Got mine around 1:00 EST, was originally pushed back to 4:30, this was after seeing the FedEx guy this morning at about 9:00 and me fighting back tears as he drove by...

So much for Pre-ordering! Apple stopped shipments!

I preordered Leopard and was told it would be deivered today... FEDEX priority overnight 10:30am delivery.

Well 10:30am came and went... and I called FEDEX and I was told that my delivery had been delayed by request from APPLE! It will not be delivered until MONDAY!

I called Apple and they said that I was not the only one whose pre-order had been delayed but they would not confirm that it had been delayed by Apple... only that they were "Aware" of the situation.

The FedEX people made no bones about it. They said thay had been instructed by apple to delay all of these shipment because they didn't want the software deliverd prior to the release time of 6:00PM ( the Apple customer service rep said that she was aware that many opre-orders got shipped a few days ago...)

I am more than a little upset.....

Just got mine. I had a "delivery exception" too - I was starting to worry that I wouldn't get it today. The driver actually asked me what it was - he said they had been absolutely inundated with tons of these little boxes from Apple and had gotten permission from them to push back delivery if they couldn't get them all delivered today. He seemed a little frazzled. (And this is in a sleepy little town on the coast of Maine.) So I guess it's not Apple's fault, after all. Leopard's just too popular. :)

It seems like everyone has different explanations.

Mine was already on the truck out for delivery when the "Delivery exception" happened. And when I talked to FedEx they said Apple had requested that delivery be postponed. Then when I talked to Apple they said they are aware of the issue but refused to give any explanation and that I would most likely get it tomorrow but even that is not certain. At which point I requested a refund and they said they'll email me a return label. So far, no return label and no leopard.

Oh, and they won't waive the signature requirement here in Vegas, so I'll have to keep wasting my time waiting for FedEx. I'll be thinking twice and trice before ever buying something from the Apple Store again.

Mine showed on vehicle for delivery at 8:05am this morning. Delivered to my door at 9:15am. The Fedex lady said her truck is full with little packages like mine from Apple and all are gonna be delivered throughout the day. No delays here, not only for me, but for all the people covered by the Romulus, MI branch of Fedex.

I live in California, and mine got delivered at 10:00am this morning

I live in southern California and my copy got delivered this morning at 10:00am. The truck driver didn't say anything about it being delayed..

However, he did say "I have a present for you!", if that means anything. Although, he probably just says that to everyone.

Im sorry to hear that everyone else has been delayed.

I wish I could say mine was delayed by FedEx... Looking it up on Apple it says that my order (2 upgrade $9.95 copies) have not yet shipped. Ships by: OCTOBER 26TH.

I'm hoping that's just a lack of updating on the site and that it's really on its way.

Well there is always another side to a story, so here is mine. I am a 74 year old person on hemodialysis. I leave for my treatment Mon, Wed and Fri at 5 AM and don't get home until about noon. When I pre-ordered I requested afternoon delivery or in the alternative that the package be held at the Fedex depot for me. Guess what? Fedex attempted delivery at 10:10 AM and will not re-deliver now until Monday!! Guess Apple and Fedex figures it easier for me to adjust my schedule to accomodate them than try to send a package a bit slower. Some how it seems to redefine the expression "Haste makes waste!"

Enjoy your new OS, I will have to wait for mine

FedEx came three times!

I was very impressed with FedEx today. They first came at 8:15 am but didn't leave the package since we weren't in yet (even though I left the pre-signed notice on the door - he even left a note saying he would return today). Then they came back about 1/2 hour later - still too early. Then they came back at 2:45 pm and I now have the box on my desk. I have never had FedEx try to re-delivery on the same day. DHL, yes - FedEx no.

I didn't think it would show up today so I was planning on heading over to the Apple Store. I kinda want the t-shirt :)

Funny, but true. :p

Makes me think about all the times I've been expecting a package and having my emotions run from excited anticipation to disbelief to despair all within 20 seconds as the truck goes on by.

Someone made a MAJOR mistake. My order is now pushed back until MONDAY as well!!!:mad::mad:

What idiot made the decision to release the system on a FRIDAY??? No way in hell that i'm ever ordering online again. i could be at the release party tonight and get it over 2 days earlier and i'm more than annoyed.

if this was Apple's doing, that is TOTALLY STUPID. if it is fedex's doing, i hope Apple gets a huge refund of their shipping fees for the idiotic mistakes. this obviously wasn't some last minute shipping order. it was planned months in advance. no excuse for this

i didnt think so at first but now i have a feeling this was some stupid stunt from Apple. Come on guys you should know better. they just screwed over thousands of their best customers that couldnt wait to get Leopard in their hands. if it was monday - thursday it wouldnt even be AS bad. But some idiot picked FRIDAY to release it meaning any shipping screwups wont get redelivered until MONDAY. that's a LONG time when you are waiting and were excited for it.

plus like someone else said, i took off a full day of work just to be home to get it and play with it. and now i don't even have the damn thing.
someone needs to be fired for this. over exaggerating? no , they said it would be here if we ordered early. it said in bold letters ARRIVES ON THE 26. i paid more to get it from Apple than i could have at Amazon just so i could get it earlier. now i paid more for nothing. idiots

I wonder what the story is. Now that I think of it, FedEx wasn't just late - they were headed the opposite direction they usually are when they stop here. Which makes me wonder if they tried to hold off on delivering the package as long as possible, and the guy exaggerated the number of them they had to deliver just because he felt sheepish about having to make me wait until the end of his run to let me have it. I had to put off seeing a sick family member today because I had fully expected to have this stupid package by early afternoon, which is when I usually have FedEx packages by. If it turns out that Apple deliberately tried to manipulate the exact hour it was delivered, I'm going to be furious. It's an OS, not a Harry Potter book, and I'm not twelve years old.

