If you have only owned VW and Audis, how do you know they're the best?

He didn't say that, right? He just said these are his favourite brands...

BTW, normally there are other people in the circle of friends who own different brands. You hear what they are telling you about their cars and occasionally you have a ride with them or you are even driving yourself. Then there are also other occasions like car rental...

And liking a car or a brand has to do a lot with emotions. It's also the look and feel of a car. I for one don't like most of the north american cars/brands for many reasons. For example there is the ugliness of the designs and the cheap materials used for the interior. Built-quality and gas consume are also a subject. This doesn't say anything about their reliabilty. They could be the most reliable cars in the world, I still wouldn't like them.

There are no objective measures for that questions. Otherwise everybody would live in the same kind of house (with the same colors and interior), would have the same girl-friend and wear the same cloth and hair-style. Variety is something very nice, why shouldn't it apply to cars as well?

From a rational point of view many people don't even need a car or they are driving a car way too big compared to their needs. Many gadgets in modern cars are unecessary for bringing your from A to B, they are purely there to raise an imaginary comfort.

So don't ask for rational reasons why somebody likes a certain brand because it doesn't make sense...

I like different cars from different brands. But most of them I would never buy. Too expensive or too big. Cars in my book are a waste of resources and money. Still I am fascinated by the craftsmanship they were constructed with. But if you need to have one you should always ask yourself what you really need.

Until we had our second daughter we were driving this:

I don't have picture of our own little car online, but it's the same model...

Then, right before we got our second daughter we bought this car, because we couldn't fit 2 adults and 2 kids in the little car:

Both cars are FIATs. The fist one I bought new in January 1997, so it's almost 9 years old and still serves its purpose very well (my wife bringing the kids to the kindergarten and driving to university). It was cheap to buy and the running costs are very low.

The other one we bought a little bit more than a year ago and it is necessary to transport the whole family, but still is a compromise since I am using it alone very often to get to my clients. So it is just big enough for the family but small enough to not feel bad driving it alone many times. It was on sale at the dealer and I got a a really good prize. Of course there might be "better" brands like VW... but I am not willing to spend the double amount of money just to drive a VW. Cars in my book are pretty much at the bottom of the list of necessities and we like to spend our money for more useful things...

To make it short. I have driven other cars in my live. ..and my favourite brand is Audi and VW. They might not be the most reliable cars on the street. but their costumer service and the look of the cars make up for that.

my favorite luxury car company would have to be Lamborghini. i've never seen such nice cars as the ones put out by them. my favorite "everyday" car company is Volkswagen.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather have an ugly car that reliably gets me from point A to B than a car that looks good but may or may not start up. Ideally, you get the best of both worlds, which is what my car provides me :D
