If this is true I'm mad, because last night I had my iPhone in my cart on Apple.com and was ready to buy it, but then it said it only could be shipped to the billing address, and I wasn't going to be at the billing address on June 24, so I canceled the order. If I could have changed the shipping address I would have gotten my preorder in for the 24th. Now I'll have to wait until at least July to get mine. Stupid billing address/shipping address policy!

I just changed mine, but im thinking of changing it back to my at&t billing address.

i have a feeling this is going to jack up something changing the address

Not if you change your AT&T address, too. It won't be a problem if they match.

I haven't received a confirmation email about my changed shipping address. How long did that take you?

I got mine in about 30 minutes.

Thank you OP

Just changed mine, I'm gonna be out of state so I'm having it shipped to the temporary mailbox I got at the ups store. They will sign for it, & text me when it gets there. I thought I was gonna have to drive 5 hours to wait for it.. Thanks again OP!

SO are people doing just the shipping address at Apple or are they changing their AT&T address too?

I changed mine yesterday. Received a confirmation of change email within 15 minutes. The address change was so fast that Apple email me about the new changes before my order confirmation.

Yeah, I updated mine this morning cause my AT&T billing address wasn't up to date because I have paperless billing:p so both are now up to date

I am a new AT&T customer so I can't go in and change my address on their site - only the shipping address thru Apple.

I'm hesitant to change it and screw up the order.

So does anyone know if its safe to change just the Apple shipping address? I'd really like to do this but really don't want to mess up my order.

I changed my shipping address after I entered the order. I really don't understand why they're placing that restriction on orders. Are people stealing credit cards to buy iPhones? Some other problem?

Anyway, I'll see if they generate an exception email or something. If it messes up the order, no big deal. I can live with my 3GS a couple of weeks longer. ; )

Btw, when you go to change the shipping address, they say:

"Also please note that a signature is required for delivery of your package(s), so we suggest you choose a shipping address, such as your workplace, where you know there will be someone to sign."

Gee, maybe there's a valid reason for having your order shipped somewhere other than your home. LOL

I changed my shipping address, and then i changed my billing address in the at&t system.

But the billing address on my order is obvious still the original address i ordered with. And cant be changed. I have a feeling that could be the problem maker.

I tried to call apple to ask if its ok if they ship to another address, but got the PISS OFF message.

I think i might just change it back. Worst case, i have to go pick it up from fedex like i did last year for my 3GS.

I'll try to dig up a little more info i guess though

The address change on APPLE.COM should be valid. I live in New Jersey but I work in New York City which means both have different tax rates (7% vs 8% in NY). Once I changed the shipping address to NYC, an APPLE message on the site said that they are updating the total on my order. This means I paid the NYC tax rate (more) so theoretically it should be sent to my work address.

I did BOTH, just to prevent any hassles.

I changed both too. I can just see them double checking before shipment and being sticklers about both the AT&T billing and shipping addresses matching. I don't want this shipment screwed up.

That said, I had to order my wife's through the AT&T website. I hope this doesn't screw her order up though.

What would be actually normal would be to only ship to the billing address of the credit card.

Here's my thought process...

The order is now out of AT&T's hands so changing the billing address with AT&T doesn't matter. I changed mine anyway.

The billing address on Apple's site needs to match the credit card billing address.

When the order/eligibility check went through, I'm sure it was checked with AT&T's site.

The only thing that could mess this all up is if Apple verifies with AT&T again but I really think, at this point, the phones will all just be shipped with whatever Apple has on their website.
