I’m only human lol thanks for the info. Okay, let’s wait until January.
You’re an Apple bear too. You constantl talk it down. I constantly take it up, but at least I use facts. People like you are grasping for reasons to support your narrative, even when it literally means making stuff up.

Apple is silent on almost all hard numbers unless they are reporting earnings. They usually talk about “strong” demand at product launches, but nothing more.

Apple’s numbers do all the talking. Look no further than Q417 numbers they put up just 2 months ago. Simply amazing with no new products.

I have to disagree with you on that. Please quote me on talking down on Apple? I only feel that they rushed it with the X; Face ID is not perfect and the notch does not look like an Apple design. They had to rush it because of the anniversary.

You talk utter nonsense like relentless power. Did I disagree with you regarding your previous post?

How do you know it is learning anything? And, when you have to enter a passcode, it does not work for you (you are just confused). The notion that it is learning something when you are entering the psscode may have a placebo effect though.

What?

Put your hand over your mouth. Under your nose. Above your eyes. It will fail. Enter passcode. Next time it won’t fail.

OK what is that color changing art on the wall and where do I get one?
(apologies if it's been asked before)

Or faceid wasn’t rushed. It’s doing or performing exactly what and how Apple envisioned. Similar to Touch ID one in the 5s. The “notch” wasn’t rushed either and is a very Apple design choice. There is room for all opinions and beliefs.

Does not Touch ID works just as good (even faster) but without the need to swipe? One may call it "invisible security".
Not faster for me, and not as good either because Touch ID just doesn't work with damp hands. Face ID is also faster for me using Apple Pay.

I know it's learning because because when wearing two glasses at first it failed, and after a couple of times it now succeeds. If it didn't learn, it wouldn't ever succeed in that situation.

It may or may not mean "learning". Now try it without glasses, does it still work? "Learning" may mean something as simple as retaking the dot map. Also, it may "learn" that glasses is an option but it does not mean that overall accuracy will improve.

Absolutely love face ID. Way better than touch ID, which failed with chalky or damp fingers or with touch enabled gloves, and which required you to press a button. I have no problem tilting the phone toward my face to unlock it. And swiping up feels so much more elegant and natural compared to pressing a button. Best iPhone upgrade since they admitted bigger is better -- maybe best ever.

My wife has the X and she likes it a lot. She has had no issues with the face ID.... My only "issue" is that you have to swipe up after it unlocks.... that's dumb. Should just open.

It's not. And it's intentional. I suspect it will likely be a settable option in a future iOS update.

That behavior allows you to see any accumulated notifications before landing on your desktop that you might otherwise miss. Since at that point the phone is unlocked, you can simply touch a notification which will take you to the relevant app (Messages, Mail, Calendar, etc.)

Face ID was good until I grew a beard. Now my phone never unlocks with sunglasses on for example, and fail much more often, I guess I need to rescan myself with a beard and then whenever I shave.

FaceID all the way. It's accurate most of the time and works as expected. One can understand that the demo was not a fail during Apple Keynote. It's incredibly fast in auto fill too.

OnePlus 5T face recognition is a toy. No one would seriously use it to protect their private data. Credit card companies (the EMV standard) won't let it be used for identity verification on any smartphone... except the iPhone X. If you're bothered by being unable to unlock the iPhone X when it's laying on your desk, then prop it up on a $20 charging stand. When an alert comes in, just look at the X and it will unlock.
Heck, the OnePlus 5T can't even stream HD video from Netflix, Amazon Prime or Google Play!

Personally I would like to have the option for both. face ID and fingerprint sensor - BUT not in back. I believe apple was checking to be able to put the fingerprint technology under the screen, but had some issues. I have a feeling it will be back under the screen once they find a way to do it good. until then I'll be staying with my iPhone 7... :)

5T is 499$. Shouldn't be compared with 1000+ $ phones. And if I were to use Android phone I would never go with anything except Pixel. Face ID is working great, there are some scenarios where it falls behind Touch ID and vice versa. We are using 1st gen product and it'll only get better from here.

He's of the "If you're not with me on the bandwagon, then you're against me" mindset. It's been the theme of his posts for weeks. There isn't much room for discussion, unfortunately.

I wish we could have a dialogue where different opinions were welcomed. That can be difficult here.

It's like "Captain America: Civil War" sometimes...except with much lower stakes. :D

I personally agree with you (although perhaps not on the "rushed" part) and think that more compromises than usual were made on the X. But it won't matter. It'll sell plenty because so many people like "latest and greatest" tech, and the X has enough pure upgrades (e.g., speed, camera, screen) that most people will be willing to tolerate the things they dislike.

Was it that slow for you?

;)

I just wish the passcode keyboard was always on the lock screen. Or it should AT LEAST pop up the very second FaceID fails and the little lock shakes.

Right now it is a ridiculously slow process of FaceID failing, swiping up, FaceID slowly trying again and failing, and then finally giving access to the passcode.

There are instances where I know it will always fail (flat on a desk, for instance) but I still have to let it fail twice before putting in the code.

This might have been asked, but what’s the coffee cup brand in the video? Looks heated

Fwiw, it seems extremely easy to have a civil, cogent discussion even when there is disagreement across the aisle.

As for the bolded, I buy the products that are perfect best for my needs. maybe other people have found perfection in electronic devices, cars, etc, but I don’t and acquire what works best, tolerating the things I don’t like.

Nah, the Iris Scanner is secure, but obviously less secure than the iPhone X FaceID because it only uses the iris and can be fooled with special contacts.
And is it really faster? You have to really stare at the phone, in a fairly specific position and with plenty of light, before it can pick up the iris. I found the feature really annoying for most parts

Hey nice Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition Looks just like mine lol but anyway Face ID for me works 99% of the time works great! I’m so use to it now plus the Touch gestures I went back using my iPhone 6 Plus not knowing how to use it lol iPhone X is amazing !

I want to know if government or police can unlock telephone using face id when prisoner refuses, how about dead person? did anyone tried that yet?

You have iPhone X right? Then I elect you to be the first cadaver for this FaceID unlock test ;) lol just kidding but seriously you’d wat to see that tested?

Not sure there is or any current laws regarding that.
