Can you purchase the ADC membership and mac at the same time or do you first have to purchase the ADC membership, then shop at the ADC shop? Thank you all very much for all the assistance. :D

ADC first. Get verified and what not, then shop.

You have to purchase the ADC membership online first. Once you fax proof of student status to them, they'll verify you, usually within 24-48 hours. When that happens, the Student ADC membership will appear in the Assets section of your ADC account. At that point you'll be able to purchase from the online ADC store.

thank for the quick response guys! just one last question for those who have ADC status, can someone tell me what the savings are for the 30'' ACD? thanks again! :D

Anyone can access the US store through this page. But if you don't feel like looking for yourself, the 30" display is $1619.

You will have to do you own cost/benefit analysis. I don't want an iPod right now so I can't really help you much. This thread also includes details on MBP pricing. Which is also available for you to view online. You have to do some work yourself you know?

If your iPods are working correctly, it would seem to be a non-mute issue.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

huh?

If I didn't word it correctly then I wanted to say that the iPod deal was not a deal breaker for me because I do not need it/want it. For me it was better to save the money.

You are using the wrong word. You said mute, which means absence of sound.

You should have used moot, which is having no practical significance or not a deal breaker.

If you have two working iPods, it would be a NON-mute issue because you iPods are producing sound. Get it? :D

don't know if this has been said but the ADC student discount is a ONE TIME thing. you cannot buy another ADC student membership next year and get the discount for another purchase. I don't know if they keep track, but that is how it is supposed to work. in general the adc student discount is worth it if you are getting the high-end/pro machines. regular student discount is just as good for lowerend stuff like imac/ibook/macbook.

help needed!

hi fellas,

new to this forum here

I'm from Singapore, its a little sunny island in South east Asia.

I'm thinking of signing up for the ADC student membership to get a discount off the new SR MBP, 2 questions though...

1) It states on the User License and Agreement that you can only use the ADC discounted hardware for development of products. Can we still use them for our own personal stuff? (like surfing the web, gaming watcing movies, listening to itunes) will they know that we aren't really only using it for development? (though I'm sure some peeps don't even use it for development at all, and simply wanna earn the discount) Does Apple have any way of keeping track if you're only using it for development purposes?

2) Are the hardware purchased from the ADC store any different than those in the normal store? Is the ADC hardware brand new or refurished? Inferior or superior?

Okay last question... i know i said 2. :)

3) Is it really really definite that as a ADC student member, we WILL get the full retail version of Leopard when it comes out? I mean when my membership is approved, they'll ship a Tiger CD/DVD to me. Will they ship the Leopard when it is released?

Cheers from Singapore!

Same product as if you buy from regular store.

You can use the computer for whatever the hell you want.

90%+ chance that you will get leopard included.

cheers

OMG i just added the MBP to my cart using the ADC Store

it seems the next page they bring me to is the back to sch promo. It looks like I can even get a rebated nano in addition to the ADC discount!!!

Can anyone verify this?

well if you can please let me know cause I will jump down someones throat for not letting me after I tried.

Nick2U, are you sure about that? Because I went to my campus apple certified store and asked about it and he specifically said "The ipod promotion CANNOT be combined with ADC purchases".

I also just tried the ADC canadian store and the ipod promo doesn't show up, even though it does show up on the canadian education store.

i can't say whether it's true or not but

i swear when i add a MBP using the ADC store, after selecting and configuring my MBP options it takes me to the BTS promo page...

When does the ADC membership expire?

Are the upgrade benefits only good for the calendar year in which you bought the membership or is it a specific timeframe from the date of purchase?

Boooyah!!! Just paid $80 for a $100 Apple Gift Card.

That means I pay..... $86 for my ADC membership not bad!!! :D :apple:
