Would have REALLY appreciated TouchID on the power button for the iPhone13, you know, during the era of COVID.
Are you at tech/design engineer, more specifically smart phone related? I kind of doubt you are.

Do you think Apple could possibly just make a change within less than a year on an iPhone that has at least a year in advance of planning? For example, when they were release this year‘s iPhone in September 2022, they’re already working on the 2023 iPhone and beyond . My point is, Apple has a roadmap, and it’s not like they completely alter the technology just because of a pandemic. Apple caters specifically to one person wants on a discussion forum, when I’d wager that the majority of people use face ID perfectly fine during this pandemic.They made alterations to Face ID with masks, which is manageable.

At long last, a possible upgrade from my 8+.

Actually, I got it only one year ago, when my 6+ mute switch broke, and the 8 was the latest one without silly notches or ugly holes...

Generally, new technology excites me.. relocating the face ID sensor from the tiny notch to under the screen is not a game changer and most people wouldn't even notice. When are we getting the iFold or some motorised slider etc or just something that blows us away? More megapixels or battery life.. we have enough of those for now:)

You are correct - I am not an engineer, nor do I work in supply chain.
Regardless of roadmap, they had already technically achieved what I proposed, so the idea is not completely out of the blue. FaceID with a mask has not worked once for me, and I am hardly the "one person" to suggest this as evidenced by several comments on this forum post. Apple once did an update to the iPad 3rd gen to 4th gen - 6 months from the original iPad 3 to change from a 30 pin to lightning connector, so they have historically been able to react quickly.

Covid will be with us for a while to come, and masks will too for many of us. We need Touch ID to return asap.

Am I the only one that really, at the end of the day, simply does not even notice or care about the notch area all that much?

@macsplus You are not alone.
I notice the relentless anti-notch posts more than the actual notch on my 13 Pro. 😜

Jokes aside, I bet more people never think about the notch than can only think about the notch. But... That's how it goes: one person's ceiling is another person's floor.

These leaks are designed for them to find out who's doing the leaking, just like all those AW rumors last year.
