I feel like and read some inconsistency in the measuring guides for solo bands so hoping someone out there is my size on a sports band and knows the equivalent in solo. 3rd hole on a 45mm sports band M/L size

This is the best, and easiest way I’ve found to measure your wrist using a sport band.

It looks like you’re using the same hole I do on my sport bands, and for me that equates to a Size 8 (in the Solo Loop). For a Braided Solo Loop, I’d probably go with a 7 because they tend to stretch over time, although you can bring them back to size by washing them in the washing machine in a small garment bag then run them through a dryer cycle.

Also... @ValhallaOutcast ditch the M/L dude. You can pull off a S/M easily, and it's less overlap. That lets your wrist breathe better and traps way less sweat.

This is a really good point and I should start doing that, at least in the hot summers. 👍🏻
I ditched M/L a long time ago and going back to it feels weird. I'm about the same spot on M/L as @ValhallaOutcast though maybe a hole closer to the top of the band and I wear the S/M on its second to last hole (sometimes 3rd to last too, I honestly can't tell the difference sometimes because they both hug my wrist with about the same strength) which is way more comfortable. It also just looks better, especially on the Nike sport bands, since you can pretty much see through the band.

Only place I can see the extra length helping is if you're diving into pools, but at that point, just get a solo loop or sport loop.

I go no case on my iPhone so at least I don't have to got into that rabbit hole of wanting 100 different cases but now that I have a watch I can see I am in for some trouble lol

wish that fog blue or bright green available in sports loop came in the solo loop, does Apple constantly add new colours or is it sporadic ?

For anyone curious, here’s Cornflower Sport Band vs Blue Fog (iPhone case).

And yes, for anyone with the Sierra Blue phone, I 100% recommend the Blue Fog Silicone Case, couldn’t be a more perfect match.

I’ve recently wondered if there’s an actual difference between Space Gray and Space Black or if it’s just a marketing grace note from when Apple was all about bundles. We all look at the Nike pins as black but when they bo to label them, they were Space Gray.

Is there a solid comparison between the newer 'midnight' black bands? Or are they all pretty much the same, sans the PIN. Because you can get a Midnight black band with a graphite PIN and surely when you buy the Midnight alum it comes with a stainless steel pin yeah? The PIN being the only difference?

Last year they moved Black2 to graphite stainless steel pin for the pack-in with the Graphite watch sold outside Apple.

If I recall correctly they still sold Black2 a la carte or for your Apple dot com band selector with the Space Black pin. Or maybe it was the identical SG pin because vanilla SBSS wasn’t sold anymore. I forget.

This year they only sell one Midnight and it only has a graphite stainless steel pin.

Here’s Black2black (top) and Black2graphite (bottom)

Useful! I could have sworn people said that the new 'Midnight' had a hint of blue but Black2 never did from what memory serves. I always preferred Black1 - because it was actually very black, and mimic'd the Hermes black band etc.

Yes midnight does have a hint of blue.

Just like you can no longer get a truly neutral aluminum case (though I think in reality Starlight’s bigger ‘crime’ is killing gold aluminum than being too gold and MA reads black most of the time), you can’t get a dark, truly neutral sport band outside of the Edition range.

Which is…more than ok with me. I love the idea of everyone who just goes for the “black on black” setup rocking that subtly blue look after years of SGA+black. I wonder how many people rocked/rock the S3 with gray sport band. Love gray sport band.

Another Gotcha moment - scored a new and sealed Capri band for £17 to add to my collection. My first summer blue! Looking forward to gwetting it but gather it's quite a rare one?
It’s rare in the sense that it seems people who have it are holding onto it, like Plum. So you don’t see a lot for resale. We’re now past a year since its launch so maybe there will finally be a wholesale dump soon.

Otherwise there’s no such thing as a rare band anymore because we all know in the “forum crazies” era to buy the good ones before Apple discontinues them lol.

Aha good point, I have been looking for a new blue but it was only one of your comparison shots that drew my attention to it! I actually like the pictures everyone uploads so much more than the hero shots. Yeah plum is another I am sort of after but my case is now going to be full so just gonna wait for a cheap one :)
