Totally agree.
WHY CAN’T THEY JUST GIVE US PURPLE-PURPLE!!

I want a Sport Band and Solo Loop in Mauveine.

This color is 100% perfection.
Hopefully this makes someone do a double-take.

Not gonna lie, seeing them next to each other makes me realize how red plum is...

Whyyy can’t this be real!? I would buy that color in an instant. Waiting to see real life pictures of Plum.
I’d love to deep-fake this color onto someone’s wrist, but my skills only let me match the color to northern blue, which I didn’t order. Maybe once it pops up on eBay. Or if @athousandbands is grabbing one and doesn’t mind me coloring his bands.

Those with the braided solo loop, how much does it stretch over time? I bought a size 5 but am thinking I’m probably a size 6 but none available until Jan 2021.

Wondering if I should let it stretch or return and wait...

I might be in a list of one, but I'm waaaaaayyyyyy more into Plum as a dark red (Burgundy or just wine red as @geekiemac said) than any kind of purple.

I've been hanging out for a nice bottle green and a nice dark red for ages. Cyprus is close to the green I wanted - a bit too dark perhaps - and I think Plum will be the equivalent in dark red.

That's not to say I wouldn't like a purple as well; looking back I'm sick and tired of Apple's "not quite" colours. Even as recently as last drop we got Blue Black / Bright Mango which is the most recent in a huuuuge line of "not quite" band colours. Bright Mango is pinky orange. Why not just a proper orange? And why not just straight black rather than Blue Black also while we're at it?

We had the same with Khaki and Pine greens. Both were OK if a bit heavy on the meh, with one too browny and the other too bluey to be proper greens. I could list more.

Anyway it goes without saying that I've ordered Plum, Northern Blue and Kumquat, but they won't get here until Tuesday.

As I'm on a rant I may as well add this is also a new Apple trend I don't like; we used to get next working day delivery in NZ if ordered by 3pm - that was exactly what they would say. Now an order placed on Thursday morning (because I was busy yesterday and didn't know about the new bands until late afternoon and had missed the Wednesday cutoff) doesn't arrive until Tuesday.

Last on the rant list is that I ordered my 12 Pro Max and my wife's 12 Mini for launch day delivery. I happened to spot on Monday that they were waiting for payment (but Apple didn't proactively tell me that). After several unsuccessful attempts to update my payment details on line and two calls to Apple, with a call to my bank between, it transpired Apple Pay was stuffed. We then cancelled Apple Pay and charged the card associated with that account over the phone and it went straight through. Then I see the estimated delivery for the Pro Max had slipped to 2nd December. So I lose my launch day delivery after waiting up until 1am to order because Apple Pay failed.

Now my Pro Max is hopefully coming tomorrow through a reseller, but once its opened I have to keep it. I don't think it will be too big coming from an 11 Pro Max, but equally I've been underwhelmed by the real world camera improvements over the 12 Pro (or even regular 12 in fact) that I see in reviews and I might be just as happy with the 12 Pro. So tomorrow I need to find a reseller with a demo 12 Pro Max on display (itself not a given based on the demo stock I have seen for the 12; only the regular 12 in Blue and no Pro demo available) to decide if I want to keep it before I open the plastic wrap.

I haven't even decided which Apple Silicon to order. Apple hasn't provided any useful way to choose between an Air and a Pro. How throttled with the Air be through its fanless design compared to the Pro with proper dynamic cooling..?

Wow what a list. Is the delayed delivery an NZ thing? Here and in most of Asia I see next day delivery is still definitely a thing, and paid for my 12 mini with Apple Pay, went through all right. However I do know that if you hit your card limit and Apple can't charge you you will go through hell. So I make it a point to pay my card bills a day or two before Preorder Day. Personally think having a phone with slightly better camera hardware is still better than having one with slightly worse camera hardware, no matter if it is obvious currently or not. They tend to improve the quality of the camera over time with updates for new iPhones with improved hardware. And if you are already a Max user, you are used to the additional money for the bigger screen and battery anyway. The camera is just a nice bonus.

My Apple Pay is linked to a regular bank account and I made sure there was sufficient money in there to cover the order before I checked out, so it didn't bounce through lack of funds. I actually used Apple Pay rather than the MasterCard Debit associated with the account because I thought it would be smoother...

As of now the reseller hasn't billed me for the Pro Max. In their blurb they said they ship pre-orders no later than 4pm the day before release unless otherwise stated, so long as the preorder is made 3 more more working days before launch date. I assume they have stock in country in that case, but they do have weasel-words "subject to supplier availability" or similar in there. They are a big electronics supplier and most of their pre-order stuff is probably games for PS and Xbox, but I assume they themselves secured a number of units from Apple ahead of launch and I'm hoping they would have highlighted stock issues if those were all pre-sold. They have four hours 26 minutes left to ship as I write...

I think the Max will be OK. I don't find the 11 Pro Max too big and dropping size might be hard initially. I skipped the XS altogether and of course we all had to go with the same screen size for the X - though it was fractionally bigger than the 7 Plus I was coming from in a smaller device so that was OK too.

Next day delivery used to be a pretty much guaranteed with Apple - at least with orders filled from Sydney, which was watch bands, accessories and popular / default combos or non BTO Macs. If it's a Covid thing they could just say so somewhere because it feels a lot like poorer service. I guess I'm just feeling a bit jaded by the Apple experience lately as it's not as slick as it used to be. I had issue with payment for the last band drop and checking out with Apple Pay didn't link it to my iCloud account so that was un-Apple also, and a mess to sort out, albeit it was because I did let the balance drop $6 below what Apple tried to bill (on a Sunday evening after I went to bed with it all being OK).

I'd love to see a nice dark red / burgundy, but I look at "Plum" and see reddish brown. Maybe it'll look better in sunlight. And agreed that they keep giving us "chef's interpretations" rather than actual strong colors - I'd love a proper chromatic green in several brightnesses, kelly green to forest green. But as far as orange goes, "Vitamin C", of recent vintage, was quite a lovely straightforward orange.

I also went from a Size 5 to a 6 - haven’t noticed it stretch at all, and have worn in most days since release. I don’t think Apple’s ‘may stretch’ disclaimer applies to the Braided Loops, so may be more durable.
