Because I’m not right mentally, and I’m being serious. I love Apple and I love my Iphone XS Max. Is Apple perfect? Is the 11 pro a gigantic leap forward? No. I told myself this will finally be the first generation that I do not upgrade, even though I’m on the Verizon iPhone upgrade plan. I told myself that paying the tax and resetting my payments back to 24 months was not worth the minor upgrades. Let’s be honest, the 11 pro max is a marginal upgrade over the XS max. I watched the keynote ecstatically because I felt as though Apple was making it so easy for me to avoid upgrading by releasing a barely upgraded phone.
However here I sit, seriously contemplating putting a pre order in. In fact I’m 98% sure that I will be pre ordering tonight. I can’t shake the new iPhone experience that I felt dating back to 2006 when I stood in line for the original iPhone. While it’s different, I still reclaim a little of that feeling every time I open the newest iPhone for the first time. I need that feeling. Apple has me, iPhone has me and no matter how hard I try to not upgrade, I simply can’t resist.
So to answer your question, I’m one of those Apple sheep. I don’t want to be. I know it makes me, and my wallet vulnerable. But Apple has me hooked to the point where my judgement on what constitutes a smart, logical purchase is crippled.
