i can't install anything from Cydia, I can't even manage my account (for the things I purchased bitesms, rotator, 4g restrictor, iblacklist and who knows what else.) I need my sbs settins and i need fake carrier, and to change my font ughhh i waited so long for NOTHING?!?!

any sources needed?

oooOOh. Naughty, naughty.

----------

I've never, ever had a home button break on me; and I've owned them since the original. What do you do to your phone, torture it?

On my original iPod Touch, my first born did it in completely, then on my 3Gs my second born did the honours. They don't make these things 'toddler proof'.

Now that my kids are grown up, they know better. I have an iPhone 5 (which I don't let them touch) but I'm still paranoid that the home button will get wonky after time. I'm not too sure that my kids alone caused the home button to fail in the other devices, as the iPad's home button is still working (but then again, the iPad has the 4-finger pinch to home thing).

Ok. Speaking of a car without a motor. Mine blew on the way home from work :)

That blows.... [ no pun intended ] !! :(

I know how that feels though...Blew mine in college driving a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP [ God! I loved that car!! ] with the air/fuel ratio messed up and a real small pulley [ 2.9" vs the stock 3.6" iirc on the Eaton Supercharger ]

KR and A/F mess = Not Good!

Time to hit the junk yard for a new motor !

Read that other people were having issues with the phone staying stuck on the Apple logo (going into bootloops, not booting at all into the OS, etc.) so I tried it on my phone (64GB 4S running 6.1) and it booted up just fine. I did a normal shutdown (not the home button hold and power button reset) and it came back up into the OS as it should. Everything's running fine and the jailbreak was cake. Actually, one of the easiest and simplest jailbreaks since greenpois0n.

Only issue I'm having is Cydia not being able to download apps (HTTP errors and such) most likely due to their servers getting pounded, but that's unrelated to the jailbreak itself. It's been a while since I've had a device jailbroken and I've never had a phone jailbroken (just iOS devices like iPod touches) so it's nice to finally fully get the most out of it.

you and i sir are experiencing the same issues..i have not been able to download a single thing since i initially jail broke my iphone 5 earlier today. my question is since this is day one, how many days do you think its going to take until the traffic normalizes on their server?

I go through the pattern of jailbreaking, exploring what is possible with the jailbreak, finding some uses that are really cool, but ultimately decide to give up the jailbreak when an official update comes out. Here I go again.

WifiSMS was one of the more useful ones, before Messages started working reliably in OS X (though Messages only works amongst iOS devices). Activator is cool, but I wish it took the functionality it has much further. I actually have bought some apps off of Cydia, too.

I used to jailbreak back in the day for all the themes and tweaks. Now I don't really care and leave it stock lol. the main theme I will be jailbreaking for is tetherme :)

I'd say a couple of days before the stampede dies down....

i thought jailbraking partially meant you can get almost any app for free?

Jailbreaking gives you complete access to the device, which is normally restricted by iOS. Even official iOS app developers are subject to the restrictions of the "jail" that their apps run in and can do more with a jailbroken device.

Sure, it allows you to pirate an app, since it makes it possible to change any of the running software. So you can make it skip the check that validates that you own an app. But that is far from the most common usage of jailbreaking (in my estimation at least).

Jailbreaking the iPhone originated at a time when Apple's App Store didn't exist and hadn't even been announced -- it was the only way to get 3rd party apps onto the device. These days it allows you to achieve functionality that isn't possible due to Apple's restrictions.

Personally, I've never installed pirated software on my iPhone. I've paid for all my iOS apps, both from Apple's App Store and from Cydia. Cydia (the app store for jailbroken devices) has many apps that cost money and many of them are worth paying for.

My iPhone isn't jailbroken but I think I may.

If I jaibreak, can I use my iPhone to tether for free to my iPad?

i understand now... so some of the tweaks i might come across also have to be paid for correct? so its a business within a business.... and would that mean since it is jailbroken you cant pay for it through the app store which means you have to reput your credit card info thus giving cydia access to that information?

what exactly does jailbraking hold weight to... just tweeks? wow, i was under the impression jailbraking came with a app named cydia that had all the jailbroken apps"

Cydia gives you access to everything from apps to themes to tweaks. It in now way gives you any app you want for free.

That is theft. It may be possible with jailbreaking. Are you a thief?

It comes with Cydia, which is an appstore of sorts, with apps available through various repositories. It comes with a few standard repos, and you can add any you like. It allows access to many apps that Apple does not approve for their AppStore. Apps via Cydia are mostly not free, some of them are actually pretty expensive when compared to apps via Apple. Many tweaks are free.

I finally JBed and managed to get one app downloaded about 20 minutes ago. But then it got busy again. What, did everybody expect that 10pm would be the time to try again?

There's a JB app called MyWi that is a one time $20. It's well worth the cost. Very stable and it will create a wifi hotspot with your phone.

Has MyWi been updated so carriers cannot detect tethering? Or is that just not possible.

I'm on ATT's unlimited data plan and I'm using an iPhone 5. Won't they know if I'm using this app?

Hi guys, I just got my iPhone 5 last week. This will be my first iPhone and second iOS device (after the 4th gen iPod Touch). I really need your help. I want to download torrents using my iPhone.. Is that possible with Jailbreaking? No netflix in the country. I would love to subscribe but Netflix still isn't offered here so I really want to know if torrenting is possible in iOS. Thanks a lot!

I jailbroke today to find that I have to pay $5 for Intelliscreen X without any new features...

Pandora unlimited skips doesn't work....

And, wow, I guess Apple did literally add everything else I have been missing (minus maybe themes but those became more of a hassle than they were worth for me). I waited so long for this jailbreak to find I am pretty much happy without it! :)

Finally got a single app downloaded from Cydia after retrying countless times. It's an app that lets me share my phone's gps to my iPad via bluetooth. Works perfectly. No need to buy those expensive bluetooth gps receivers.
