I'd love to see a nice dark red / burgundy, but I look at "Plum" and see reddish brown. Maybe it'll look better in sunlight. And agreed that they keep giving us "chef's interpretations" rather than actual strong colors - I'd love a proper chromatic green in several brightnesses, kelly green to forest green. But as far as orange goes, "Vitamin C", of recent vintage, was quite a lovely straightforward orange.
My wife has all the oranges, so I'd have to go look, but I think you might be right. I want a straight orange as the perforations in a black Nike SB though.

Kumquat makes Papaya look like Hermes orange

Update to my rant: The reseller didn't take my money by long after their shipping deadline, nor did they ever tell me I wouldn't get it on launch day. As it turns out their competitor who was being a bit vague about stock on Monday was able to tell me today they have 4 Graphite Pro Max in my size available in my local branch, so it's now paid for and I collect it tomorrow.

Whew! I'd better like the blimmin' thing - I wasn't sure I was going to bother until late last week.

I’m not sure what I think of that
Yeah it’s a neutral enough picture but begs for some reference points and context. Obviously richer in color than the hero shot (shocker). If it is “blue cactus” as it appears, I wonder if it has a Scandinavian ice flow glow to match the succulent effect of cactus. Otherwise it seems to slot in at the same level of appeal as most blues.

And of course, it is probably closer to Celestial Teal than Cactus.

Sorry for going crazy with postings. I am new and want to be sure to have enough postings to be eligible for the marketplace when the time comes.
Quick tip - As it's 250 posts AND 6 months, you don't need to post them all on day one ;)

I hit 250 a while ago without trying too hard, but I still need to wait another month for the Golden Gates to open...

I might be in a list of one, but I'm waaaaaayyyyyy more into Plum as a dark red (Burgundy or just wine red as @geekiemac said) than any kind of purple.

I've been hanging out for a nice bottle green and a nice dark red for ages. Cyprus is close to the green I wanted - a bit too dark perhaps - and I think Plum will be the equivalent in dark red.

Agree!

No pictures, but I tried on the Ginger Solo Loop at the Apple Store, and I have to say I was a little surprised. A little less like Canary Yellow than I was expecting, rather had some creamy shades in it, not dissimilar to Pollen, but mind you this was a store where daylight was shining through on it. Overall though definitely much closer to Canary. I quite like it. Seems almost more of a summer colour, and interestingly is the only sport band colour released this fall that was not made available for any other Apple accessory (including iPhone 12 case)
