stop thinking what apple tells you to, on other computers you can install whatever operating system you want and whatever software you want as well as customize it to whatever you want.

FFS even my HTC Touch pro phone can dual boot operating systems (windows mobile 6.5 and Android 1.6)

Sw is not a big deal at all but the HW cannot just be reinstalled, what you buy is what you get with the ipad, you cant upgrade anything on it.

Will be awesome? they already are, ppl are just too dumb to look outside of apple's mind control field.

you are kidding aren't you? Dual boot? Can you imagine a 20 something girl wanting a dual boot machine?? Omg I've heard it all now.

Let me check mail - hang on let's wait for the 2 minute boot cycle, then I have to remember which OS I use and then remember the different interfaces to select the mail program & hope that my mail file is on both systems. That is just plain stupid.

I prefer to wake up my always on iPad select mail and get what I want in 10 seconds not 10 minutes.

I'd read an article today that the negative news on iPad from the geek world is fear. It's the first time nerds are realising they will become obsolete. No longer will people need help with computers. No longer will geeks attempt to gain a higher ground by knowing something normal people don't. iPad is not the death of conputing but the death of the geek. Finally a machine that everyone can use.

Cheers. Good comments.

iPad will drive Developer revenue like never before

2 million app downloads at a premium, $10 price (most iPhone devs only dream of this). 60 million videos streamed to iPhones/iPods. MLB has made a **** load of money off of MLB at bat. It has increased their paid subscriptions (which cost ~$100) enormously (50% just at the beginning of the 2009 season, I'm sure it's much more than that by now). How can you say it's irrelevant for the majority of the world. MLB is one of the companies that has fully embraced technology and is using it properly to make their product second to none. Imagine what could be done with the NFL, the Olympics, On Demand TV, Medicine, etc, etc, etc.

Once again, some people are just stuck in their unimaginative ways...

I think you hit on a very important point here for the iPad. Going back for a minute, when the app store first opened, and I saw my wife (a pure technophobe) downloading apps like crazy, it hit me that the iphone was a revenue generating machine like no other.

Flash forward to the iPad. It is my contention that app developers will modify their apps with relatively marginal greater effort than they already have put into it, and be able to charge multiples in price over the iPhone apps. I don't know what the average iPhone app costs, but it's probably $1.99 or so. The iPhone app culture won't tolerate expensive apps yet. However, the iPad is a new opportunity, with more full featured apps, to charge probably $4.99 to $19.99 per app, and not have people blink. I think iPad users will compare the cost more to desktop packages than to iPhone apps if done properly.

This will be a 2.5x to 10x multiplier on developer's revenue! This will drive development like never before. And don't forget what what's-his-name said at the big unveiling: The iPad apps will be featured front and center on iTunes. Premium shelf space. Hmmm... I wonder why? 5x revenue maybe?
