Either my app developers are all really on-the-ball all of a sudden, or Apple have tweaked the legacy widget kit to make legacy widgets look like new ones.

How do I do I get rid of my original folders if the IOS will generate automatic folders? I don't want to have a duplicate folder to take up more memory use.

Only apps that are not on your home screen go into the automatic folders (the App Library). You can long press on an app on your home screen and choose "Remove App" then "Remove from Home Screen" to move it to the App Library.

Note that even if an app were displayed in your App Library as well as on the home screen that would not use up a significant amount more memory. That app itself wouldn't be duplicated - you'd just have two buttons for launching the same app.

My memoji with the mask now has darker hair on some of them. It looks like a glitch where it shows a shadow of a hat on the darker hair color.

Tweaked. Rounded corners and reduced in size. More wasted space! Phone screens get bigger, Apple reduced the amount of data one can see.

I am bit confused how the home control button in control center changed in Beta 2.

In Beta 1 I could access both of my accessories, 2 icons appeared next to each other.

Now, in Beta 2, there is only one huge button for 1 accessory. 🤔

I already didn't like the fat, balloon animal hands on the Apple Watch - now they're spreading to the iPhone?

Force Touch/Haptic Touch/Whatever they call it now isn't working properly. Any options apps had are not there. For example, I would always update apps by long pressing on App Store.app then clicking Updates. In beta 2, the only options are to Remove App or Edit Home Screen. Hope this is just a bug in the beta and not a permanent thing.

edit: really late editing this post, but the force touch options inexplicably started working again that evening.

“Calendar icon - There's a new Calendar app icon in iOS 14 beta 2, with the day of the week abbreviated rather than spelled out.”

Wow! That's incredible, Apple!

”Can't innovate any more, my **#%$!!”

It's a new update that has new additions, larger changes, smaller changes, random tweaks, and bug fixes. Nothing exactly new or surprising that some UX items would be part of that.

Control center already displays which apps use microphone or camera in Beta 1, surprised no one mentioned it already
This was brought up earlier in the thread:
This is not new in beta 2. It was in beta 1 as well.

I came here to post this. It's f*&%ing hideous in that screenshot. They had better revert... I'm not sure I can use reminders if it looks that bad.

Edit: more thoughts about this. The new icons are virtually indistinguishable at a glance. One of the great things about the current icons is that they are simple and graphic. You can identify what's what at a glance. These new ones are just a muddled mess at such a tiny size. Perhaps individually they *may* be nice icons but together it is an unpleasant agglomeration.

After a particularly harsh update, a client asked me why they move things around, and change menus. I thought about it for a few seconds, and said 'Because they can?'. It didn't make things easier...

Does anyone know if the Files widget can be customized to show a particular folder? That would be downright handy for many of my workflows.

How are you guys finding accessing your day to day apps such as banking apps (HSBC, Lloyds, Barclays Etc)? I'm very tempted to jump onto this when the PB is released but want to be abke to access apps. Slight glitches though don't concern me.

Another iOS update with at least half of the updates completely useless or just visual stuff.
Apple needs to:
1. redesign the notification center. It's ridiculous.
2. add haptic feedback to the keyboard, and make it possible to customize different intensities to your heart's content. It's crazy that you have no feedback whatsoever if you're typing and have the phone on mute. Those who are concerned with battery can just turn it off.
3. make it possible to adjust volume for independent apps and settings and not this general thing they're doing, forcing you to do it while the thing is being played, such as separate volume control for keyboard volume, music volume, ring volume, system volume.
4. add suggestions from the address book when you're dialing a phone number. Common now Apple.
5. make it possible to customize the texting app in every conceivable way. Font size, bubble size shape color.
6. make it possible to schedule a message to be sent at a certain time/date.
7. make it possible to move the icons anywhere you want to.
8. Use an OS-wide clipboard and make it not expire. You should be able to copy text now and paste it tomorrow if you want to.
9. Give us an option to NOT go to the next email but back to inbox after deleting an email.

But at least they made the clock icon arms thicker.

Folks, me and wife got the same phone at the same Apple Store and we are having very different experiences on iOS14 beta. First, her device would shout down randomly. After restoring a back up and deleting 68GB out of WhatsApp Messages, the restarting disappeared, but... now the camera take the photo but... won’t save in the camera roll. Is there anything I’m not perceiving to restore the camera behavior?

I’m pretty sure there are more than 18 feature updates in iOS 14. Some of which some people might find extremely useful.

You can try rebooting your phone. If that doesn’t solve the problem, try seeing up as new on iOS 14. If that doesn’t solve the problem, report such to Apple. Things like that are going to happen with beta sometimes.
