But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.”

Quotes

The computer is my favourite invention. I feel lucky to be part of the global village. I don't mean to brag, but I'm so fast with technology. People think it all seems too much, but we'll get used to it. I'm sure it all seemed too much when we were learning to walk.

I spent a lot of time in Muir Woods. Great place.

'The mind will quit long before the body needs to.'

I don't know who really said it first but having spent a large part of my life training in a sport I first heard it from my college coach. It's really more than a quote but rather a training and performance lifestyle in and out of competition.

"All of us who do creative work, we get into it because we have good taste. But there is this gap. For the first couple years you make stuff, it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. But your taste, the thing that got you into the game, is still killer. And your taste is why your work disappoints you. A lot of people never get past this phase, they quit. Most people I know who do interesting, creative work went through years of this. We know our work doesn’t have this special thing that we want it to have. We all go through this. And if you are just starting out or you are still in this phase, you gotta know it’s normal and the most important thing you can do is do a lot of work…it is only by going through a volume of work that you will close that gap, and your work will be as good as your ambitions…it’s gonna take awhile…you’ve just gotta fight your way through.” - Ira Glass

“Deserve your dream.” - Octavio Paz

“Before you ask why someone hates you, ask yourself why you even care.”

“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while.” - Steve Jobs

And in such a cheerful, uplifting, and hopeful manner, too!:p

Some of what the Mahatma offered strikes me as worth mulling over.

Siderz has given some of the Mahatma's guiding principles; a few years ago, a journalist I respect wrote about some of the Mahatma's principles, and offered a list of the following 'sins'. I thought it interesting and thought-provoking enough to share:

Gandhi’s seven “sins”, which he described as 'sins which can break the world':

“wealth without work";

"pleasure without conscience";

"knowledge without character';

"commerce without morality";

"science without humility";

"worship without sacrifice";

and "politics without principles”.

Oh yeah, Franz is all rainbows and lollipops. :p

Nailed it on the head, exactly. 'Rainbows and lollipops' - I may even borrow this particular quote for that particular gentleman. Love it, love it, love it…it actually makes me giggle….

"What you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought.
