I'm currently using the iPhone 13 Pro Max and don't plan on upgrading just yet. I'd love to harness the power of Thunderbolt 4 USB-C for faster data transfers and connect an external monitor to potentially replace my laptop or desktop computer.

Wouldn't that be amazing?

However, it's quite disappointing that USB-C is currently limited to USB 3 speeds (5Gb/s or 10Gb/s). It's rather ironic considering that USB 3 or 3.1 was released in 2008 or 2013.

Yeah, the pic with Tim Cook and blurry servants made me think of Baron Harkonnen in the first Dune movie.

Is he staring at "mother nature"? What a nonsense, Apple!! Tim, your done. It is time to leave now.

I haven't watched this video yet but is this just basically the keynote with the awful way too long Mother Nature bit removed from it?

Can we go back to live events? What do you think?
I would love that, but I don’t think Apple would go for it. Now that they’ve had a taste of what it feels like to be in full control of a Keynote, they’ll never go back to having a live audience, or they will, but it will be a taped presentation, like today’s was.

Talk about polishing a turd. Not much here - then again to keep people buying "new stuff" Apple has to make it seem as though your life will end if you don't have the latest. Ok so I have a 7 and an 11 Pro Max - so yes, I will consolidate and probably go for a 15 Pro dual SIM. Otherwise, Ultra 1 and AirPods are fine for the foreseeable future.
The mother nature skit - would Jobs have done that? A signpost for just how far Apple has drifted. Was hard to watch. Only mulligan I will give them is people expect massive innovation in 12 month cycles. It won't happen again and it is unreasonable to expect thee events to live up to the advance hype.

The whole event seemed a bunch of tech specs with little actual use case. The only thing I liked was using a beacon to find people in a crowded spot.

Why do I care that the chip is faster? What does it do that’s better?

I think the most interesting thing about the event was not seeing a Mac Pro in any of the workspaces. Hopefully not a harbinger of thngs to come.
Even Apple doesn’t believe in its own products. Mac Pro won’t see a significant update in years to come. History is repeating itself.

I like the accident detection available with the 14 and obviously now 15. My AW 7 still works perfectly fine, so no urge to upgrade. I am hoping for a 24" iMac upgrade yet this year, but we shall see.

They dropped the A17 pro/M3 core information… And it is VERY promising. More then expected imho.

Feature parity with Nvidia with RT raytracing, neural engines working with gpu cores to upscale and uprez…

Just only the A17 pro information was top tier. Now we get to know the estimate speed of the M3 cores when iPhone 15 pro gets reviewed.

Apple should throw in a sparkler or a little whizzy doodad that makes a funny sound for the flip-phone crowd… They just want something funny and silly. I am good with the A17…

Oh yeah, and spatial photography/filming on the iPhone pro is an AMAZING addition. In one fell swoop they created a whole platform for 180VR content creation. IF you have tried VR, you know that content is meager and barely there.

Now the iPhone 15 pro will be a big boost. Hopefully the quality will be good.

I see a lot of disappointment here but there aren't going to be gigantic leaps in the phone technology every 6 months. The A17 processor and the addition to the overall operating system are amazing. I'm not sure what people want in a phone. It's a phone after all and not a laptop or desktop computer. These innovations take time to reach the optimum level. If you don't like the improvements, wait to upgrade until you see a phone/camera/computer/internet device that you want.

How is it a minus exactly?
Apple was once known for "just works". It was achieved by cutting down the feature set (80/20) that worked extremely well and simple. So was the mute button.

The new Action button has a ton of different options and configuration behind, so it increases complexity (once again). In addition, accidental pressing may occur (e.g. in a trouser pocket).

Under Tim, Apple added a lot of new features every year. Unlike Tim, Jobs was a minimalist who also had almost no home furnishings. Jobs' influence led to a device that was impressively easy to use - even for people who had absolutely no experience with computers.

Many of the iOS features could have been outsourced as an app to keep the base OS lean and simple.

So what about the rumored black version of the Apple Watch Ultra II? Seems that was a hoax. I wonder if Apple secretly spreads those leaks to damage the reputation of leakers.

I like what I’ve seen of the iPhone 15, but I am in no rush to get one. I’m going to wait and see what happens with the iPhone SE next year (I assume next year). I don’t expect it to be as good as the 15, but I do want my smaller phone.

If a new SE stays relatively-small and gets somewhat-decent hardware, that could be the one to go with. If not I’ll accept that small phones are the past and upgrade from my 12 Mini to the iPhone 15 (but not the 15 Pro Max because that’s way too big, lol).
