Ok. It's mid to late June. Anyone receive any shipping notifications for pre orders? I'm pretty anxious.

Yesterday I talked to the support and they told me that my order won't be shipped before the end of next week. I pre-ordered the 6s black leather finished version on June 6th, shipping to Germany.

Now I'm tempted to try this case. Disappointing that the carbon fiber one is slick though. My Evutec has the carbon fiber look along with the grippiness. I think I'll wait for the iPhone 7 before I try this though

If you already have the Evutec, I see no reason to change.

Final impressions will have to wait until I have held one in hand, but the SS pictures on the Chinese Engadget site were disappointing to me. There's a visible seam, if not some flashing, between the back "weave" portion and the front lip portion of the case.

On the Evutec, the transition is less noticeable, and the surface is completely smooth with a better finish.

The Evutec has better build quality, albeit at a higher price.

Now shipping early July. :-(

Edit: I realized that is if you order today. If you have already ordered they should stick to the original date that they quoted.

The company did release another "update" but there honestly doesn't seem to be much more to be said. If anyone views the comments on their Kickstarter page over the last week and a half or so, that says it all and proves absolutely everything I've already expressed. At this rate, I'm hoping to see the rewards I funded at all.

Are you talking about the Lifetime Discount Code for Backers? Or did I miss something on their Kickstarter page?

That was, as they are calling it, one of two good news (their words). There was that, which was really just an announcement to keep an eye out for a separate update within two weeks (this does not constitute as an actual update, but I digress). The second was to say that they have restarted shipping this week for those of us who are still waiting for what we paid for two months ago. The final sentence of that clause states: "Barring another last minute issue, all of the rewards should be fulfilled by the end of next week."

As with all of their post campaign statements, this is widely open to interpretation. I have tried to get concrete answers from them but it has been made abundantly clear that they veil their replies in a generic shade of gray. All that can be done now is what has been done all along. More waiting.

Did those that have this case, is it bulkier than the Apple leather cases?

I'm looking for a leather type case that has less bulk than the official ones but still have good coverage.

I find it about the same from my vague memory of owning the Apple leather one. I do own a Apple Silicon one but because of the bottom is exposed, the tempered glass tend to chip/crack from that area. Generally very tight and slim fitting.

Last Friday I emailed customer service. They said they hope to ship the pre order cases in 3 weeks. I'm going to cancel. There's no point in getting a case and then not being able to use it in two months when the 7 comes out.

Whaaaaaaaatttt? They seriously said that? I cannot believe that they are validating all of the poor remarks that people have been speaking of their brand by deliberately remaining so immovable. This would be asinine if what they told you comes to be.

Shame on them, regardless, for everything they've put their backers through up until now and even beyond. I can honestly say that I will be walking away from this with a lesson learned...

I ordered on June 2nd and it might not get here until August. Hopefully they let me cancel.

I'm fairly certain they have to, otherwise they could face a legal issue. Failing to render goods following payment seems to be a colossal hamster wheel the company has created.

I completely understand your perspective. I backed them on day 1 of their campaign and was promptly charged upon the close of said campaign. To this day - nothing. I wish you luck and hope that they quickly provide you with a resolution.

Thanks. They have cancelled my order and issued a refund. Sad because the Product has so much promise. Maybe they will do better for the 7 but I'm not counting on it.

I wonder about established companies that use KS or other campaigns to launch new products, more so when they're just variants of existing ones, and not new or novel concepts that might entail more risk.

Anyway, for anyone who was interested in the "carbon fiber" look version and doesn't want to wait for delivery, Evutec has dropped the price of their Karbon SI series to $40, same as the SolidSuit. Very similar and a worthy alternative.

Those who ordered should have received a long explanation email this morning. This helps but obviously it's not ideal. I hope they get it together for the 7.

What was the email? I received mine and sold it. Not as good as people claim imo

Dear Backers and Customers,

First of all, I wish to apologize to all of you who have yet to receive your rewards / pre-orders. As we said we would do in our last update, we have started shipping again. Unfortunately, there are still some issues with the production of the leather SolidSuits (HoneyComb and Carbon Fiber are mostly fine).

What is happening?

I want to tell you a bit more about why this is happening. Simply put, the manufacturing techniques we are employing are new and difficult to implement. The factories are having a hard time reaching a satisfactory yield rate. Not only does this significantly increase the cost of the SolidSuit, it also lowers the amount of SolidSuits we can ship every week.

Most of the truly protective cases on the market use a two-piece construction, and require you to install them one piece at a time. This is the simplest design to make, but it has two inherent disadvantages: it adds thickness, and is less comfortable to hold. Creating a one-piece construction was a huge challenge but much more rewarding. For this reason, we came up with innovative production methods to make SolidSuit a reality.

The Carbon Fiber and HoneyComb are also delayed because they share part of the manufacturing process. However, we can produce them in a considerably larger quantity and they should be shipped faster.

Why weren’t we ready?

The original samples were of very high quality. The first batch of a few hundred cases were also top quality (be sure to contact us if you have any issue). This made us very confident for the launch of our KickStarter campaign. Unfortunately, when we switched to mass production, problems started appearing.

While we are able to solve most of the issues we meet, this greatly slows down the process. The making of a SolidSuit Leather Case requires more than 10 factories working together. A simple issue requires coordinated adjustments in multiple locations.

Most of our problems come from our shock absorbent formula that is difficult to manipulate. Despite its success with the CrashGuard, it does not play well with the SolidSuit's leather finish. The problem lies around the fit, not the adhesion of the layers. The pieces need to fit each other perfectly for everything to look perfect.

What now?

Our goal with this project was to give birth to the best case ever created for the iPhone. Some of you will agree that we did, but we find ourselves unable to produce it in great quantity (yet).

Because of the uncertainty, for the time being, we do not wish to provide a concrete shipping date. We are receiving a few cases every week, but not enough to send all the remaining rewards and pre-orders yet. That being said, we are still hoping to ship everything this summer, July for KickStarter rewards.

For those that have not yet received your SolidSuit(s) we are offering you two choices:

  1. If you are not willing to wait, just say the word and we will refund you as soon as we can. We hope you will still want to protect your phone with our cases in the future. As an apology for the wait, we will still provide you with the lifetime discount code we promised. You will be able to use it on www.evolutivelabs.com and www.rhinoshield.fr for 25% off.

  1. If you are willing to wait, you can be sure that we will not forget your support. We will not only ship the original SolidSuit as soon as we can, but we will also ship you the second version of SolidSuit (see below) when it becomes available in the fall. The item itself will be free of charge. You will only have to cover the shipping fee.

If you choose the first option, please reply to this email and we will proceed with the refund.

I know this is probably not what you were expecting. We had hoped to have shipped all of the rewards by now. Unfortunately, these 2 solutions are the best we can offer you right now. We really hope that you will not lose faith in our products, and give us the chance to make things right.

The future of SolidSuit

After we finish shipping all the backers rewards and website pre-orders, we will weigh the possibility of changing the design of the SolidSuit to make it mass production-friendly. We hope to be able to reveal more about this by the end of the summer.

Final words

Evolutive Labs, down to our company name, has always been about innovation. We would be nothing without our Kickstarter backers and pre-ordering customers. We cannot thank you enough for your faith in our company.

Rest assured we are still on our quest for the perfect case for your phone. We have never been so close to reaching our goal, and we will continue our efforts.

Please be sure to write to support@evolutivelabs.com to let us know if you wish to stop the adventure today and receive a refund. We understand that the kind of delays we are experiencing are unacceptable for some of you, and we wish to sincerely apologize.

If you have any questions or additional remarks, please be sure to write to us as well.
