I used to be on fb all the time. Now, I don't use facebook anymore. Reddit is a better social network.

Interesting.

If Facebook found a way around apples conditions on how the app is suppose to function, well that's clever, if you get caught claim a bug. Seems like it's been like is for over 6 months, had people not complained, it would have gone unnoticed .

It's not necessarily malice. It shows an arrogance and a disrespect for their customers though. They decided that their business interests were more important than Apple's rules or their customers' battery life. That is not a good look and that is why they were more than happy to brush it under the rug by calling it a bugfix. I don't even blame them, I'd call it a bugfix too. Owning up to this would attract some serious egg on the face for no real reason.

On the flip side, it also looks bad for Apple that they either missed this or let it slide for awhile now. That's why Apple won't be commenting on this issue, they just want it to go away.

At this point I'm fine, they changed the app and hopefully it uses less battery, but let's not pretend that they didn't get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

given the official news that FB fixed a battery bug, and apple having no say about a violation, it's just a wild conspiracy theory at best. If they did get caught with thier hand in the cookie jar, it's been there for a long time.... Fist beta if iOS 9?

I Can not get the Update on my iPhone 5... It does finish the install only downloads it. Tried it repeatedly.

I don't trust them either. Wish there was a better platform that is as widely adopted as facebook, while I don't necessarily like to post every little detail of my life, it is nice to keep in touch with some folks from distant parts of my life which I otherwise would not likely hear from.

Google+ ?

safari crashes? ive been using it for 5 years and i thnk it froze only once (apart from in youtube). i must be very very lucky then!
Have you ever turned it on, if you have, it's crashed, if you haven't, it might still have crashed.

"The version released today has some improvements that should start making this better."

These words fill me with such confidence.
Depends on how you look at it. I read this as Facebook acknowledging the problem, and that they have identified and are working on further improvements. Don't just bold "should". Bold "should start". ;)

That's even better news than just a quick fix and leaving any remaining issues behind them.

The Facebook app has 18,000 classes, more than 3000 people contributed, tools used by everyone (including Apple for all their apps) like Xcode don't work anymore for the Facebook app with that extremely ridiculous 18 thousand classes (i.e. 36 thousand source code files).

I'm a software designer with decades of experience and can tell you that the above is literally insane!

You haven't met Facebook.

Also, your snapchat usage doesn't seem so bad for 7 days; but 24 hours for Facebook is RIDICULOUS!

I'm not saying Facebook isn't bad, it's terrible on mine sometimes too, but Snapchat seems to be the battery killer app for me! This is the 24hr usage. Surely it's not normal for background usage is it?

So with this background audio issue being fixed does this mean it fixes when you close then Facebook app and play music the audio won't be lower than normal anymore? It used to happen all the time when I had my phone connected to my car Bluetooth.

This is my biggest complaint about the Facebook app. This still happens to me all the time -- car Bluetooth or not. If I glance at FB for a moment and then go to the Music app, the audio from my Music app is lower than it should be. Installing the update now, so we'll see what happens.
