Agreed. Why such a blatant ad on first page? At least put it where ads belong...not as a full-blown article.

It's as much an "ad" as this Steam preview was: https://www.macrumors.com/2010/05/0...for-mac-including-portal-and-team-fortress-2/
which is to say, not at all. :)

We preview some Mac and iOS software from time to time. They aren't paid ads. They all can't be "Steam for Mac" caliber announcements, but it's relevant Mac content that is exclusive to this site, and from a long term Mac developer. If you'd rather, we could always post another Verizon iPhone rumor. :)

I don't like this application at all... so I'll vote with my wallet and not purchase it. I have no problem with the concept behind it. It's just... completely useless to me, as I don't use the services it works with.

The Mac Community seems so darn fickle to me and so I'm starting to see why so many companies just don't bother. I mean they whine and cry that so many companies ignore the Mac and don't make software for it and then when they DO make software for it, they whine and cry that they don't care about it and vote negative for new Mac software when they could just simply ignore software they don't personally care about. Personally, I would welcome commercial software for the Mac regardless of whether I personally need it or not. I don't really need Microsoft Office, for example, but I'm glad it's available for the Mac because that means more Mac users and therefore more Mac software in general.

Somehow, I think if Apple made this software and included as part of the Snow Leopard upgrade, people would be voting positive and raving how great the Mac is and how easy it is to do things like send photos to multiple locations with a single right click and how crappy Windows is. But since it's not by Apple, it automatically sucks. When do I get those upgrades to FCP for multi-core support and a modern engine for Logic? Apple software support is SO much better, after all. OpenGL version 2.x when 4.0 is out. No graphic updates for regular Leopard (so no improvement for gaming on it), etc. etc. But iPhone V5.0 will be out in less than a year! Hooray! Buy another one baby!

The app has been a mystery until today. For those following the story this is "breaking news" but I guess there haven't been all that many people following it. I was personally hoping for a sexier mail client. Realmac has a history of making really excellent software for OSX. Be thankful our platform can sustain companies like this who are creating new, beautiful and innovative products.

I understand running MR takes time and dedication, but these types of shameless plugs will eventually erode you dedicated visitors; regardless of the possible short-term pay-offs.

I'm actually quite surprised to see MR push this on people. Since scrolling down past the long plug exasperated an old tennis injury, I think I need to seek legal counsel...

Does anybody really care about a file sharing utility. I mean honestly...

Oh wow, you got to preview it one day before it goes public — big friggin' deal. It smells like MacRumors got suckered into featuring it on their home page. I think the Steam preview is different, in that they didn't offer a Mac version before (am i right here?), whereas Realmac already has Mac products in their lineup. There is a difference here, folks.

I am grateful for companies that make great Mac apps. I just can't embrace anything that supports the social networking disease.

Wow. The drama doesn't know any limit. It's the first time they are doing it and at least it's not tottally unrelated. I think people is overreacting satanazing MR for this

Guys, scroll past if you're not interested. Does it really inconvenience you that much?

No, it is indicative of MacRumors becoming useless. Spam and ads posted as real news (as if there weren't enough ads AROUND the "news") makes you vote with your mouse... and start visiting other sites what know what news is.

Disagree. BIG difference in the two. Steam which was well established on the PC was moving over games to the Mac, something severely lacking on the platform. This product is of limited use, something other programs do already, and does it in a bland manner. Just an ad. I will give you benefit of the doubt- maybe you did not get cash to puyt it on page one. But it surely doesn't belong there either....

I wish Realmac would spend some time on the only useful app they make - rapidweaver - and leave all this overpriced social networking stuff alone.

Social networking disease? Granted, it's not all peaches and cream, but it's been a revolution in almost every possible level of our generation. It's only normal there are app's out that allow us to manage them.

As someone above said, just because a particular person don't find it useful doesn't mean it's not for a couple of thousands

I'm not a huge fan of the social networking stuff myself. But I'll be downloading the trial tomorrow, just to check out some of the really neat things they've done with the UI. As an aspiring OSX developer, a beautiful and well-crafted user interface is like crack to a junkie.

As a mac owner, it is of interest to me, and I appreciate sharing the information.

I don't get people on this site... but I guess that explains why I have 200 people on ignore, and still get banned every 3 weeks.

Well Arn, you'll forgive me but Steam's announcement was worth mentioning on a first page...not a shareware aggregator that doesn't seem more innovative than, say, 1Password... ;)

But I will agree that irrelevant rumors about iPhone on Verizon (something that concerns only the US market and no one else) are the last thing I wanna read on MR...

Geezus! Some people have to take a pill around here. I suggest the blue one.

1. It's a new piece of software to be released, MR scoop.
2. It's MAC SOFTWARE.
3. It's perfectly qualified as Page One news.
4. And last but not least.... BIG FREAKING DEAL IF IT"S NOT! Seriously, are we that anal about what's news and what's MR's choices in supporting selected developers?

As far as the software goes, I'm looking forward to giving it a demo, it sounds interesting.

1Password is great!

I hear you on that one ... however there are useful networking systems for 'real' friends and family such as Mobile Me it might be very useful for.

p.s. A report on CNN today was pointing out the very high level of narcissists that use FaceBook a lot.

I think americans tend be oversensitive with the ADs topic, in general. For example, the thing with in-game ads.
Not that i enjoy them or support them anyway, but in latinamerica we don't really pay them much attention. But in U.S.A. if a game has like ONE freaking ad in a street where the character passes by: D-R-A-M-A.
Guess capitalism ends tiring you out, :S

That's ki d of the point. A, if apple made this it would be more relevant to the website. B, it would not be a stand alone app for $20, it would be a feature of an upgrade. C, people would be excited about this if it were Apple because it would show that theyareembracing the web more into their core, swell as using strategic partnerships mired effectively.

If apple released this app, for $20, there would most definitely not be a large group of people preaching about its innovativeness. In fact there would probably be articles on CNN & Reuters asking if Apple has lost it's touch.

All those sites are cross compatible, flickr and youtube both connect with facebook, so whats the point?
