This week (and next?) is Fasnacht is running, they seem to throw this in during the summer even though they run this event in February.

Anyways this seems to be quite a divisive event, where the AFKers outnumber the active players, and generally it generates a lot of complaints. I don't care about the rewards, so I largely ignore the event. I did do one yesterday and there were something like 16 AFKers, and for the beginning portion of the event, I was soloing it. Eventually a couple of others joined in.

I'm not sure why Bethesda doesn't change the event, to force participation to get rewards, but its been an issue since they introduced this event. This being a game, if its not fun, I'll stop doing it, so I don't let that thing impact me - I largely stay in a private world.

I wonder how many of the AFKers are bots ?

You think the players in the game are bots?
The game doesn't have bots in that sense, and its players wanting the rewards but not willing to invest in doing the events. This event runs hourly, and so if you are able to keep the character in the game, you'll have 24 sets of rewards (provided each hour the event is successfully completed)

The current fishing season ends on 09/02, and I can safely say I did not go fishing a single time. I have no idea if you'll be able to fish after the season, I suspect you can but it won't be part of the rewards.

I just see players drawn to this environment viewing fishing as a not fun way to spend time…

…sorry typo, I edited this to the opposite. 🙃

I don't think this season had a huge impact on player volumes. This season which had the fishing ability started in June and will end tomorrow. While June numbers do nudge up higher, july and Augusts numbers are not terribly different then prior months

If you go to the fallout 76 reddit sub, it seems quite popular as people discussing the good/bad/ugly of fishing, it was a topic that seemed to show a lot of people engaged. I've previously mentioned my disdain for fishing, in real life and virtually, so I won't beat a dead horse. I think I was probably an outlier in not doing the fishing.

Edited my previous post. First shot was the ever persistent not paying attention. I don’t think fishing is a fun thing to do in a game like fallout 76, but there are probably some players who do like it.

The system is coming down today, I ran some benchmarks on my main heavy weapon, so I know what the damages are as a before snapshot, this afternoon when the game comes back up, I'll see how bad it is. Bethesda has continued to monkey with the perk cards, this time its VATs and the heavy gunner perks.

There's no longer weapon type perk cards, prior to all of this stuff, the perk cards mimicked Bethesda's other fallout games, where commando was for automatic weapons, riflemen for rifles and heavy gunners for, you guessed it heavy guns. My question is with Fallout 5 in development, will the SPECIAL fall its predecessors or copy Fallout 76. I wonder, because tbh, I don't like these changes.

So testing Fallout 76 post update I'm seeing a general nerf towards slow firing heavy weapons. The heavy gunner perk cards changed so you get instead of increasing damage of heavy gunners you get a stacked effect for faster firing weapons, that is the more bullets you fire you start getting more damage. The plasma caster is a slow firing weapon, so per shot its impact is less effective. Where as I was able to one shoot a super mutant, it now takes 2 or 3

I'm sort of disappointed but not surprised. I started reworking my SPECIAL to be more of rifleman build moving forward.

I will say they completely revamped the build menu, and its a lot more logically laid out and efficiently setup. Muscle memory is such that I'm having a bit of trouble navigating but it looks a lot better, with some collision rules being relaxed and more freedom to build stuff then before.
