LOL, this is absurd. Companies that want to advertise on this horrible platform called FB are their clients, not the ones posting what they ate for breakfast - this is facebook's raw material. Asking for them to pay for service is equivalent to asking trees in the forest to pay for the "privilege" to be turned into paper.

Yes, Apple is the good guy, standing up for our Privacy rights. Give me a break, I love their products and apple have made tons of money of me, with their obscene mark ups. How much money have I given face book? 0$... What I have I received from Facebook? I've sold tons of stuff on Facebook Marketplace, I've found friends I haven't seen in years, I've promoted my photography business, my wife has promotes her plates business all for fre

I still haven’t haven’t been asked once for any app. I guess because I hit the toggle to not allow lol
Same here. And I have the necessary toggle turned on ("Allow Apps to Request to Track"). So why haven't I received the pop-ups?

I think I'm going to turn the toggle to off to make sure those apps aren't tracking me.

Please please please start charging for Facebook and Instagram! If most of my friends get off the platforms, it will make it that much easier for me to quit it entirely. With every bit of douche-baggery that Zuckerberg pulls, I use FB and Instagram less.

So, if this is popping up from within the app (i.e., it isn't a system level "Facebook would like to do XYZ" when "allow apps to ask to track" is turned off (which I noticed it is BY DEFAULT), can we get said apps booted from the App Store for not complying with OS level preferences regarding tracking?

i.e., its user-hostile behaviour that is not complying with OS level preferences.

Facebook won't charge. They know damn well people will jump like a sinking ship!

I have no intention of making it easy for Facebook to track me.

Firstly, I hope Apple pulls Facebook up on its tactics. But if not, it will be goodbye on both platforms from me, I’ll not pay for either service as neither offers anything worthy of payment.

I think I’d be happier if Facebook charged money for features, and as a result many fewer people used it.

Yeah… I’m sure all the 13 year old wannabe-YouTube stars would love to pay for social media.
I see a catch 22 there, there’s a large age range bracket that probably would rather be tracked and not pay, akin to pirated software in exchange of clogging the system with viruses and malware. However, how does that serves Facebook though? This same bracket wouldn’t buy anything shown laser targeted or not, at least directly.

Am I the only member here who never use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Flickr, Pinterest, Tiktok, WhatsApp and any other social media sites. You won’t find picture of me anywhere on the internet. They don’t exist. Heck, I don‘t even own a smartphone.

Notice the clever wording here: “HELP keep Facebook free of charge.”

They know what they’re doing. On the surface, it sounds like if you block tracking, Facebook/IG will start costing money. However in a literal sense, they’re simply saying that allowing tracking *helps* keep Facebook free, implying that it’s not solely dependent on the tracking status.

Dont be fooled by this scare tactic. Facebook/IG would NEVER charge for basic access to their apps. They simply can’t at this stage. They just want you to *help* them rake in even more money thanks to personalized ads via tracking.

No. Nope. Not going to happen.
Charge for FB and Insta? OK, go ahead and watch your platform turn into a ghost town.

They have to cover their costs somehow, businesses have to be profitable. Your ad data was their way of payment for all of the resources you use on their servers. Without it and without tracking, their profits and revenue might take a serious hit without targeted advertising.
