Everyone with iPhone X.. try to unlock like it is advertised in apples videos.
See screenshot below. It does not work for me in this angle.

How are your results??

Edit: thx to this user, it seems there are several ways to improve faceid. this is not really the solving the problem that apples advertisment with the girl in the pool is not a real-working use-case but anyway. :)

I am very happy with FaceID and as it was my biggest concern regarding the iPhone X that TouchID is gone, I am actually very surprised how well FaceID works.

If you want to check which angle is right for FaceID you might install the app „MeasureKit“. There is an option which shows you the working angle of FaceID.

If your Face is in the right angle for FaceID but it doesn’t unlock you may enter the passcode and FaceID will add this information so the next time it will unlock.

This „learning curve“ is actually the most impressive thing about FaceID.

I can tilt it and it works. The. Add is kind of a stretch.

Face ID doesn't work unless you're holding the phone. Its a security feature.

Edit: Looks like I was wrong. Just tried it myself while having my phone lay flat on the counter. However it is limited in range, which could explain why that screen grab is a little misleading. However apple did have a commercial for the iPhone 6 with a cyclist in the rain.

interesting, because it is working for me when it is laying on a table.
I think the angle is just not possible like apple told us in the advertisments :-o

Mine will unlock at a slight angle whilst flat on a table. Not tried the exact angle as advertised. When flat on a table and looking directly at the phone it works perfectly.

Can’t tell if serious...

When you set up faceid some have run the second scan from a low angle to improve this. I think it works pretty good for me, not sure about comparing to the ad though.

It does not work 90% with my custom Ray-Ban large Aviator Rm3025 with silver frame and brown polarized.
I reset FaceID several times, still same. As soon as I remove sunglass half way, it work unlock. :(

At least they didn’t lie about the dot projector. That VERGE video where Nilay does the scan under IR was amazing. You can see all those projection dots.

There seem to be a few different Ray-Ban lenses that block IR rays, which is the issue.

jipp, heard about that and set mine up again with a different angle as before. but - still not working in such an extreme angle like apple advertised. it is really annoying to get that close to my phone when unlocking it while lying on a table -.-

Not seen this video, will have to check it out. Overall I’m very impressed with Face ID though!

Got o THE VERGE.com and check the review. Was awesome to look at. All those dots :)

Will do! I have also notified on some videos you can see the IR beam on Face ID, similar to a TV remote. Obviously IR is invisible to the eye so this can’t be seen whilst using Face ID would be annoying if that was visible.

Yeah. The cameras catch that.
