FedEx Flight Info For the Super OCD

Just an update FDX04 shows as cancelled for today, June 20. My money is currently on FDX072 which departs in about 43 minutes at 1:15 AM HK Time.

These phones are all going to go on a bunch of different planes all day for the next few of days.
The ones bound for the U.S will arrive in Anchorage,Alaska first.

I'm not sure where FedEx's central hub is. I know UPS's is is Louisville,Ky.

This sounds like Castaway 2 in the making. My prediction is that the Fedex flight is going to go down, but Tom Hanks' character survives on some deserted island with 600,000 iPhones floating around. :p

International Shipment Release is in Memphis TN for FedEX.

There is also FDX9164 that connects through Tokyo - Ak - Memphis (Sort Hub).

Again I think you guys are reading the flights wrong. Fdx072 landed yesterday. Or I'm just dumb. Or does fedex use same flight number on all flights?

Edit: u guys do understand that it's June 21 in china today. Not the 20th.

I agree (i think)

Here is the list of flights departing HK Int'l on June 21 (today for us)

The first FedEx one is at 11:00 AM HK time which is 8:00 PM PDT.

Correct, they leave tomorrow (+1) and arrive today (-1) except for delays which push them back to day +1. We did not expect them to make the June 20 flights based on the FedEx scan times. :(

Just a guess but if you could fit 10 iphones in the same size shipping box as the macbook (the shipping box is bigger than the retail box) Then 320,000.

"By reducing our packaging over 40 percent between 2006 and 2009, we ship 50 percent more boxes in each airline shipping container. That saves one 747 flight for every 32,000 units we ship.*"

I'd say that's a pretty good guess, but I don't know if 10 can fit in one macbook shipping box. I don't remember how big the shipping box was from my MBP but comparing retail boxes, it seems like 10 iPhone boxes can fit in one MBP box. I would think 8 would be a safe guess though.

I wonder what % of pallets on each FedEx flight going out today and tomorrow will be iPhones.

If you really want to supreme-ill-def-completelyoverthetop-whacked-out-uber OCD, you could cross-reference the FDX flights from FA with the various LiveATC.net streams.

Anchorage (PANC):
http://d.liveatc.net/panc.m3u

Fairbanks (PAFA):
http://d.liveatc.net/pafa.m3u

There is one coming up for KMEM, but I'm not sure on when that one will be ready. Also, there is a LiveATC app in the app store if you want to listen to it on the go.

EDIT: Forgot Hong Kong.

OK, I know a lot of people like to track the plane their iPhone is on. According to the HK Int'l Airport flight schedules the next FedEx plane to take off today is Flt FX 9168 which leaves at 10:30pm HK time, which is in just a few hours. That might be cutting it close.

The next flight is FX 004 at 11am tomorrow HK time, followed by FX 096 at 3:20p. Then 9168. Rinse, wash, repeat. Those are the 3 FedEx fights from HK. Your iPhone will be on one of them this week.

For basic flight status you can go here

For real time status you can go here

Ha ha, you need to head on over to Bimmerfest. When we order our new BMWs we ALL track our cars through the whole manufacturing process, parts, paint and assembley, then on the train to Bremmerhaven, and on the cargo ship across the atlantic with real time tracking, then from VDC at port to PDC or dealer. This process takes 12-16 weeks and we check several times a day EVERY day through various websites and info from SA. Now thats OCD!!!
