you want cookie popups in Apple Maps too?

May as well have EU force you to buy an AndroidLet’s hope they force Apple to allow things like the calendar app to use Google Maps for locations on things. It’s terrible to not be able to add locations directly from the calendar app since Apple Maps data is so outdated.

They will probably regulate them so the EU companies have an advantage and the government can have access to everything (see chat control). The EU really wants to be the next China that is their real goal. Its not about the user otherwise they wouldn’t target the privacy of users or going after Apple which has a low market share in Europe. Apple ads is nothing compared to Google ads but they go after it because they want some company who lobbied to have easier access to our data.Yes, big tech needs to be regulated.
No, stripping privacy protections in an effort to boost competition is not a good or smart tradeoff.
There is competition and Apple doesn’t have a big market share in Europe. Especially not in Maps, Messaging etc. The big players are Meta and Google here. And no the product won’t get better it will just stay the same (why bother developing the app any further) or the App will be gone from the EU market. The customers will get a better product if there is actual competition, maybe then Apple can be bothered to make a good Maps app (and others). The lack of competition has clearly lowered Apples willingness to build something good because this cannot be the best they can produce.
What about Google ads you know the real monopoly here. Did they target google? If not why not. I still thing someone at the EU hates Apple for some reason or some of the few meaningless tech companies in the EU is lobbying against Apple.
You know why the EU wants to open up everything? They want to have access. See you in 3 years when they try again to end encryption and do AI chat control along site having to put your digital ID on every website so you can have access.Openness > innovation, and innovation =/= lock-in. Never has.
And yes, they absolutely should pull out... along with Brazil, and India, and South Korea, and Japan, and Australia, and any other countries that are requiring them to open up.
...or Apple, and every other company, tech or otherwise, should realize that it's business practices begin and end at national borders. No exceptions.
That is why I ask. But lets be serious they will agree with Google because google will give them access and is open. Apple is more stubborn and won't give them the data and won't open up their system. And Meta? They basically have a monopoly with Whats App.you are correct, everything in EU revolves around Apple and finding more ways to hate it more, it's an all-out Apple hate cult, and nothing else matters.

The thing is, Apple have reported their services as having passed the threshold stipulated in the DMA. However at the same time they also argues that they believe that their services are not significant enough to be gatekeepers. This is why the EC have to make a decision if that is the case or not. I am pretty sure corruption can't be self incriminating? The inescapable conclusion is that the EU Commission is corrupt.
They push for it almost every year. They want to protect peoples privacy from companies but not from government. They want access to everything. Even ban encryption. They want to be able to scan every massage you send and everything on the cloud because cHiLdReN. They failed now again because Germany said no so they decided to let the companies do it voluntarily but if it doesn’t work they will try again in 3 years. They will do it its just a matter of time. Oh and politicians won’t be effected because there is an exception for them.how is this about EU asking for 'data', whatever that is.
Apple Maps is trash, just like Siri and lots of other Apple services. It took Apple two years and a few dozen reports to correct my street. It took them forever to add bike paths. The restaurant that opened in my building last year is still not listed! So good luck finding any stores or food places. I can't navigate with my 50ccm Vespa scooter because there is no option in Apple Maps to avoid the fast roads I am not allowed to use. There is no point to use Apple Maps besides car navigation.Maps is an excellent app and Apple has been improving it for literally a decade. And the idea Maps doesn't have competition is insane.
Also, this has nothing to do with competition. The EC is desperately trying to prop up (really conjure up) European tech companies through massively overbearing regulation. It they really cared about consumers or privacy or competition they wouldn't be laser-focused on Apple to the near-exclusion of actually harmful companies like Meta.
