So I updated to beta 5 earlier, was late fir an appointment and the highway was wide open so I set my cruise control to 95mph. Never saw any law enforcement and I just made it to the office on time, however, when I turned in the parking lot I saw a swat vehicle and many cops as if they were waiting for something, turns out they were waiting for me! The captain said as he was booking me that in beta 5 Apple turned on reckless driver alerts for law enforcement. Apparently it uses your GPS to determine speed and maps to determine your destination and automatically sends a emergency alert to the closest law enforcement station that there’s a speeding driver and what their destination is along with their name and vehicle info.
It’s about time Apple did something about reckless driving, I sure learned my lesson! And don’t worry, as long as you don’t speed you’ve got nothing to worry about! You’ve been warned!
at least it didn’t call 911 in your pocket like previous updates lol

Lossless audio and Dolby Atmos are now restored on HomePods, after being pulled for the second beta.

Can be activated by going to Home Settings in the HomeKit App, selecting primary user (owner), scrolling down to Apple Music (under media section) and toggling both features on.
Alas does not appear to be working even with the latest beta for HomePod. Maybe once beta 5 is released?

Has anyone else had the same issue with maps in CarPlay. Since the first beta some roads in maps (non main roads) have faded so much they can’t be seen. One pic is the screenshot the other is a photo of the screen. There’s no way to alter my cars screen to fix it. But it wasn’t a problem in iOS 14. And I don’t have another CarPlay car to try it out in.
i did a report a couple betas ago but no change.

You should probably read the thread before commenting. If your phone is unlocked, then no it doesn’t ask for it. But if your phone is locked like 99.9% are when stolen, it does ask for it. Hand your locked phone to a friend and ask them to turn it off and disable find my iPhone. They can’t. You can also hold your phone at a weird angle where Face ID won’t pickup and try it yourself.
Still doesn't address being able to turn off the phone with the phone locked. Even with the phone locked you can enable airplane mode which will disable Find my. PS good job sounding like a jerk!

When has apple ever let you turn it off without a password? This is no different.

Everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusion

You can turn the phone off while the phone is locked, You can also enable airplane mode and disable wifi with the phone locked. All of which will disable the find my feature leaving you unable to track the phone. Since it's clear by now that the iOS 15 update is mostly just fluff, this is what Apple needs to do:

1. redesign the notification center. It's ridiculous.
On top of that definitely make the "Clear all" button come on immediately when you get even just a single notification. Mine only comes on after a long while and I'm having to constantly swipe to the left and clear each notification by it self. I've had three emails and two texts plus news, and no "Clear All" in sight then I have to exit out of these manually or go into each app and do it that way.

2. give us an LED visual for notifications in addition to sound and vibration. Allow us the change the colors of the LED based on what the notification app is.
The fine folks who like things the way they are can just turn any or all of this off and be constantly hitting the screen on their phones to see if there are any messages when the phone is on mute, much like we all have to do all day long the way it current is.

3. give us an always-on screen for the clock. On the always-on screen we should also be able to choose if we want to see if we have any notifications (the amount and the app) or if we to just want see the clock.
Once again, the people who don't like it should be able to turn it off. No more Apple forcing us to do stuff.

4. add haptic feedback to the keyboard, and make it possible to customize different intensities to your heart's content.
It's beyond crazy that you have no feedback whatsoever if you're typing and the phone is on mute. Those who are concerned with battery or simply don't like this should be able to turn it off.

5. make it possible to adjust volume for independent apps and settings and not this general thing they're doing. Separate volume control for keyboard volume, music volume, ring volume, system volume.
I, for example, would like the keyboard clicks to be much louder than they are but without it affecting the volume on the entire phone or the ring and notifications volume. It's silly of Apple to force it to be like this.

6. add suggestions from the address book as you start a phone number.
Common now Apple, this has been available for the last 15 years on Android.

7. make it possible to customize the texting app in every conceivable way. Font size, bubble size shape color etc.

8. make it possible to schedule a text message to be sent at a certain time/date. This is a basic feature. Compose your message now and schedule it to be sent when the time is right. I used to use this feature all the time when I had to text people who are in different time zones when they have to get the text at a certain time in their time zone but it's way too late for me to stay up to send the text.

9. use an OS-wide clipboard and make cut and/or copy not expire until you, the user, cleans it.
You should be able to copy text now and paste it tomorrow if you want to.
And 9b make it possible to copy multiple copy entries ready to paste any one of them by long pressing, at least the last 10 cut/copies should be possible.

10. in Mail give us the option to NOT go to the next email when you are deleting an email but to go back to the inbox. Those who want to keep things the way it is should be able to turn this feature off.

11. make it possible to move the icons on the desktop anywhere you want to.

At this point this list is at least 5-7 years old.
Apple says they listen to their customers...yeah!

I could not take a screenshot but noticed that when the battery is dead/flat, the screen shows the normal dead battery/charging icon, but there's now a notice at the bottom of the screen that says something like "business card and express keys still available". i had never seen that before.

Hahaha yeah they totally colored the weather app to distract from the iCloud photo scanning. Busted Apple nice try
Also notice the scanning was listed as a new feature along with the rest of the new features and changes . . .

Or just buy an Android if you prefer those functionalities you described:)

Very suspicious. It would be more transparent if they announced and rolled out each feature individually like they weren't trying to hide something

I accidentally swiped up from the bottom right of the screen and a quick note app appeared. I’ve not seen this mentioned anywhere before. Though, you lot will have. View attachment 1817006
Apple is perfecting the art of hidden interface elements as pioneered by the esteemed leader in the category, Snapchat. People love hidden interface elements because it's a special surprise when you trigger them by mistake when there is absolutely no indication of an interface control. This functionality will be complete in my view when the hidden interface elements can only be triggered conditionally and have variable functionality chosen for you by an incredibly intelligent and capable virtual assistant such as Siri

They've fallen so so far from the days when their HIG were basically best in class

I don't know if it's lack of leadership, wrong leadership.....just hiring the wrong people...emphasizing the wrong values?

Something went way off course

On the contrary, I think that Apple's HIG adherence does an incredible job of mirroring the current state of the world. While I'm on the subject, who is responsible for the modern masterpiece that is unmarked/hidden interface elements?

Been a dream for find my to work with airplane mode / toggled cellular / powered off phone.

Was looking forward to the security of “find my” even when the phone was turned off… too bad someone can just select to disable when turning off the phone… maybe one day.
I hope disabling Find My will require an unlocked phone (unlock then turn off the phone to get the choice). Else, indeed, it's useless if the phone is stolen or found by a "not-so-honest-person"… 😞

EDIT: OK, it looks like the password is required to disable it, so it's just fine. I guess I should trust Apple more on this kind of things, but sometimes they seems to overlook some pretty obvious things, so… 😳 Anyway! Good! 😊
