Apple is amazing when it comes to Advertising/Marketing. They are the only company that can make commercials that show portrait lighting working in video or hype up Face ID with the infamous picture of the lady in the swimming pool, yet the features doesn't even work as advertised. And each year they still have people lining up for each release.

Which is why I work in marketing. Marketing does amazing things.

Mine also 100% doesn’t work with sunglasses

As soon as I read your post I tried with both my eye glasses and sunglasses. Both work great. Maybe redo your face registration. Make sure you're bare faced. (No glasses)

Trying to come back to the topic, could those of you who have an iPhone X kindly do the test above and report? Thanks in advance

You were being serious? That really seems like a lot to ask. You may be better served watching one of the millions of youtube videos. Or better yet, go demo one in person. I feel like you should have to pay for a request THAT specific.

To those stating that this feature is working, could you kindly do this little experiment:
Put the phone on the desk, next to the right side of your keyboard & mouse/touchpad.
Unlock it with face Id while sitting on your chair, left hand on the keyboard, right hand on the phone.

This is my normal setup at work and my major concern about face Id. If it does not work well I will rather stay with my touchID setup

I originally done bare face. I guess I will try a new scan to make sure

At least they didn’t lie about the dot projector. That VERGE video where Nilay does the scan under IR was amazing. You can see all those projection dots.

You mean like this from 2009.

Amazing new technology.

I don't think they are the only company. Its their cult following. My iphone 10 doesnt really work well outside in bright sunlight or sun in general. But i knew that going in.

My firm works with apple and a few others that defy logic.

But your right, apple is the best as far as tech. Most people actually believe that face id technology is new. If you tell them its old they will argue for Apple even when the evidence proves otherwise. If they believe you then they will say "yeah but apple waited to perfect it!
Its actually very Comical.

I actually spit up my coffee laughing at people clapping at the keynote when announcing the new apple tv. It now has 4K and HDR! Its works like magic! Ignoring that a roku and smart tvs had the same ability for the last two and a half years.

The iphone 10 has a new OLED display that is great enough to be in a iphone!

They like to mesmerise the crowd with the words magic and magical and super quite a bit.

Its not the greatest marketing trick ever played on the public though.

That would be bottled water.

I am very happy with FaceID and as it was my biggest concern regarding the iPhone X that TouchID is gone, I am actually very surprised how well FaceID works.

If you want to check which angle is right for FaceID you might install the app „MeasureKit“. There is an option which shows you the working angle of FaceID.

If your Face is in the right angle for FaceID but it doesn’t unlock you may enter the passcode and FaceID will add this information so the next time it will unlock.

This „learning curve“ is actually the most impressive thing about FaceID.

Can someone pin this post. This is the only post in this thread that matters in relation to Face ID issues.

Alot depends on how you set up your faceID. It works for me at weird angles and flat on a surface to my surprise at least twice.

Why not just turn face ID off to unlock the phone? Where are people going or doing that you need your phones locked 100% of the time? I'm pretty sure most people here don't even let other people touch their phone let alone having to worry about someone breaking in to it. And if it is lost or stolen there are ways to lock the phone then at that time. I just don't get the reasoning behind being at home alone in the bed and having your phone locked. Then complaining about it being a hassle to unlock. My phone arrives Friday and this will be my first iPhone since the original. Turning face ID off to unlock the phone doesn't turn the feature off for apple pay and other secure areas of the phone correct?

It’s an IQ test. Only smart people can use it.

having this tech produced at such a small size and in the millions is absolutely new, as in never done before now.

Why would you keep turning face ID off and back on when you're home or leaving the house.
Same people value their privacy and info than to have their device completely unsecured at all times.
That's a really poor excuse for a poor implementation of unlocking the device IMO.

How Face ID be beaten by a mask
I wonder what was his require attention settings.
