Anyone else getting this?

Yeah, I get that too... unable to download any app at this point... I guess in a day or two, the traffic will settle and things will start working as intended!

As of now... we have a Ferrari w/o an engine! :p

this jailbreak is garbage. it goes like 50% of the way and then just freezes every time.

Dude, being incompetent is one thing, but being rude and ungrateful quite another.

Given how many people are reporting success, your comment is garbage....

Installous, and its developers, was shut down a long time ago. Darn. Looks like we'll have to jailbreak for the numerous other reasons.

As if places PIRATEBAY never had stuff like this.......... Its like someone saying megavideo got shut down, can never get a free video again....

Ok. Speaking of a car without a motor. Mine blew on the way home from work :)

So i updated to cydia. But how do i restore back to my regulor iOS?.
i did make a backup, connect to itunes and click restore backup?

Yip just restore as normal if you ever need to

so this jailbreak allows u to get all those paid apps off cydia?
never jailbroken iphone b4

Cydia does not hold pirated apps if thats what you are asking. Just think of it as an alternative app store but with tweaks for your device

----------

Question:

My power button (top one) is broken on my 4S.
Is there any way to jailbreak without the power button?

The only reason I have for jailbreaking is because I have heard that I could reroute the button to something else or at least have a better way of locking the screen other than the floating orb (assist touch)... is there really a better way to lock the screen with the jailbreak??

You dont need your power button for this jailbreak, but if you need to hard reset you do i believe

----------

If I jailbreak... can I run a Nintendo DS emulator on my iPad? :D I don't really care about the other stuff.

There are alot of emulators in cydia im sure there is one for the ds but have never searched for it

----------

just to make sure, i am new to this.
Is this illegal? to jailbreak and use tweaks. :apple:

Nothing illegal at all.

oh I just sat and watched it so there is a point where you need to open the jailbreak icon on your device before it makes the final injection, have you done that? mine is rebooting now all jailbroken

I gave up after it freezing 3 times.

Was only doing it on my old iphone4 to play around with it, but i'm done wasting my time. :/

right, because you know exactly how much I know about computers

If the software says to click "Jailbreak" and it should be done in 5 minutes, and 20 minutes later the app is frozen and needs to be forced quit, it's garbage.

All of my **** is up to date, there's no reason for it to be crashing other than poorly written software. Not surprising consider the nature of this thing to begin with.

Anyone ever heard the word patience. Give Cydia a couple of days for the madness to settle down. Gotta love the "I want it now or it sucks!" generation.

Will it really void your warranty, even after a restore?

Depends. Not if it is an issue with the actual hardware of the phone. I have also had friends with jailbroken phones that had software issues and had a phone replaced. It's kind of a case by case basis.

If Apple ever rips off the quick reply feature from BiteSMS, I would not have a reason to jailbreak anymore :p. I hope that they do...

I'll be Jailbreaking my iPhone 5 for:

* MMS with my carrier. Since Apple doesn't let me tweak the APN settings directly, and the iBackupBot trick doesn't work anymore.
* BiteSMS (already mentioned)
* f.lux - I loved this fine app with my iPhone 4. The iPhone 5 screen isn't quite as obnoxious in the evening when compared with the iPhone 4 so it seems like less of an issue but i will probably install anyway.
* MyWi

You can call it whatever you want, but there are hard working people in the world that don't violate thier contract and steal tethering. By you choosing to steal it without reservation, the implication is that the people who ARE choosing to do the right thing and abide their agreement are somehow suckers for doing so.

I wonder how many people admit to Apple they have violated their warranty when they have an issue (related or not) and they need warranty work?

I guess that's ok to steal that too?

Look, I really don't care what anyone does with their life if they don't matter to me. The world is full of hypocrites, liars, and people who steal. Whatever floats your boat...

You don't get it, or are intentionally being obtuse and rude. I already paid for my iPhone. I can't steal it. I already pay for my data connection. I'm not stealing it.
But I'm done dealing with your haughty and rude insinuations and your backhanded insults. Stop posting in a jailbreak thread.

Poorly written software would mean that the majority of people would have issues, which is not the case at all. so logic would dictate that it is more likely an issue of either your hardware or the user.

have you tried using a different download from a different mirror?
have you tried repairing your permissions?
have you tried resetting everything? try it with no other apps running in the background (ie mac tweaks)

don't accuse software for being poorly written when it seems to clearly be isolated to your own experience. :)

If you pay for 5GB of data ON YOUR PHONE and hack your phone to be able to share some of it with your iPad in order to circumvent the pricing scheme to charge for that option, what would you call it?

I'd call it using the data I paid for. I also pay for water in my sink. That doesn't mean I can't put that water in a bottle and take it to the park. The water company doesn't charge me more to e able to use the water in different places or different ways. Nor should att/whoever charge me again to use the data I already pay for in different ways, in different places, or on different devices.

This jailbreak essentially adds a brown cydia icon and does nothing else.

Cydia still down...

Adds a brown icon and so much potential...

I've waited a few months to be able to update to 6.x. I'm down to wait a couple days for cydia's servers to calm down. I know the goodness thats coming, and dealing with a factory phone for a bit will only make it better!

Is that I can't update the iOS OTA after the jailbreak? This is the deal breaker for me. I don't mind my jailbreak tweaks being killed after upgrading but I cannot tolerate the hideous process of upgrading through iTunes anymore, and I don't sync my apps to iTunes now.
