Not going to turn this into another DMA thread, but will just state that I disagree strongly that a platform owner shouldn't have a say or doesn't have an interest in what runs on its platform.

Just going to leave it at that though. Hope you're doing well!

unable to install it. Have the ALtStore, but the button install via altstor on hottubs website doesn seem to do anything

I would like enjoyed Steve Jobs doing his Keynote presentation on this app. He would compare it with other ways to consume this content. How he would make it easier search and use the iTunes design. He would show the previews, ratings, reviews, and one click purchase feature. How you can import it into iMovie and add your own titles and sound effects. How to share with your friends, how to use AI to replace someone in the video with someone in your Photos library. Store in iCloud so it is available on all your Macs and how you can watch the same content on Apple TV, iPad, iPhone, Mac, or your Apple Watch.

Then Apple would have to admit how their mobile gaming marketshare is almost entirely composed of addicts, when most games boil down to gambling mechanics.

Drew Gooden released a recent video about gambling I recommend.

Hate to break it to you, but you can use a computer to install AltStore on an iPhone in any region.

The only thing I would argue here is, kids lie about their age, once a child gets the app and the parents find out, apple would be sued for allowing it to happen. Also lots of parents are ignorant of the child restriction settings etc. Lots of parent I know just don't have the technical knowledge or time to learn about and use such settings.

I seriously doubt the EU's idea of a separate App Store included pornography much less the first app being pornographic in nature. Well done EU, now figure out how to protect the children.

They have a legal business model. If that business model doesn’t suit one, there competitors that have the business model they are seeking.

Keep in mind your data is most likely going to be sold off and there always is the possibility of a data breach exposing your habit. No saying there is anything wrong with it, but being named definitely puts a damper on career opportunities.

If you don’t like your local corporation in g the moral police then boycott their products. Unfortunately society has dictated where the moral police have to interject themselves.

Europe sure seems to like porn. Wonder what the EU will think when the first sex trafficking app shows up on an "alternate" app store.

Oh, we completely agree on that.

An owner of a platform (such as a marketplace, TV channel or streaming service, even an operating system) should be allowed to have a say and be free to decide on what runs and what not.

Only when said platform has obtained monopoly/duopoly/oligopoly status and power should government intervene and limit their right to “have a say” and censor or charge as they please with legislation or regulatory action.

…which is exactly what we’re looking at here.

And how did we get to that? How was such duopoly created? Through operating system developers having deliberately chosen to “give away their IP and services for free” to anyone and for most purposes.

We obviously disagree on you wanting to give the smaller firm in that resulting duopoly a free pass and exempt from all such legislation/regulation. Even though not in terms of units or users, they account for about half of that market (mobile app spend) in terms of revenue.

👉 Once you monopolise (“duopolise”) a market by giving away your IP and services for free, you’ve revoked your right to cherry-picking.

When you create a product it is your prerogative to decide how to present it. There is no zero upside to having porn in the App Store. All it would do is create a public relations disaster for Apple. Now when it is mentioned Apple can respond we do not allow that material in our App Store which is a good place to be.
 
Are there seriously people from US complaining about this here? The same country that “invented” porn and has the biggest porn industry in the world? Where basically a child of 18 can “act” in one of the movies but at the same time can’t have a beer after?
Talking about hypocrisy.

The way this AltStore thing works (NOT), no one is going to bother going through this convoluted process just to install some app to spite Apple. I’ve followed the process to install the app store and there are only 5 apps. Pff
