I’m on an iPhone 13 Pro now, and after watching that video I’m not certain I want to make the jump to 16 Pro. The only thing that has me interested is Apple Intelligence.

Also, can anyone confirm whether or not the Steve Jobs Theater still exists?

Over a hundred thousand highly paid Apple employees worked for a year to give us these? I mean do they not have a single person working on the AirPods Max? Couldn’t even be bothered dropping in a new chip. Just new colors and usb c… for $550. Ditto Apple Watch Ultra.

Lazy and extremely greedy.
The AirPods Max really were the biggest shocker of the event. Like you said, I can’t believe they didn’t even put the new chips in that the AirPods Pro have for over a year now and still ask for the same price as four (!) years ago. It’s like keeping the iPhone 12 Pro in the line up and selling it for the same price as is 2020. It’s ridiculous. I really hope no one buys them.

I’m still most impressed with the hearing protection/test/aids that’s going to be added to the AirPods Pro 2. That’s a huge deal, even if it’s being underplayed.
Agreed. Innovation I think is the term used to describe things like this !

And still that awful requirement to put it in the case to activate standby.

You accidently said that pro max starts at 1099$ for the 128gb model, but that does not exist, it only begins at 1199$ for 256gb.

I am into getting a new Apple Watch and AirPods 4.

This years iphone did not impress me at all. maybe the 4k 120 frames recording is a plus.

but only 15 percent increase in the new cpu power. not good enough to buy this year.

I will wait for the 2 nm Apple silicon. biggest and best boost in performance.

Translated for todays gen: the AirPod max and ultra 2 Apple Watch updates clap hard af, Apple slayed it!

Translated back to boomer talk: all this for a color update and usbc? Are you f’ing kidding me?!

I know this is a very "MacRumors forum" thing to say but... This was boring as hell.

I watched the whole keynote and it felt like I was at work having to sit through some lengthy presentation where the presenter was showboating and aiming for promotion by overbaking the cake.

The amount of my attention Apple demanded for just the AirPods section alone, for example, was really badly judged. They could've summed-up the whole thing in 10 minutes. 15 minutes, tops. They kept cutting to this person, then that person, then this there person, and honestly, my patience was pushed to its limit. My God, haven't they finished with this subject, yet? No. We have to sit through Apple basically showing off, and scratching its own itches.

Net Zero 2030.
Net Zero 2030.
Net Zero 2030.
Net Zero 2030.
Net Zero 2030.

DID YOU GET THAT?

Everything announced was perfectly good. These are great devices. But it's very hard to make the case for upgrading if you've bought any of their predecessors over the last 2 or 3 years, or even the last 4 or 5 years. The biggest draw is always the camera but we've all come to know the images will be processed to hell, so that you can't zoom in even 2x without seeing "machine learning in action".

New AI features! Coming to the US! In a while! You can wait, right?! And we in non-US countries just love being treated like second-class citizens! We realise the mother country is the most important.

Apple's always had tick-tock cycles, but this year really is a very muffled tick. This is an S year in all but name.

Translation for Apple color team: This is an Ultramarine color

not this washout rubbish released yesterday. I was so ready to get that Blue and... rumors again proved as useful as snooze button on smoke alarm.

It was extremely disappointing event. Super light on details. In a way Apple snake-oil salesmen/women behave like malignant narcissists. Using constantly superlatives is sign of serious neurological issues and normal people don't do it. The best, the best, the best. Everything is the best. With 0 hard data to prove it. I'm not cultist and take every event as cold and ground level as possible.

I'm leaning for basic iP16P, because battery pack in my oldie is really on last legs. Mega disappointed that iPP line up didn't received 20Gb/s USB speeds like 3rd gen iPadPro. it is beyond stupid locking out functionality that is already in the silicon, but is limited artificially. Probably the only positive is that both Pros are exactly the same system now -the screen size = neat camera improvements at lower price point. Waiting for thermal testing to see how new heat shield on battery will behave in practice.

I think that is officially the worst product launch in years. Color changes, minor spec bumps and a button. Almost everything actually impressive will be from their AI push and none of that will come at launch and most the good stuff wont be for months or until next year.
I think you are being optimistic about when AI will be truly ready and fit for purpose. I’m thinking five years minimum. Sure they will release it before that, but that won’t mean it’s actually ready, just the marketing department wouldn’t wait any longer.

This was probably the most disappointing keynote that I remember.

Disappointing because it was another perfectly-executed incremental advancement of the iPhone platform?

Better everything, but not good enough because it's not "different" on the outside?

Think hard about what makes Apple successful, and how we benefit from that.

It's another year of improvements.

They should have called this event, Phone It In. Or It's Jargon Time! because it's certainly not Glowtime.

Seriously though, it's actually hard to even know what's new. Announcing 5 products with near zero new real features and sell them like it's earth-shattering progress is the real innovation.

Apple Watch Ultra 2 is just a color. After 5 years Airpods Max have....new colors. Not sure how this is even possible since all the hardware to advance this has already been developed. I'm not sure what is new about the Apple Watch? You know what I've never ever said about the iPhone Pro Max? I wish it was bigger. I have said, I wish the battery life was better, which is the iPhone's only meaningful feature—battery life.

No wonder why Warren Buffett sold that many Apple shares this year. Curious how sales will result next year end.

AAPL price remains unchanged from the event, which is not surprising because most of the stock movement is driven by forward guidance which remains strong.

As for Apple's sales, I'm confident they will remain relatively constant, as the vast majority of Apple's customers upgrade their device only every 3-5 years and what was released today (apart from the AirPods Max... yikes) will be miles ahead of whatever Apple device they are replacing, so it will feel like a major upgrade to them.

I think as humans we often focus on getting a "super cycle" where the upgrades are so significant or attractive that it inspires people to upgrade sooner, but those are few and far between and not Apple's bread and butter.

What a joke. Apple really pushing their lazy incrementalism with these minimal annual updates.

AW S10 is thinner with a bigger screen — great! But no new health sensors and SpO2 not resolved? And what’s with the hideous large bezels? For the Ultra, last year’s model gets a new color and some hideous Hermes bands. Come on…

The 4-year-old AirPods Max got a port update and… that’s it.

iPhones’ RAM and cameras are behind the Pixel Pro 9. But hey, the A18 “challenges latest desktop processors” so you can load TikTok filters faster, I guess? And boy are they pushing AI as the next big thing with iPhone to fill up time.

Don’t worry though: everything’s carbon neutral!!!!!!
The same meager 18 hours battery life for the Apple Watch. Huawei watch looks the same (blatant copy), offers more possibilities, 10 days battery life and costs less than an Applewatch SE.

As for the AirPods Max… you forgot to mention the new “breathtaking” colors it comes now. Same price for 5 year old tech. I guess usb c and those colors are quite expensive 🤪

I think people are always looking for the next super cycle and think if it's just incremental gains, no one will upgrade.

What they forget is that the vast majority of Apple's customers don't upgrade every year, but rather every 3-5 years, which means today's devices are MILES ahead of their previous Apple devices.

What compromises do you reckon they made to get the battery from 1 day to 10 days?

And when you answer that, ask what possibilities it can't offer the user that the Apple Watch can because of them.

I am wondering too what all these people in apple campus are working on. Maybe they are all just walking around apple park and thats it.