That's because the level one support people at FedEx don't have a clue. They've only got what their computer system says, and you can bet almost none of them have any idea what is going on at a corporate level. The computer system is going to say "delivery exception" because it's an overnight package, and if it didn't go to exception, then it would be a late delivery (which FedEx doesn't want flooding their statistics when they've clearly cut a separate deal about deliveries of Leopard).

The bottom line is that the 10:30 delivery time is based on the shipping method in the system and not based on an actual guaranteed time of arrival for the Leopard packages (because FedEx wouldn't be able to make its regular full-rate deliveries in addition to delivering however many hundreds of thousands of copies in the first 2 hours). Most will probably get delivered by end of business, and some will have to wait until Monday for whatever reason (full trucks, failed delivery attempt, didn't quite make it onto the truck from processing, whatever).

It's free overnight shipping; there's little to complain about. If it's not delivered by 7pm, you can always go to the Apple Store and pick up a copy, then return the one that is delivered next week if you absolutely must have it today.

1. Apple did not delay package delivery today.
2. When Leopard was distributed from FedEx's regional hubs to our local sort facilities, drivers started complaining because of the amount of Priority Overnight packages.
3. Local sort facilities then complained to FedEx's regional hubs because of the lack of warning.
4. FedEx Corporate called Apple and requested additional allotment time for delivery.
5. Apple complied, as long as deliveries were made today.

furious with FedEx!

I am so mad I could scream! I got an exception on my delivery, but it said incorrect address. I immediately called FedEx and verified that my address was in fact correct. The driver somehow decided my zip code was wrong. I gave the CSR directions to my house. An hour later, someone from the local FedEx called and asked for directions and re-verified my address. He said that my package would be delivered today and he would call back if they needed any further directions. I had to leave for work shortly after that, but left a signed note on my door, as I was told to do by the CSR. When I got home from work at 7 tonight, NO LEOPARD! My tracking page said "returned to FedEx at 5:20" I called FedEx and found out the driver didn't bother to even try to redeliver, when it was his error in the first place! And when I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was put on hold for several minutes then told there were no managers on duty all night. Yeah, right. So they might deliver it tomorrow. Who knows. I feel like my head is going to explode.

Call Apple and they will give you a credit for it. I got a $50 credit (got family pack).

Seems everyone here in SD got screwed by more than the fires this week... :(

I didn't get offered any credit he just told me it will come on Monday then.

They don't deliver Saturday, they are saying Monday to everyone.

My campus bookstore was supposed to sell Leopard at 6:00pm MST on our campus. I waited a good hour to be at the front of the line and when the bookstore employees came in they told us that they did not receive the shipment of OS X 10.5 and that we could pre-order and pick up a copy when it does come.

I pre-paid and promptly went back to my place and wrote a complaint and sent it to sjobs@apple.com.

I hope those of you who got Leopard tonite enjoy it. For those of you who are waiting (EDIT: and have no other choice but to wait) like me please write a complaint.

sick of apple

So now Apple won't give me a refund. They want me to return it first but I can't return something which I don't have.

And I'm not bothering with FedEx anymore. I already wasted one day waiting for them, I'm not gonna waste another. I have classes all day and I can't miss more.

Funny how Apple can instruct FedEx to postpone delivery, but they claim they can't tell them to return the thing so they can give me a refund. This is ridiculous.

I'm gonna have my credit card deal with this from now on. Apple is pathetic.

Anybody else have this reported in their Leopard package tracking? Originally I had this morning by 10:30am, but I was just recently updated with a Delivery Exception "Future Delivery Requested" and now my delivery time is pushed back to 7pm today. Apple trying to make sure EST folks receive it as close to 6pm as possible? Only thing I can think of as I surely never made a late delivery request.

i got the exact same message and boy did that tick me off, i called up fedex and let them hear what was on my mind, came 30 minutes later :)

Great. That means they lied to me about it arriving by noon tomorrow too. Either that or the person I talked to has no clue what day it is. Scary.

Yeah, I mean everything they say is conflicting or makes no sense. The second time I called Apple to complain how my morning had been wasted because I had to wait to sign for the delivery, they transferred me to a supervisor who talked to FedEx and assured me that in spite of what the FedEx tracking web page said, I will get it today. Well, I still don't have it and according to FedEx, it's in one of their facilities but the FedEx "supervisor" I talked to doesn't know if that particular facility of theirs works on saturdays so she can't tell me when it will be delivered.

I would urge everyone who didn't get it today to send it back to Apple for a refund and buy it somewhere else (you can find it cheaper online anyway). If Apple can't deliver on the 26th like they guaranteed they would, they should lose all that money on shipping charges so they know to get their act straight next time.

"Future delivery requested"

Don't you just love it when companies pull crap like that and then complain about people pirating software  I never do that but right now I'm really tempted.
