In case others haven't noticed, the ship times for new iMacs -dramatically and suddenly- decreased in the past 12 hours. They are now both showing 1-3 days.

How the heck does -that- happen? Not that I am complaining, as it means less lead time for whenever EPP Macs become available. Did Apple get a sudden, HUGE surge of parts that were in short supply?

And how does this affect folks who ordered iMacs a week ago? Will somebody who ordered today get their shipments sooner than them?

Just noticed that that is strange.. Considering I placed my order feb 16 does that mean it'll be shipping within the next 3 days? Maybe that's for macs that aren't BTO? No idea..

27" iMac
3.4 i7 CPU
680mx 2GB GPU
3 TB Fusion Drive
8 Gigs of RAM (Will be buying 32 gigs through Crucial though)
Apple Care

Ordered on Feb 9th.
Shipped on Feb 28th.
In transit now but still in Cali. (I live in Florida now).
Will arrive next week. (Estimated Delivery: March 7th).

Bought Windows 7 and a Super Drive so I can Bootcamp it up.

Also grabbed a keyboard dust cover and a cleaning kit. This is my baby.

Oh and absolutely ecstatic!

:D

What Bootcamp issue???

My iMac's shipping with a 3TB Fusion Drive and I plan on running Bootcamp asap.

Any info or links would be appreciated!

Thx!

Bootcamp is currently not supported on 3Tb drives, though I believe there's some kind of unofficial workaround. Rumors suggest the problem will be fixed in the next OSX release.

Ordered in feb 10, charged on feb 25, but for some reason, still listed as processing. Wonder if there was some screw up with mine since others who ordered after me have already gotten shipping notices.

I'm in that boat, so I'm wondering the same thing. I ordered a BTO 27" on Feb. 24th, and it quoted March 20-27. When I look it up online, my order status and estimate haven't changed even though new orders appear to be down to 1-2 days. I'm guessing (hopefully) that it's still first come, first served...otherwise I should cancel my order and re-order today!

Either way, it's exciting that they've finally caught up with demand.

Update - the 1-3 days is for base models only. If you try and BTO -anything-, the ship time switches to 2-3 weeks.

That makes a bit more sense. That lead time is more inline with prior years for BTOs. It does look like they are finally catching up with demand.

Argh! In Europe it's still 4-6 weeks. I ordered (BTO) on Feb. 28; currently listed for delivery April 5-17th. :(

Maybe this change will eventually trickle down to us? One can only hope... dream....

Good to know! So have you gotten into it yet or did you have to go to work? :(

There may be a personal day coming when mine comes in. :)

Actually I was working from my home-office that day, but unfortunately I was that busy with work all day that my iMac was just sat there in the box teasing me. By the time I finished my work, had a gym session & cooked my dinner, it was 9pm. So I spent the rest of what was left of the night setting up the iMac and rearranging my office.

Every day this week was pretty much just the same - busy, busy, busy. So I've barely had chance to 'play around' with my new iMac. Thankfully the weekend is here and I finally get to play with it, and I'm loving it so far!

Congrats
Did u test for light bleed? Have they sorted it?

I think the display looks really nice. I did put up a black background and the bottom corners are very very slightly washed with light.. but hardly something to be concerned about. I don't see any of the yellow problem at all on my display. so overall I am very satisfied with everything.
I need to order more ram as I want to bump it up to max, I ordered it with 8GB as I planned on saving a couple bucks on getting my own ram.

Also I need to get the adapter for 5.1 audio.

I think it's time...

Booking my 2010 iMac in to have its HDD replaced by Apple so it's ready to sell.

Ordering a 27" 2.9GHz 3TB Fusion today... Wish me luck!

On the Hungarian online store, estimates just changed to 1-2 weeks. Alas, for BTO it's still 4-6 weeks...

Same thing for me. I ordered 25 Feb. I just checked my CC after reading your post and mine has a new charge. Must have happened today and will hopefully go to the 'Preparing for Shipment' status tomorrow.
Edit: this is in Australia. They have also decreased the BTO dates comes up as 7-10 days now, not 3-4 weeks

I received an SMS for the credit card charge, which was why I checked.

Singapore Apple Store just changed the stock config to 1-3 business days and BTO to 7 - 10 business days.

I see, I must have not allowed Apple to notify by SMS.

Oh, good signs then! Really need it ASAP my PC was on its last legs, now its officially dead. First iMac :p

Yes!! The Hungarian store just changed to 2-4 weeks for BTO as well!:)

(what a long wait to be so happy about. Not that I'm not very grateful, mind you...)

Actually, here's a question: I just checked, and noticed that my order status - and timing, which is still at 4-6 weeks from when I ordered (Feb. 28, so estimated for 4/5-4/17) - haven't changed. This should be reduced soon, right? How long should I give them before calling and asking about it? Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Not as good as what it says for us, but I guess its better than the previous wait you had.

My order status on apple still shows the original time frame:
Available to ship: 3 - 4 weeks
Delivers: 21/03/2013 - 28/03/2013 by Standard Shipping.
You would think it would update, if not and they have charged us it will soon just be shipping.

Ordered mine from the UK website on 20th Feb. Just saw that the delivery time on the site has changed from 4-6 weeks to 1-2 weeks so I just gave them a call as my date still says 25th March to 5th April.

The helpful Irish lady told me the 1-2 weeks is for the basic model not a BTO one like mine BUT the dates of these should be shortening too. She thinks I might get an email soon with a change of date. Fingers crossed.

Just got the iMac delivered! Oh yes....

Then when I open it up, it got triangles displaying all over the place as reflection of every icon or every program or every webpage I open up. I called apple and they are replacing it with a new one, so yeah, I have to send this one back and wait for another? who knows how much more I have to wait. arrgh
Not cool apple, Not cool.

I ordered my 27" iMac (3.4GHz, 1TB Fusion...) on February 18 and it was originally estimated to be somewhere between 5-6 weeks. It changed a couple of days later but the estimated date is still March 28 - April 10. That said, I looked on the Apple Store here in Germany a few minutes ago and my custom build iMac is now saying 2-4 weeks. Mine is almost 4 weeks still and I've waited to already. Surely new orders won't cut the line, right? I imagine mine will eventually get pushed forward. Anyone else?
