My main reasons before the event were wireless reverse charging, 6gb ram, Apple Pencil support and night mode. After the event, night mode and improved battery life so it’s kinda hard to justify the purchase but my wife wants to replace her 6plus so I might just do it for her :)

I really want to see the iFixit teardown now that there are rumors that the bilateral charging hardware is in these phones. Not that I have any expectation that Apple will make it active with a later iOS update...but it would be an interesting window on the design/development process and might explain the apparently huge increase in battery capacity.

Yeah that’s true! I totally forgot that.

A is TBD. Hopefully that's the case. I swore I wouldn't preorder another phone after the xs max so I am trusting apple with my preorder lol.

The 11? No one reputable has suggested that it has a Qualcomm modem. They recently settled their litigation - next year is the year.

I’m not buying another iPhone until it has a Qualcomm modem. My XS should be an amazing phone but it is let down by its garbage wireless connectivity.

Going from XS Max to 11 Pro max. I like to have the latest and greatest, cost is t an issue especially considering $600 trade in value. Have had every iPhone since 3G. Never had any connectivity issues with my XS Max.

I know that, the reception issues were antenna design most have come to the conclusion of.

I actually wasn’t going to upgrade but reading this thread has me reconsidering lol. Wife and I are both on iUP but I was just going to keep the XS Maxs we have and sell then next year. Starting to think that doesn’t make sense though.

If I do upgrade it will be because of the camera. We do a lot of stuff outside in the evenings, and I find most of the time I don’t bother even trying to take pictures of us or our daughter because I know they will suck. Looking back at last Halloween with my Max and the pictures are just crap. If the night mode really works well that could change that entirely and I could actually capture more moments.

Better battery life...hopefully easier to use FaceID (use on desk)...better camera...but mostly because all it "costs" me is sales tax, since I bought the XS Max in the IUP.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much will you be paying?

Because I have money burning a hole in my pocket ;)

My XS Max was "purchased" (rented, really?) on the IUP, and there was no price change year over year, so the out of pocket cost is just the sales tax. And the new case, I guess, reckoning all related costs. The other cost is that I've extended my iPhone loan by another 12 months ($550 plus whatever half the cost of AC+).

I trade in every year because Apple keeps discontinuing the previous phone so even if I pay it off in two years there’s little to no value for it anyways.

...aside from that all the spec stuff everyone else said.

I’ve been so happy with my XS Max that I thought I wouldn’t upgrade, either, but I’m on the IUP so the trade-in value of $600 makes it worth getting the latest phone. If I wait to upgrade, my XS Max will lose value, plus I’ll be paying more to keep it. So long as I get back 50% of the cost of the phone (whether through Apple or other trade-in website), then the upgrade makes sense. Plus I was blown away by the 5 extra hours of battery life! That is just WOW!!

Haven’t fully decided yet if I’m gonna upgrade from my XS Max to the 11 Pro Max. Saying that, the reasons for upgrading are pretty much as everyone else has said: Significantly improved battery life, much better OLED display, improved speakers, improved FaceID, and ofc the new and better cameras equipped with night mode. Better performance is nice but really it’ll hardly be noticeable as the A12 is plenty fast.

If I go ahead with upgrading, I plan on waiting for a price drop from amazon first as I got my 64GB XS Max for £999 in November last year and ideally don’t want to spend much more than that for the 64GB 11 Pro Max. Then combined with trade in (£550-£600) I should only have to fork out around £400-£500.

- I like the latest tech, nothing better than unboxing the newest tech.

- Great trade in price locked in for my XS Max @£700

- Screen, Battery and Camera(s).

  • Night Shot mode
  • Ability to shoot video with multiple camera lenses at once
  • Ability to quickly switch between photo and video recording with the slide of a button

What actual reason can these features not be included through a software update on previous iPhones?

I’ve been an iPhone user since the 3G, albeit one or two versions. I love upgrading because the incremental upgrades always seem compelling (except the 8 series), but that’s my opinion.

I’ve had my XS Max since November of last year, and while it’s great, I like the new camera and faster processors, also the improved battery life is a must, since I use my phone for work a lot.

I said many times before, in several forums, I wasn't upgrading and I'm not. I want an XS, and I'm currently keeping my XS Max, but Apple isn't offering the left over XS for sale brand new. I am not purchasing 3rd. party in fear of getting scammed, so I am thinking about getting an 11 Pro. Besides, it's FREE for me. My company drops about $100/month into a debit card (which all employees receive) as a "thank you" which totals approx. $1200 at the end of the year. Some use this money for fancy lunches and Starbucks. I save mine for Apple. I may use that money to get the 11 Pro or let it add up next year and get the 12. I really wanted to use my $1200 this year towards the new MBP I'm hearing about at the end of the year and add $ to it..

If you are a photographer you know how bad the flare is on the XS Max lenses. I'm hoping the new lenses are better. The ultra-wide lens is useful, but i would have preferred a 100mm equivalent. It might be a mistake to upgrade just for the camera, but have to buy it to find out. The XS Max is new enough those wanting to sell it should get a good price if they have kept it in good shape.

For me it's the ultrawide lens, promise of better battery life and night mode on the camera which made me pre-order a green iPhone 11 Pro Max 512 GB. I'm on a yearly trade-in program with my carrier so I'll be returning my iPhone XS Max 512 GB in exchange for the iPhone 11 Pro Max.

I'm especially excited about the camera improvements as I've wanted an ultrawide lens for a while after trying it out on my brother in law's Huawei Mate 20 Pro and my mothers Samsung S10e.
