If these were made in any other country, they’d be hit with cease and desist letters and then police raids. Being China however, Cook’s overlords will as always turn a blind eye to knockoffs.

Cook's overlords... thanks for giving me a good laugh. If you didn't really mean it, it's an okay joke and if you did mean what you said, that's even funnier yet.

Not sure how many of you are in chip design business but it's extremely difficult to duplicate die level chip not to mention it cost millions of dollars to fab and package these SOC. I think these Knockoffs might be using real H1 chips possibly left over units from Apple. How they're able to get them is another story.

Apple seem to be trying to become a designer brand. If these are like Beats Headphones, they are a rip off ... "According to The New York Times, reports that according to headphone experts, a pair of Beats could cost as little as $14 to make. Yep, even while the cheapest price you can pay for a pair is $199.99, and the most expensive is available for $699.99."

$14 to make yea.. The inflated cost come from millions spent in the R&D process and tools used in the manufacturing process.

They are not using real Apple chips.

They are using a "Airoha 1526P" bluetooth 5.0 processor.
It mimics Apple's proprietary W1 chip & more.

I bought some fake AirPods back in February of this year from Wish. Paid like $40 shipped. A month later they showed up. The charging case doesn’t charge them with out being on a wireless charger on plugged in, and the cover on the case was super flimsy (since snapped off) and the battery life isn’t as good as real AirPods. BUT THEY WERE $40.

The case supports wireless charging (works well actually) and the sound is better than the AirPods. They fall out of my ears (just like the real deal) and they are quicker when you tap to pause/play. I think they are called the TWS i10. I’d recommend these over the $199 wireless charging AirPods. Did I mention that they were only $40?

I can’t speak for these new knock offs though. I don’t understand why greedy Tim Apple couldn’t have replaced the $159 AirPods with the new AirPods with wireless charging case. $40 for wireless charging? Steve Jobs didn’t increase the price of the iPod nano when Apple added video play back to the 3rd gen in 2007. He didn’t increase the price when they added video recording in 2009. iPhone pricing stayed the same until recently. Jobs would never have offered good, better, best. He just offered the best he could at the affordable well known and liked price points.

$149 should get you AirPods with wireless charging and the non wireless charging should be discontinued. AirPods Pro should be $199. Period.
Lost of revisionist history in your post. Jobs always offered good, better, best and customers complained about it just like you 20 years ago. Apple doesn't arbitrarily raise prices when they add new features. They raise prices when something physically changes in the new design. That is because they want to recoup the cost of R&D and new components used. They famously eat the costs of new software R&D which is proven by the fact that they started giving away major OS X updates. BTW, Jobs always charged for major OS software updates but not Cook.

It’s true that Apple won’t reduce prices while us dumb gits are happy to pay out. I’m happy to buy elsewhere for good quality genuine kit from competitors. Go Bose.

So because you think AirPods are too expensive it’s OK to rip off Apple’s design?

Apple should reduce the price to $180 or 200.
No they shouldn’t.

Why doesn't anyone knock off Microsoft's (now delayed) "Surface Earbuds"? Oh, right... because they look like giant gauge earrings in your ear. 😂

A well intentioned family member accidentally bought me knock off air pods a couple of years back. The only gripe I had with them was audio latency when watching video. Which was so annoying to be useless. Otherwise was a surprisingly close exact copy. I ultimately bought the real ones a couple of months later.

I once purchased a set of two, advertised as “OEM”, EarPods off of eBay for $10.00 plus free shipping.

No bass and the stereo was reversed. Lol

No noise cancellation makes them utterly pointless. Also, all the whiny little girls on here complaining about price crack me up. If you don’t like the price, don’t buy it. Simple.

I’m sure these will sell well on Amazon, they seem to be quite happy selling Chinese counterfeit crap. Careful out there folks.

It’s a shame that MacRumors profits from and provides free marketing for illegal counterfeit products like this.

That's actually pretty impressive, all things considered.

It is amazing to see how closely these counterfeit Chinese knock off‘s can replicate Apple products. The popularity of Apple products is such to an extreme, these Chinese manufacturers will go to _any_ lengths to portray the AirPods as closely as possible. What’s even more impressive, it’s how quickly these ‘knock off’ products reach the market, considering the AirPod Pros have only been available approximately a month.

Why would anyone care if the sound quality matches Apple's when Apple's sound quality has always been mediocre at best?

Clearly don't own AirPods Pros, Tried them, Read any reviews or heard anyones opinion on them then?

Always amazed at how readily MR gives publicity to illegal IP thieves. Surprised Apple has never asked you to stop highlighting garbage knockoffs.

Given their business is mostly Leaks and Exclusives... I don't think Apple would have any contact whatsoever.

Personally I don't know why MR post this stuff. Of course it's going to be junk. I've have countless no brand headphones and tiny mono BT headsets for listening to audiobooks in bed and they are all junk. Never last sound is passable for Voice at best.

Bought and returned them.
