You obviously didn't read what he said.
Despite your protests, I actually did. It's all BS. He fired up Safari on his PC, probably with ClickToFlash, and assumed that was the entire experience -- completely ignoring how these sites use user agent strings for browser identification. Then he got his list out without knowing what he was talking about. He doesn't seem to even own an iPhone or iPad.
Let's recap, point by point.
He kicks it off saying that there will always be animated ads, which leads me to believe he probably is a developer of animated Flash ads:
There will always be animated ads. If not in Flash, then in HTML5. If you're on a quest for an ad-free internet, you'd probably have better luck trying to catch the rainbow.
Flash is a staple of the internet experience. Videos and ads are two aspects but it's also a crucial part of many sites. "Yeah well if they have Flash content, I'll just go elsewhere, ha!"
So he is probably a Flash developer (if you call that "development") who maybe sees that his career could be in jeopardy if Flash went the way of the dinosaur. He might actually have to learn a real programming language, something more involved than manipulating images on a timeline.
So he gathers a list -- probably didn't do it himself, it likely came from some pro-Flash astroturf blog -- of an industry site he may or may not have any familiarity with. But he specifically picked on musicians (probably sounded good to him, you know, creative types and Macs and blah, blah, blah...) which is a topic I like to think I have some familiarity with:
You know, let's say you're a computer-based musician/audio dude and you want to take your daily tour of the internet to see what all the companies are up to.
Now he's primed, he's ready, he has Safari on his PC, and he fires up the diatribe:
(Might wanna turn on Click2Flash for this one):
Aaaaaaaaaaand, they're off:
www.akaipro.com
Big Flash hole in the middle. Fine, I'll take my money elsewhere then. Let's see...
Except the site is completely navigable from an iPhone or iPad. Maybe Anuba doesn't realize the Akai webserver sends different landing pages to different types of devices, but there is a complete HTML-based interface that is available from my iPhone.
www.m-audio.com
Rats. Another big Flash hole in the middle.
Also completely navigable from an iPhone or iPad.
Products, support, etc. At this point, I can either conclude Anuba doesn't own an iOS device and he's completely judging this from Safari on his PC or else he's flat out being deceptive.
I'm telling the mother company, bet they won't like this Flash nonsense. They'll get a major reprimand I believe. Hello Avid here I come...
www.avid.com
Huh?? Another giant Flash hole?
WHAT giant Flash hole? Does this guy really not own an iPhone?
It's all there; Media Composer, ProTools, Venue, Interplay, Pinnacle, even M-Audio. Hard to find info on the Eleven Rack unless you know where to look, but that's also true for the Flash-based version of the site, now isn't it. Oh, wait, he's not really a musician, he just plays one on the Intarwebz. You'll have to trust me on this one then...
Oh well, I bet Korg wants my money.
www.korg.com
Gigantic, monstrous Flash hole. What the...?
FINALLY! One of his sites actually has the blue lego where the Flash-trash is supposed to go!
Except... DAMN! That's just
one animated graphic or art shot placeholder that's part of a fancy landing page, the rest of Korg.com is 100% navigable from my iPhone. HTML and Javascript menus, the works. Nothing is off limits to me. I can look up anything; guitar effects, keyboards, etc.
That's it, I'm heading over to Novation.
www.novationmusic.com
Oh COME ON.
Same as Korg. Completely navigable on an iPhone but the landing page does have one blue lego where the animated graphic or art shot should sit. But below that are animated GIF images that scroll through their offerings, which I can see on my iPhone. I readily admit, I'm not really a rap/dj/trace type of musician so not much of what they sell would be of interest to me, but the controller surfaces are there for guys that play that stuff.
How about Yamaha? Good old conservative Yamaha, they'll have HTML for me...
www.yamahasynth.com
What? Another gaping Flash rectangle?
Showing my age now, but other than a few misc. volume-type pedals, the last two Yamaha products I owned were an RA-200 and a CP-70B. Both yamahasynth.com and the regular Yamaha websites have the now-familiar blue lego where an animated graphic goes, but again I was able to navigate the entire site and look up that they are rolling out yet-another-round of stage pianos that aren't simultaneously lightweight and stackable. I missed the pretty image they hired a Flash developer to put on the landing page.
Off on a slight tangent, but YamahaSynth.com? Seriously? Like the world needs one more buzzy DX-7 type sound from '80s pop? Even VH's "Jump" didn't finally and permanently cure people of that?
OK Japan, this is my last hope... come on Roland... help me out here...
www.roland.com
Ah. That's actually the biggest Flash rectangle I've ever seen, and there's nothing else. OK then, I give up with hardware. Let's try software instead. So...
But... There is no Flash rectangle at Roland.com on my iPhone.
There
is a young girl playing --
I am NOT making this up!!! --
a freakin' keytar
, which should've gone the way of the DX-7 noises from the '80s (see above).
Shudders...
www.steinberg.net
Ah. Big Flash hole.
Yeah, I know how repetitive this all is by this point, but...
I get a small line of text telling me where I can download Flash from, but
I get complete access to Steinberg.net on my iPhone. All the news about the CI1 and CI2+ (which are now shipping if I were so inclined) as well as Cubase, info on VST plug-ins, and the like.
Dammit, I'm gonna do this...
www.native-instruments.com
Right... the entire site is Flash except the background.
FINALLY! I can get to the Online Shop, Support, Community & Forum, Company, and Store Locator with my iPhone. But not their Home and Product sections.
So you get your first half-point on this one.
Note that they do give their LA contact info and phone number. I think I'll call them in the morning and ask them why I can't buy the B4 software they've discontinued.

(Not that I'm really into software instruments.)
Oh well, I bet Ableton will welcome me with open arms...
www.ableton.com
Argh! Fine. Fine.
Awww, and you were almost on a roll there.
Sorry, Ableton.com is completely iPhone friendly.
If you want me to take my money to Cakewalk, I'll do it.
www.cakewalk.com
Oh for the love of... will SOMEONE out there show me their products??
You know the drill. No animated Flash "art shot" in the middle of the landing page; but the products, store, news, community, support, all work just fine.
How about Toontrack? Gimme those sweet drum plugins now...
www.toontrack.com
OK. OK. I get it. The entire industry relies on Flash.
My band relies on our drummer, he is not capable of being replaced with a frackin'
drum machine. But playing along with your obviously flawed thesis... On my iPhone there is a background where I assume a Flash "art shot" animated graphic would go, but the entire site is navigable. Though if you are partial to programmable drum noises we probably have other major differences of opinion.
But let's not let a little search with the PC version of Safari and ClickToFlash get in the way of the facts about what your astroturf-picked list of
ZOMG! musician sites that don't function without Flash are
mostly missing a single animated marketing graphic or art shot.
So, to protest this, I'm gonna buy Logic from Apple. Their site is non-Flash. I won't have any hardware to control it with, but maybe I can whistle and do some beatboxing and record it on the internal microphone. That'll show'em who's the Flash-free boss! Billboard and platinum records here I come.
Again, the choice is that I can't make any music if I don't have Flash on my browser? Are you freakin' kidding?!? We have point-to-point handwired amplifiers but Anuba thinks we need a web browser to be all (what he refers to as) "Billboard and platinum records"? I don't think Anuba is a musician, I don't think he even
knows any musicians...
