Prolly old news, but I noticedthat Best Buy is out of stock of their MBPs online. They only have 17" left.

Hmmm... you'd think Apple and/or Best Buy would be able to predict fairly accurately the demand by now... unless they purposely want to get rid off excess inventory.

which they do...

yah I asked Steve Jobs when the Macbook Pro will release, he says in April. ROFL

Got any screen shots of the e-mail?.. Either Steve is lying and we will all be really happy and surprised when it comes out in the next few weeks. OR.. it really sucks that we have to wait another two months.. Hmm.. I wonder if that is actually Steve who responds to the emails.. Either or, I reckon they are just toying with us.

April 1, right?

I can get why everyone here is so expectant, but we sure aren't owed a new machine... well, ever.

If I didn't have the hangup that I'm paying full whack for old, old stuff, I'm sure I'd be blown away by the current models - so I'm waiting, but I'm not holding my breath.

For all we know, that 2.6GHz, 250GB "option" in Nov is supposed to tide us over until Montevina...?!

Should I buy?

I just found a person selling a 17" MBP for $2200, I'm sure I can talk him down to at most $2k. All I really use it for is school and I'm sick of waiting around. My 15" MBP was stolen a week ago today so I'm anxious to get another one. Worth it or no?

deffinately next tuesday, my next door neighbour's, hairdresser's best friend's cousin's gardner said it was next tuesday....

oh yes next tues.. lol

I saw red parrot in a cage this morning. It was sitting on it's perch saying:

"New mac next tuesday, new mac next tuesday."

"How old is your parrot?" I said to its owner.

"Oh about fifteen years" he said.

"Been talking long?" I said.

"About fifteen years" he said.

I love these posts. It's what keeps me sane.

did anyone notice the apple store down today?? there is new stuff on the main page. also, in the store, MBA ships times have gone down to 7-10 business days and they added Aperture 2 to the "New to the Store" list. It wasn't on there right after release. Just curious if anyone noticed anything.

And what operating system would you be getting on this xps of which you speak? There's your justification for spending the extra money on a Mac. I'd MUCH rather pay the premium on an Apple computer then not have to muck around with getting Vista to run semi-decently without all the extra crap they load with it. And trust me, having had to set up two VAIOs (both running Vista) for my sisters and nearly smashing them both to bits because of it, I'm good and ready to switch to a Mac.

yea i saw that, but just wondering if anyone had any more thoughts on whether or not that was really for the new MBP

Yes, I think that was the only real proof we've had. I emailed the owner of the site, and he said there have not been any more appearances of the MacBookPro4,1. He also said the site would be back up on March 1.

reformat and install XP, or maybe go with ubuntu or something like that. Also, Vista isn't really that awful of an operating system. I'm hesisitant to bash it, especially with a service pack that is coming out for it soon in March. XP was horrible until SP1, but after that it was (and is still) an excellent operating system

This is why you always do a clean install of the OS that's included on OEM builds.

You both make good points, but seeing as neither are actually my own machine and I probably don't have the tech savvy to install Ubuntu, I couldn't be bothered to do that. Also, from my (limited) experience with Macs, it's a lot easier to reinstall the OS if something becomes corrupt.

But the main reason I'm switching to a Mac is because of the Adobe Creative Suite programs I use. Heck, even a G4 could run CS better than my PC. And it's only 2 years old.

I'll agree XP is a solid OS, and I'm sure Vista will become more so with later revisions, but I'd rather have OSX running on a Mac. Just more reliable and generally better for a creative professional in my experience is all.

Quick question

Anyone knows if the new upgrades for the MBP will make mine significantley diferent i bought mine last week.
MBP 2.2Ghz

 I prefer Linux. Much better interface and workflow.

Did anyone notice that this article seems to have disappeared from the MacRumors site this morning:

MacBook Pro Updates... This Tuesday?

https://www.macrumors.com/2008/02/24/macbook-pro-updates-this-tuesday/

I didn't get to read it but I guess its disappearance means it was either too accurate or too unreliable. If too unreliable it would have gone to page 2, so here's hoping.

This is what arn posted in the comments right after he pulled the story:

editor note: I've removed the story off the front page for now as some conflicting information has arisen. I still believe the MBP's are coming on Tuesday, but I need to reconcile some information, and have pulled the story temporarily because of it.
