over iOS and the average consumer can only download or purchase content via the App Store. Android is a little more open and apps can be sideloaded or manually downloaded onto devices, bypassing Google Play. Epic used to leverage this circuitous route for Android but earlier this year finally begrudgingly released Fortnite directly on Google Play, arguing that Google had used various underhanded tricks that "puts software downloadable outside of Google Play at a disadvantage."

The video game industry is incredibly competitive, especially on mobile platforms. It's not an exaggeration to say that the 30% fees can make or break smaller studios, which Epic CEO Tim Sweeney has noted.

I love Unreal Tournament, Gears of War, and the Infinity Blade series.
I’ll write that down? I get it we all have different interest, but honestly these folks seem like money sucking scammers.

They are, but they still occasionally make good games. Unfortunately, Infinity Blade isn't available on iOS anymore.

Totally disagree, they put the R&D work into it, they deserve the right to license their game engines. You work for free?

How do you figure? By definition an adult is someone who knows better.
I have nothing further to add here, you’re just making stuff up and it’s quite disgusting. That you think adults don’t play and pay for video games is absolute, willful ignorance.

I didn't say adults don't play video games. Adults do indeed play video games, and they pay for them. But Fortnight isn't a video game. It's an interactive slot machine that rewards repeated payments with flashy colors.
