I would gladly have PAID for shipping to get it sooner. That was my point. I don't really like the way this was handled- let free shipping be what you said and let paid shipping be when Fedex actually makes the 10:30 commitment time. Standard Overnight is still by 3 (4:30 in some areas).

I would have gladly paid to have it delivered last week...that wasn't an option Apple gave me. When you ordered it online it clearly stated delivery on the 26th.

And I'm saying there SHOULD have been an option to pay for better shipping on the release date (and not any other date), obviously we all know what the options were, and I wish they were different. Not sure what part of this you feel the need to argue.

Oh snap, it was logged that he was 1min late. REFUND, REFUND on my shipping charges!!! :p

Sucks for you all with the delivery issues. Id be pretty hot under the collar myself. And the one person that said there was a note but no one ever knocked. Ive had that happen several times with USPS, annoys me to NO end. They leave a note in the mailbox that they attempted delivery when in fact they didnt.

The fact that the OS does not release until 6pm, not 10:30am. Why should there have been an option?? I think they should have an option for delivery last week. Doesn't mean it makes sense.

how is UPS handling it, any info from them on this issue, or amazon.

also I wonder if the apple store have enough stock now or they just another fedex number with large shipment.

Okay, then. What about at the retail stores. Are you going to go in there before 6PM and say, "Give me Leopard now. I'll pay extra."? No, and if you did they wouldn't sell it to you and you'd have to wait. So this FedEx, I'd pay for sooner shipment, discussion is quite pointless.

Another one with "exception". Thought they misread or otherwise ignored the pre-sign form on the door. Also thought it meant Monday :( , not later in the day.

Called the station - got the explanation and an apology. They're delivering as soon as possible (probably within the hour).

I can't believe this! So the FedEx site says that estimated delivery was before 12pm. Since it is almost 2pm and I haven't received my package yet I decided to call FedEx. Apparently the driver attempted to deliver by 10:30am (as promised), and "Apple has requested a later delivery." She said she couldn't even really give a time when it should be delivered because Apple didn't give a specified time- only later. She was very nice and apologetic and said it was out of their hands and that I should call Apple for more information since it was their request.

I specifically got it from Apple (not Amazon) to get it today so I think I have a bit of a right to irked. I am not pissed but definitely a little irritated. Can you blame me? The FedEx truck has already delivered to my building. errrr.

Anyone see this on the Apple email:
Delivery Time Frames

Overnight Delivery:

Products shipped before 5:00 p.m. EST are normally delivered by 3:00 p.m. local time one business day after shipment.

How did you pay for shipping? It was listed as free, and Apple automatically changes all orders to priority overnight so it will get here on time.

They are one of apple's distributers, and No, they did not "instruct" FedEx to not deliver before 10:30, but they told fedex that if they can not make all their deliveries by 10:30 that they will grant an exception, and they can deliver after 10:30.

Apple doesn't care what time we get it, Ingram doesn't care what time we get it. They just need to have these "delivery exceptions" documented for when they get the fedex invoice so they know how much to pay.
While your explanation makes sense I was simply stating what I had been told by FedEx, that Ingram Software OK'd the delivery for after 10:30. FedEx's tracking system told me the package was on the truck out for delivery at 7:20, and then an exception at 8:45. I believed this to mean that Ingram had told them not to deliver before 10:30, but it certainly makes more sense that what was meant was that it would be OK to deliver after 10:30 am.

I think you'll still get it today. My ship status was changed to "by 3:00". They said Apple gave them the exception, but it was for later today, not another day.

I just got a phone call saying they wouldn't be here until "before 2:30", but told them I'm leaving town and need it before then. So, she's sending the driver another note. I was hoping to have it actually installed before hitting the road.

Mine

Mine which was slated to arrive on TODAY is now going to arrive on the 31st. I called apple and they will do nothing. I am so very upset. They basically said, OOPS! sorry. It accidentally didnt ship out.

Not only that, but the first person I spoke to before the supervisor, didnt even know when leopard was launching today. AM I mistaken or is the apple main page a giant countdown?

Such terrible service. I asked if they could same day deliver to rectify it, nope, let me goto the store today before work at 3pm and get a copy? NOPE, give me a refund today? NOPE I have to wait till I return the one that will be here on the 31st.

This is really crap.
Sorry, I am mad. the grinch stole Christmas.

Newb - Up to Date

I'm confused  I'm a new mac switcher and i've never ordered from Apple before. I placed my order for Leopard on the 19th through Mac OS Up-To-Date and now when I pull up the online order status it says "Not yet shipped" What gives? Will I get it today or later?

Yours never got to Fedex then?? Did you get a tracking number?

Did you order the standard version or the up-to-date disc? Meaning, did you buy your mac within this month? I dont think the up-to-daters were ever promised delivery today.

Ah.... I must have only paid sales tax (forgive a ex-Delawarean who still isn't accustomed to sales tax). Duh!

Pre-Orders were free (overnight) shipping. I called as well as my copy didn't get to Richmond, VA till 1147. It is now 1408 and the fedex lady wasn't sure of where it was. The Fredericksburg sorting facility is expecting it though. I may have to drive there to pick it up if they aren't gonna deliver it by truck today.
Overall I am most concerned that the Estimated Delivery date hasn't been updated at all. It still says 1030, which obviously is misleading. so for the next 3 hours no one is at my house, luckily I live in an apartment so the front office would sign for it if it does come before I get home.

I ordered the up-to-date disc. I just figured it would be here today. There is no delivery date listed at all. :(

Well, it looks like I was the victim of the FedEx overload, but not really:

8:43 AM - Delivery Exception (Incorrect Address)
9:30 AM - I call FedEx, ask Whaddup Widat?!? and update my address
12:09 PM - On FedEx vehicle for delivery
1:25 PM - Delivered

Strange. Well, at least it's safe at home (or so I'm assuming that that was my wife who signed for it). I guess I can't complain in the end. I didn't expect to touch it until I got home from work this evening.

All in all, it's like this morning's "drama" never happened. But it would have been nice to not have my morning ruined with such an admittedly trivial thing.

(...trivial now that's it's been delivered)

Oh Yeah!! Doorbell. Fedx, it's here!! 11:14 (I had the delay until 4pm)
Fedx guy said their truck is full of Leopards and he laughed at how long a day it would be. So if you have it coming today, I bet you will get it. You are just part of the swelling success that is the current Apple.

Apple waived all required signatures, so you don't have to worry about that. I'm in Springfield, VA and my est. delivery is 4PM.

I had the same Delivery Exception after it was en-route at 9 this morning. My estimated delivery is now 6:45.
