Flicker happens in slow mo right?Here’s what my 13 pro screen shows in slow motion. No flicker really, just moving bars. It’s getting easier to use. Back to having hope. Now, if this works…to stay pro or go pro max.

I don’t feel the display is darker at all. I ended up going into accessibility and turning off auto brightness

Has anyone tried any screen protectors? Wondering if a privacy screen protector or even an anti glare screen protector could help.
Anti glare screen protector doesn't help, tested on my wife's XS Max, still awful.

It could be paranoia but I’ve got a light migraine after using the 13 all morning. It’s more like a sensation than a bad migraine but there’s something there.
I used it for 7 hours last night and I was fine. So it could be just a coincidence that I just have a migraine because it’s a hot day and maybe I need more water. I just think I’m going to be looking for excuses any time I get a migraine now but it could be the phone.
I wonder whether to return it for a Pro. I just don’t want to spend that much more for a phone I otherwise don’t need.

I have received today my 13 Pro Max and here are my results with the cheaper flicker meter, so don't expect very accurate results. But it's match the 480 Hz.
Middle ist Modulation deep.
Brightness level 50%:
100% Brightness:
On both it says that is high danger. LCD Display from iPad Pro 11 (2021) and Mi 10T Pro are on the green side. What i can say after good 20 min use that it is better than the S21 Ultra. But time will tell if it will be usable for me.

I use an app called Illuminance Pulsation Meter on my iPhone to measure pulsation coefficient. It works well. Just make sure to hold your phone steady if you are measuring with it.

I’ve spent the last hour+ using the 13 Pro. No headaches or nausea which is great. But definitely some eye grittiness and slight strain. It’s nothing like before, but something my 11 doesn’t cause. I really would like to keep this phone for the cameras and 512gb storage option. Just not sure the trade off is yet worth it. (I am not one who is worried about overall eye health with PWM. The only thing I’m concerned with his comfort.)

Do you see this too? No flicker? I don’t know if that’s going to solve THE problem, but I gotta believe a screen flickering less or not at all solves A problem. And I’m almost afraid to jump up and down for joy. Hoping to hear other people are seeing the same thing.

Hopefully iPads will never go to OLED. I don't think these slo mo videos mean anything. Videos record at a certain FPS against a phone that refreshes at a certain frequency. All variable rate OLED phones refresh at a frequency that is lower than an LCD.

The higher flicker rate will definitely help a lot of people. But unfortunately not all. There are some people who could not previously use the iPhone at the lower flicker rate, but will now with the 13 pro series. And then there are people who will need an even higher flicker rate to tolerate the screen, or people who simply cannot tolerate any flicker and better off with DC dimming.
However, it's nice to see Apple finally moving in the right direction with the flicker rate. With the 12/12pro series they lowered the flicker rate from the 11 pro series which was disappointing.

It will still be flickering - but a higher rate than slow mo camera can pickup thus creating a consistent image. Which appears to good for some of us, but not all sadly.
I dont think Apple has done this to address the user complaints - it will be down to the screen tech they are using for the 120hz.

My friends are starting to moan me. I was always the guy with the latest iPhone and Apple Watch. It seems i am going for a record 3rd year with the same iPhone…. the 11…. thank you Apple for saving me money and macrumors for not creating an article on the subject 😱

This has knocked me out of the "rat race" as well, and I'm actually glad it did. It made me take a step back to realize I don't need much to enjoy an iPhone. Every year when I upgraded, my usage and experience was still the same. Just my wallet was lighter.
I do however still enjoy watching from the sidelines.

Yes I didn’t think the flicker had entirely gone away. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. But higher frequency could be gentler on our eyes and brains, maybe not to the point that there are no issues, but even a little better seems just that: a little better.
I agree with you, but if there are no improvements, in a few years we will be like grandparents who are quite satisfied with their push-button Nokia. 😅

The only reason i want to upgrade on the new 12/13 form factor is the smaller weight and the better one hand user experience due to the little less smaller height. Nothing else…. I don’t care about the oled,the camera and other specs…. 11 is still fast,reliable and battery efficient.
