Your PASSCODE is required to ENABLE Face ID:

Read and weep: https://www.macworld.com/article/30...-to-enter-your-passcode-when-you-wake-up.html

Your password is required when you don't unlock your phone for 8 hours with TOUCH ID and Now face ID

I can't believe people overlook this fact.

Still a huge fail on stage, too bad Craig didn’t notice that, plus what the heck the demo model wasn’t enabled to use face unlock?

Hopefully the demo room will have media setting up FaceID and using it.

IF a phone is restarted you have to enable Touch ID or Face ID with a passcode first. They do not work after being restarted. It does not Face ID or Enter Passcode, it says enable.

That is not the case.
They prep devices to a "ready to use" state and do several dry runs before.

They ready devices and do hundreds of test-runs before a demo. It is A CLEAR FAIL of Face-ID.

Citation, please.

If Face ID failed or not, it was a massive own goal by Apple.

So should we judge you by your somewhat weird post? :D

You know, I always hate having to enter my passcode after restart, maybe this will do away with that.

I’m surprised someone didn’t clearly mention what happened and do a few more unlocks.

I don’t really care, I don’t want Face ID replacing Touch ID plain and simple. CIA is probably having a field day with announcement of this Bionic-aware SoC

People thought it would be spatially aware to unlock your phone laying on a table, and that proved not true. It needs direct line of sight. This is where TouchID has a leg up. I can rest my finger on my phone not facing me, and still unlock it!

Also, when it did unlock, it seemed to take longer than I would’ve thought to go from Lock to home screen

To each his own,

The preso was sloppy, and I came away unimpressed

The video they showed indicates it can be laying flat and not pointed directly at you.
