Dear God!
What if someone in China left my iPhone on! And now it's at an altitude of 33,000 ft according to flightaware, the maximum operating altitude according to Apple is only 10,000 ft!!!

Luckily aircraft cabins are pressurized to around 7,000ft :)

so does that mean if i take a plane.. at 30,000 feet i cant use my phone to watch or movie or ipad for that matter?

Na your good, like someone said before It's pressurized in the cabin, however I don't reccomend hiking mount everest whilst watching toy story three

Well my phone left at 320 which suggests INDY. I'm in Nashville so I would have thought it would have gone to Memphis. We will see I guess.

To all those who are wondering why their phones are heading to X instead of Y: Check out this link that shows the different Express hubs FedEx uses. They use many of them interchangeably.

sorry to ask again for clarification. im not a air plane guy.. so if i take a flight to the east coast and the flight is at 30,000- 33,000 ft my devices should be ok since cabin is pressurized at 7,000ft?

Yep, I was merely jesting in my first post.

Yeah, you'll be fine. The typical plane is pressured to 8,000 FT. The new Boeing 787 I believe can go down to 6000 ft now.

Ok, someone correct me if I am wrong.

According to another flight tracking system it appears that FDX4 did take off 1 min behind 11:00 AM local time. This information is from flightexplorer.com. I don't know how reliable that information is.

Here are the rest of the flights leaving Hong Kong heading to Memphis.

13:20 - FX076 - Tokyo -> Memphis - Departed at 13:17
17:50 - FX039 - Paris -> Memphis
19:00 - FX9168 - Anchorage -> Memphis
21:45 - FX098 - Memphis

Do all FedEX International flights go through Anchorage?

BTW - I cannot believe I have falling into this kind of OCD state over this phone.

Yes they fly from west to east---> International date line. Soon when the FAA finish testin the airbus we just got and once in service it'll be able to fly from china to Memphis without stopping in anchorage to refuel..

If you guys can find it online The History Channel did a piece called Jobsite. It shows how a package (medicine) was picked up in china and got to Nyc in 16 hours (made stops in anchorage, Memphis, then to Newark! It's really interesting and very informative. If you watch that you'll have a good understanding what your iPhone is doing (minus small details).

Yup you're fine. The pressure in the cabin is the same as the pressure would be at 7,000ft in the air.

i am looking at that map.... how so?
The blue dotted line is the plotted course over the markers. The green line is the actual path.

You need to use the Zoop feature on the top left of the map. Drill in and you will see that you can pan and zoom and see the detail.

For oldschooldude, that is normal flight deviation, he is looking for smooth air and vectoring to better flying weather in most cases.

Fdx86

Cant wait at 10 PM my iphone will be in the same city as me. its on flight FDX86. Its the one to oakland, and i just talk to my fedex guy, he said if gets it in his truck its at my house, his done that before. Thanks, Dave. You are truly one knowledgeable guy; much appreciated.

can anyone tell me what the deal is for my iphone?

the tracking says it is still in transit in Alaska. I live in Boston. Anyone know which flight it will be on?

Looks like my phone just re-entered US airspace. I hope it doesn't eat any ribs while in Memphis...that smoke smell is hard to get rid of.

"THIS IS THE BEST THREAD OF ALL TIME"

Nah but for real, this thread is amazing. The attention to detail and the obsession with how each of your phones are doing is funny to watch. lol

Hopefully, I can snag a white iPhone on thursday. :apple:

Yeah if you don't have a departure scan then it is still in Alaska. Don't worry because there will be several more flights in the next two days and you'll get it in time.
