If it makes you feel any better I am a little freaked not being able to get AppleCare+ on this watch. Though I think I finally figured out some third party insurance options. Weirdly the two most common third party insurance companies, SquareTrade and Upsie, won’t sell insurance for used devices bought outside of eBay (SquareTrade) or a select few places (Upsie).
It automatically comes in with 2 year Apple warranty :apple: 👍 😃

Unless it's a demo unit or something and Apple won't honor the warranty!
I feel like if it’s a demo Apple won’t just deny you service, they’d want their demo back. Those can only be unlocked by Apple, so that means your Watch has a shady background..

edit: want to add, I heard somewhere demo units have funky serial numbers. if your serial number looks a bit off and your watch has a shady background, may want to avoid talking to Apple about it.

Yeah, but that doesn’t cover accidental damage and I currently have a broken arm and torn calf ligament from falling off a bike two weeks ago. This is also the third iPhone X I’m on since the first the back glass shattered and the second Face ID broke (hardware defect, but still). So I’d really like to buy a plan with accidental damage if possible. AppleCare specialist looked up the serial number and told me they could have sold it to me had the device sat in the box for the last eight months and the original owner not activated it.

I had a running conversation with the seller, with immediate replies... until I asked him to confirm that it was authentic, functional, and able to be activated. Then he went silent. Guess I'll stay away.

Cracked my phone a while back after getting shoved between classes, and ever since then I’ve been veeery careful with my watch, but I gotta say it’s hard to crack one of these. I’ve smashed it into doors, scraped it against brick walls, even dropped it once (onto thin carpet granted) from chest height putting it on, and it barely has a scratch.

anyways, now I only put on/take off bands over carpet. 80% of my house is tile, and I’m too scared to switch bands or put on my watch walking around.

Wow, that doesn’t seem shady at all... I guess that explains the price. Honestly with mine I was worried it might not activate or be a demo or something but I got really lucky, especially since I found out after ordering that Mercari has awful support, so I don’t think I’d order anything that pricey through them again. At least on eBay if you had a problem like that I think I you’d have no issue getting your money back.

Yeah, see I want to be calm and reassure myself I’d be okay but then I saw this post when looking for AppleCare+ alternative options (also, what is this imposter Apple Watch forum?!).

Yeah, I hear it time and time again that S0-S2 devices are practically tanks compared to newer models.

hope you find some sort of solution. I’d want to know I’m safe with such an expensive device as well!

Thanks, yeah, I found an option from a company that seems reputable but it’s considerably more than AppleCare+. I’m trying to see if there are any cheaper options from reputable places otherwise I’ll buy from them.

OK, he finally responded and confirmed it's authentic and able to be activated. I also got him down to $750 so I went ahead and purchased. I guess if it's not as described, eBay and my credit card company have recourse.
Great deal, congrats!

Also, if it’s not too late, assuming the watch is over 60 days old and doesn’t have AppleCare+, buy the SquareTrade warranty from eBay. The other company I found for warranties/insurance seems reputable and has great coverage, but it’s considerably more expensive than SquareTrade and eBay is the only place SquareTrade will sell you a warranty on a used device.

Thanks Apple, but at that point, I think I’d rather keep it...

Thanks for posting that auction link, man! I've been wanting to get my hands on one of these for a while but full retail was too hard to swallow.
Definitely let us know how it is when you get it. I love the ceramic, but even at $750 it's hard to do haha

If anyone finds a S2 or S3 ceramic for a good price, at that point I may be interested!

My floors are terrazzo. I feel ya. I tend to put mine on while seated on edge of my bed, with arm over the bed - just in case.

SO that Celestial Teal band that was mentioned here earlier (sold for $15 on last night) is showing as cancelled and relisted by the same seller up for $80+ shipping (Not an unfair price actually). Out of curiousity I messaged the seller to ask why it was relisted. She said someone messaged her today to tell her she should have sold it for higher and should cancel the order with links to ebay listings, etc...

Interestingly, this has happened to me personally several times over the last few months, both as a seller and a buyer. Seems like someone gets a little SALTY when they miss a posting, and decides to kill it for basically anyone else. Don’t mind my venting... just kind of a pathetic tactic to implement.

Wow, that is terrible. I saw that listing last night and was sad that I missed it by 5 mins, but I can’t imagine someone would do that to the buyer. So the poor guy who originally bought it just got told its no longer available even after he paid?! Terrible. And to relist it. I did think the pics today looked familiar, esp with that used look almost like they were more carefully handpicked and better ordered today. I’ve never had this been done to me by a seller and I agree very unethical to say the least.

I’m surprised the seller was so honest with you, did it sound like she felt bad about the whole thing after the fact?

Is that how you got your reddit handle from the reply you give people who stare at you while you’re buried with your watch in the carpet? 😉
Actually got my reddit handle because I was in a bad mood the day I made my account. That's pretty much it. Would love to change it, but reddit doesn't allow that.

Their trade-in value has gotten almost insulting. It was much better when series 4 came out. I think I got $175 for my series 3 when upgrading to my series 4. Now I think the max they will give you no matter if it is SS or a sports is $100 for the most recent series.
Would be interesting to see @Pitch's ceramic trade in value.
