Things are still unclear what all exactly is coming through the press release. We can only hope!
So he’s officially doubling down. I’m still going with my theory that L0vetodream doesn’t know what he’s talking about and we’ll see a watch on Tuesday. Then all the press that doubted Prosser will have to wipe the egg off their face.

Have to wait and see, not long now, but something I think lies in his favour is, well, shortly before the new iPad Pro's were released earlier this year, their new model numbers showed up, were added to the commission of something, right? And isn't that whats happened here with the new watches (but not iPhone)?

But yes for me I'm very keen to see the new watch bands (and possibly any new Titanium colours/other new materials) and especially if my beloved Classic Buckle has been brought out of retirement

Do we think those weird bubble leather loops are coming out too, or was that a fake?
Those things were confirmed fake I believe.

I sadly doubt the classic buckle will be coming back.

Nope. Those weren’t really anything other than cancelled prototypes, if even.

Unfortunately the classic buckles likely won’t be brought back. I just can’t see Apple reviving a dead style.

Ohh well and likewise I haven't purchased a new leather band since 2018 when the Classic Buckles were discontinued because I honestly find the Modern Buckle not appealing at all. And not to mention in Australia it actually also costs a small fortune more than the already pricey Classic Buckle.

But on the positive, my wallet has thanked me, but if they made leather loops for 40mm, I could definitely see myself getting a Meyer Lemon / Cornflower / Peacock one, those are gorgeous

Don't forget the Modern Buckle itself was a dead style too, it literally was brought back in September 2018 after being in oblivion for a while, first it never had any colour refreshes for a long time, then Apple removed it from the store altogether

Apple has revived a dead style in the past though. The Modern Buckle was discontinued for about a year before suddenly being revived with the S4. I’m not saying I think the Classic Buckle is coming back (I don’t think it is-too similar to the Hermès leather bands). But, a style being discontinued doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t be coming back.

So do you think there’s any chance of the worst-case scenario? Just an iPad release with no watch bands?

At a MINIMUM we get new fall bands and the iPad. With the watch being sold out of most every configuration it would be insane for them not to announce the watch too.

what i’ve been thinking about is this... if the new watch os NEEDS iOS 14, and new watches have to ship with the new watch OS, then they cant release new watches until iOS 14 is released to the public...

if iOS 14 is not yet released to the publice, then the watches wont come...right? i mean, i may be wrong on all of this. if they dont release a new watch, will they release the new bands?

AND IF, if they release just the bands, my plan for the fall has been to get some of the bands included in my watch purchases, because i may buy multiple watches and that would take care of some of the new band releases... but if they release just bands, would i wait till the watches are released so that the bands are part of the watch price, making more financial sense, or if i buy bands next week... i’ll end up getting watches with just bands i already have... i dont know...

if i dont buy bands next week, and then next month watches get released and i buy a watch with a band that was super popular, will that push my watch delivery back because there’s a shortage of a really popular band that is now sold out...

i’m sure all of this is just me WAAAAY overthinking things....

This is just an announcement. Not a release.

No dude all very salient points. I think iOS 14 is imminent. The current beta feels at most two hops from GM. I could see it being ready a week after September 8th, a few days after the pre-order, a few days before delivery day.

But yeah the band purchase situation is frustrating. Although @mikedop pointed out to me that the studio is much more chill now letting you pair whichever band you want with whatever case (not Nike or Hermes), rather than forcing you into more narrow pairs (maybe this mostly affects the Edition, which you couldn’t get with a sport band when Studio launched; although I guess aluminum+leather might appeal to some).

I think the major weirdness with the idea of bands without the s6 launch is for people who might want a hypothetical new color watch case probably wanting to see the watch before they dive in on bands.
