this apple contradicting themselves, why apple is adding FB to mac os after removing FB from the share option feature, well i hope i get the option to remove it, because this is one app that i don’t like running in the background, even if i don’t have any FB account or don’t even run the app, but you don’t know what the app might be doing, spying or collection in the back ground, sorry FB but you builded this bad reputation and i personally don’t lime you or trust you, i’ll be blocking this app with little snitch or similar, tim talked about security and privacy but now they doing this, i wonder what has changed in the last few months, absolutely nothing, things didn’t got any better, things got worse but tim wants to includes this. useless app on mac os, this is proof that tim has lost it,he don’t even know what he wants or where he is going
thank you for that, this why I hate reading news from my phone, my wife was also rushing me, so I guess I miss that part, I really love my monitor compared against phone screen , I really thought that the app was integrated on Mac OS, no wonder I found the whole thing very weird, thanks for letting me knowI don't get it, you use Little Snitch which is more for advanced users but you don't seem to understand this is Facebook releasing an App which you yourself must download and install.
yeah I just found out now that I'm home, now I know don't read Mac rumors using my iPhone while I'm waiting for my wifeThis is not something Apple is adding. Facebook is releasing this for the Mac. Apple has nothing to do with this.
next time I will read Mac rumor after drinking 3 cups of coffeeThis is an app developed and distributed by Facebook, not Apple. Apple is not installing this onto your Mac without your consent. You'd need to install it like any other app.
well as you already know I made a big mistake, I thought apple was integrating the app on Mac OS😵
Where did you get the idea that Apple is doing this? This app has nothing to do with Apple, Facebook is the developer. There's no need to block it with little snitch because you would have to install it for it to be on your computer.
lol please forgive me, now I know, this so embarrassingApple is not doing anything. Facebook is releasing an application for macOS.
You have to install this, so you certainly can remove it. It will not run in the background unless you launch it.
If you do not trust them, do not download their app and install it. Totally your choice.
This is a third party app, that you would have to go and download. What does this have to do with Tim Cook?
thank you for that, this why I hate reading news from my phone, my wife was also rushing me, so I guess I miss that part, I really love my monitor compared against phone screen , I really thought that the app was integrated on Mac OS, no wonder I found the whole thing very weird, thanks for letting me know
no problem is ok, you didn't say nothing badMaybe my reply was too harsh, was not my intention, if so sorry for that.
Don't think Apple will make that mistake twice (built into the OS), I rather they will remove Facebook Apps from iOS altogether since it's a @#$% virus.
Telegram or Signal are far better options for iOS to Android mixed comms and groups.Unfortunately, Messenger is still the best way to communicate for people who use Android. I tried messaging my Android friends with SMS, but it's just not an option these days with all the photo and video sharing. Plus they don't always get SMS instantly. It's really nice knowing your message has at least been delivered, especially when in areas with spotty reception.
That is if they’re willing to use them. My girlfriend is 100% Facebook messenger for most of her friends so that’s what we use. It’s annoying as all hell but I live with it. I don’t have Facebook the main app on my phone, but for a new app on my Mac this actually would be a good thing for me.Telegram or Signal are far better options for iOS to Android mixed comms and groups.
View attachment 834582 Mind you, I don't want anything to do with Messenger, but it's basically unavoidable. - It's the only way to coordinate things with my uni course mates essentially. Just because it's a platform everybody is on. You can talk to some over Discord, some over Skype and so forth, but if you want to reach everyone on the team, you write a Facebook post. If you want to coordinate with your study group, you use Messenger.
Oof, that's rough. I guess that's when you have to hold your nose and do it, but it's terrible. That works if you have their numbers and/or email addresses. Nobody ever shared that at uni or anything. Basically from the start someone just made a closed Facebook group and told people to sign up, and that was that. And it works, so nobody is looking to find alternatives regardless of how crap Facebook is. And if you recommend an alternative you're met with opposition because "Can't we just stick with this? It works and we don't want to migrate".
Not true. I know a lot of people who've deleted Facebook in the past couple years. Anybody with a mobile phone has SMS by default. There are many options, but only Messenger can actually replace SMS because everyone you know uses it.
By "the peanut gallery", do you mean this forum?Incoming anti Facebook comments from the peanut gallery
I have no doubts they are, but your average joe isn't using those.Telegram or Signal are far better options for iOS to Android mixed comms and groups.
Facebook will launch a new desktop app for Messenger on both macOS
