But so many on here believe the current Notch is supposed to be a design feature of current iphones! LMAO
It's not really a 'feature', but it is part of their design language. The notch does make an iPhone instantly recognisable, and that makes their products walking advertisements. Just as the home button was and white AirPods are. Apple's use of squircles in their design language is a mildly interesting read.

And this is why I find their reported transition away from the notch confusing. They do not appear to be trading it for any screen real estate, and the rumour as posted is that they will change it again next year. Apple don't normally iterate design on such a short cycle.

Was there a video by some random YouTuber with zero industry connections?

Yea I agree. I think the Touch ID on the iPad Air is great and as cool as it is, I never use Memojis

Remember when Apple was revolutionary? It’s been so long, I don’t remember the last “WOW!” I got from an Apple product

So instead it will look more like a huge dead pixel on your screen? I prefer the notch tbh it’s not like you are going to gain any space. This seems somewhat more distracting, just floating around on your screen. It already drives me insane when I apply a new screen protector and there is a fine dust particle stuck underneath. Makes me wanna start all over

You seem to have forgotten that the exclamation mark was the classic iPhone look from the iPhone 4 to iPhone 8. Personally I prefer it over the bathtub notch of the 13 series which accentuated the corners much more than the longer X-12 notch.

Can we please forget FaceID altogether and just have TouchID on the side button? Please? FaceID is awful.
Can’t tell if you’re trolling but Touch ID is prone to failure when skin is either a little too dry or a little too wet, and I have the newest iPad mini with it built into the side button and it’s so awkward to use that I just end up punching in my code 95% of the time.

Face ID just works. The hate for it honestly baffles me.

For some reason, I see the screen between the 2 holes as a prime area for cracking and breaking

It’s a clever marketing ploy really. Make the cheaper phones look dated by releasing a cooler new model and boom, nobody wants the iPhone 14 normal model.

This exact plan worked with the iPhone X. Did Apple sell any iPhone 8’s? ?

bring it on!

can’t wait to see the reveal / commercial showing the “i” in iPhone magically turning into the “dual-hole” and then revealing the phone itself.

I have the exact opposite problem. My mini is flawless, but my 12.9 pro works 1/8th of the time. I’d like to see both.

Apple definitely knows how to keep people talking (good or bad) about its products
Apple has nothing to do with it. It’s the hype surrounding sites like this that build the non-sensical arguments. Do you really think consumers discuss ‘punch holes or notches’? Absolutely not. You have people who are obsessed with the little features that Apple will do, and turn into something that’s trivial and unnoticed by 99% of consumers who use their smart phone without complaining about technology advancements that doesn’t affect their experience.

Funny, and I can only assume here, but had this design came out first and Apple later switched to the current notch, the response would have been a lot more interesting.

I for one hate the notch. It worst when viewing pictures or videos in full screen.
