>>> You can set the app grid to be 4x5 or 6x5, which results in bigger or smaller icons

GRRRRRRR.. bring that to the FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLAR IPHONE, please.

dumb question, but how do I know which public beta version I'm on. I only installed the beta several days ago, so I'd assume I'm in public beta 3... but I'm software update it just says iPadOS 13.0....

OK, if that's a dumb question, here's a dumb answer: you can find the exact version of iOS in your iPhone settings. It's in there :)

Terrific there's new wallpaper and a larger LTE icon, but how about a real usability improvement, like allowing sharing an entire photos library between different appleIDs? We are forced to log into our i-devices with the same appleID to get around Apple's lack of user friendliness for this common problem among families.
Hmm so larger LTE icon and wallpaper is all that you got out of all the updates and changes available for iOS 13? Also you are aware there is a shared album feature that you can do precisely what you want and have yourself and your family members be participants of that particular album, yes?

34 seems like a strange increment for the volume...

100 / 32 = 3.125
100 / 33 = 3.03
100 / 34 = 2.94
100 / 35 = 2.86
100 / 36 = 2.78

One would think an even division would make more sense.

100 / 25 = 4.00

What is the increment in the current release? I count 16 increments. So maybe this is an effective doubling (32)?

Yes, 34 seems like a strange number of increments.

But the total number of increments is arbitrary and doesn't have to be a round number like 10 or 100.

Given the maximum volume, the total number of increments determines how finely the user can adjust the volume. The more total increments, the smaller the distance between adjacent increments hence the finer the control over the volume.

As you turn up the volume, you won't know the current increment number, whether the total is 34 or 100 or something else. And you probably don't care, you just want to get the volume to your preferred level, which you can tell by ear.

Maybe it might be useful to know your current level as a % of the maximum, but even then, having a nice round number of increments like 10 or 100 wouldn't be necessary.

Sorry, you probably knew some or all of this, I don't mean to condescend, I'm just killing time until the public beta drops.

Cheers!

iOS 13 has a lot of usability improvements. It might not have some of the ones you want, but it's not reasonable to expect that Apple can implement every improvement that every user wants.

You're not unreasonable to want things iOS doesn't have. You might give Android a look if you haven't already. I prefer iOS and Apple gear, but Android is very good and a better choice for many users.

Tap on the version. 17A5547d is developer beta 5 / public beta 4. 17A5534f was the one before.

I did. The smaller option makes the app icons smaller than what the standard size is on the iPhone (at least my XS). I think that is silly.

As much as I love the Apple Pencil, the main input device for the iPad is your finger. Bigger icons means more forgiveness picking apps.
No I mean, I also didn’t like the new smaller icons. But with this new setting, do we get to chose between the old “regular” size and smaller icons, or will they be either smaller, or bigger than before?

They removed the “FaceTime Attention Correction”!!!
Noooo, I so want this!

Did they fix the slow ass WiFi? IPP 11 PB3 I’m pulling 5mb on 2.4/5ghz 1gbit connection at home and around town. Lte speeds are bad too.

Maybe that’s because 34 is the denominator of Volume slider pixel length. Same goes for 1080P iPhone 6 Plus screen downsize.

I don’t even think Apple consider family “a family”, but still want people to buy multiple devices. No device sharing. No data sharing.

WiFi control center toggle may have changed back to old behavior? (Or maybe just a bug.). I toggled Wi-Fi off, and as I’ve gone to different places with wi-fi, it hasn’t turned back on. IOS 12 behavior would be that it turns off the Wi-Fi only in that location.

You can change icon size as you want. This is not a one way trip.

Not a dumb question at all! But I think if you just installed it, it should say in Profile section in Settings/General... sorry if this has been answered!

No. Control center icon disconnects all wifi for one day. That’s it. It’s not location-aware.

Yes it is.

Note that it only prevents connection “nearby networks.”

What about the Wi-Fi?
The iOS 11 Wi-Fi toggle works much the same. Toggle it off, and it now disconnects from any network you are connected to. The Wi-Fi icon will also dim. Auto-joining of networks also will be disabled. But it can switch itself back on again. Apple provides a list of triggers on its support page:

  • You turn on Wi-Fi in Control Center.
  • You connect to a Wi-Fi network in Settings > Wi-Fi.
  • You walk or drive to a new location.
  • It’s 5 AM local time.
  • You restart your device.

This has been a long time coming, but the home screen grid (number of icons per page) is good to see. particularly for those that need bigger icons, and don't have to resort to "part" of the screen magnified only when you hover over

The only negativity I hate about share sheet always is while its good Apple gives access, they then limit it to what you can share it with, or support.

eg text, but not images or attachments in Mail.

You can add Apple FINALLY fixing the CarPlay issue with artist/song/album title (or whatever was on the same line). See images attached, but it is now 3 lines and doesn't cut off anything (unless it is a really long title, usually something "feat. xxxx").

Gotta say, I’m really loving the new CarPlay in iOS 13. So many pet peeves have been fixed. This just makes it even better.
