Good summary. Looking forward to enhancements on split view / multitasking on iPad. I always find not as intuitive as it could be (ie always forget how to open /close apps) but a very useful feature.

While nothing groundbreaking, I liked what I saw, especially when it came to iOS ans macOS.
Still disappointed for the lack of new apple silicon announcements, though.

Most of what I saw is what makes Apple untouchable. What you find useless 100s of millions of Apple customers will love how their devices are designed to make their lives better in ways they never thought of.

I will add to your comment - Most of what makes Apple untouchable in the consumer world.

That's like 9 minutes you'll never get back. Let me sum it for yall... it was TRASH.

I’m using the Developer Beta for ipados now. Pretty disappointing multitasking update. The new dots at the top of the split screen don’t add much to my workflow, and the trackpad doesn’t seem well integrated with them. Oh well, maybe next year.

more like a .5 interim release than anything

Barely any actual OS updates and merely yearly updates to several apps, which let's be honest, should just be updateable via the Appstore like every third party app is.

Apple benefits from not releasing new computers until later. They get to see if anyone will buy the now unimpressive intel models. They get to not declare the chip shortage has hurt their ability to produce new products. They allow their competitors to release their models first. Nobody knows just how fast these things will be in real life and all the marketing material for PC's will be to beat the performance of an M1. Then the faster chips come out and make those new intel systems look weak in comparison. Apple is in no hurry to move to a new chip if they can milk the M1 for a longer time. And it will keep putting it in more and more expensive systems. The 14 inch MacBook Pro could have an M1 variant that just has more ram. They could put it in the retail models and charge a ridiculous amount to upgrade to a faster chip. They also have colorful MacBooks that will be no faster than the previous models, maybe they can come with the more ram variant too in order to have higher BTO prices. Maybe they will make the pros wait longer so they will be more willing to pay for the price hikes they will most likely end up getting.

One of the most boring WWDCs I’ve ever seen. My favorite is and will probably always be: <3

This has to be the most boring update to iOS since... well forever. Guess Apple gave everyone a lot of leave due to Covid over the past year, this is like iOS 14.7. If the Hardware updates are to follow in line with the software updates, Apple is in for a bit of hurt this year. I mean we get half ass work profiles that just don't let you see the apps you use often probably when working, you get on device Siri, seriously I thought that was already there.. Google has had this for years now.

I can't believe they spent 2 hours talking about this stuff. This is a module block on a website at best. I also can't believe they think people would be excited to hear this for 2 hours. Or that they spent months working toward this day.

Most of the features are already available on Android for years. It should not have been called iOS/iPadOS 15. Looks like a .1 upgrade. Nothing exciting except 2-3 things.

While not in the presentation, I like the Advanced Fraud Protection that is being added to Apple Card.

Advanced Fraud Protection

With Advanced Fraud Protection, Apple Card users can have a security code that changes regularly to make online Card Number transactions even more secure.

Improved card number discoverability

Now quickly view your card number by opening Apple Card in Wallet and tapping the card icon.

Padded out cringe fest! Felt more like a I’ll have a go staff party than a keynote! Don’t need 40 odd people explaining things with onscreen naff eyecandy to pad it all out.

think they spent more time introducing names of staff members than on actual product.
very disappointing…
What’s “naff”?

So if I use Siri now via voice, Apple won't record it and store it in their servers? How does that work? Doesn't my voice have to go to the Siri server to get a reply?

Is this working now or I have to upgrade to iOS 15?

think they spent more time introducing names of staff members than on actual product.
very disappointing…

It can't be just Steve Jobs on the stage, we have to display all our variety types of human beings to show how mutli-cultural and diverse we are.

“...and also Universal Control, which is witchcraft in my opinion..”

LMAO

Dan and MacRumors are the best. I haven’t watched a keynote in years. I love these summaries!

A great day for MR.

I've watched all Apple events since 2005, it's the first time I zapped & waited for summaries.

Who authorized this presentation, is this Apple in 2021, lost in their jungle... ?
